As soon as I stepped outside to meet him, he grabbed my arm and pulled me to the corner. He tried to trap me there, his breath brushing against my skin, and the memory of that disgusting night with Kaida crashed into me along with the betrayal that followed.
"What do you think you are doing?" Thane asked with a deep frown. He looked angry, but it did not satisfy me at all. "You lied to the princes like I was not there last night. Do you know that what you did was a betrayal?"
My eyes widened in shock when he said that word. Betrayal. Hearing it from him made my stomach twist. He should be the last person to speak about betrayal.
Anger burned inside me, but I forced myself to hold it back. This was not the right place to explode. Anyone could hear us.
But I could not stop myself. My hand moved on its own and slapped him hard across the cheek.
It happened so fast that I could not believe I had done it. I had never hit anyone before.
