Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Let me see, I am in dorm A1 Room 203 with a Luna Neill. I wonder what she's like? Hopefully not a stuck up noble. I hope the dorms have air conditioning. Abby looks down at her map. It's on King Street. Abby pets her horse on the nose. "Let's go, girl." She mounts her steed and gallops along the street. I need to get to King Street. I'm on Berg Street, so it's two streets over.

Abby observes the buildings made of wood and brick all looking the same. Except for the chapel, which featured a stunning stained-glass artwork of the Goddess Matra and was the only one of its kind. The goddess better be with us if we are going to win the war. Abby waves and smiles at the individuals walking beside her.

Her eyes traced the blue sign with the words King Street on it. Abby turns her horse to find a two-story dorm made of wood and brick. I see air conduiting units. Knowing she would not faint in the oppressive heat of summer, Abby's eyes light up. Guiding her horse to the stable beside the dorm, she jumps off and hands her steed to a young man.

"Thank you," Abby says sweetly. She takes her two suitcases and opens the front door, stepping inside the dorm.

"Watch where you're going" a stern voice says. A woman six feet tall with long black hair and brown skin looks down at Abby.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. I mean. Captain Dashner." Abby instantly checks her uniform's name and rank.

"Where's my salute?" Captain Dashner remarks, leaning forward slamming her foot right near Abby's.

"We're inside, ma'am," replies Abby, holding her ground.

"What do they teach the new recruits during basic training?" Captain Dashner laughs as she takes out a cigarette. "Please don't get in my way. I'm irritated today." She turns and walks away from the road.

What a rude person. No matter. I probably won't run into her that much. Abby looks to the left to find a flight upstairs and a reception desk in front of her. "Hello," she says, walking up to a man sipping a soda.

"What room are you in?" The man looks at Abby plainly.

What a rude man, she thought to herself. Whatever happens, I'm going to be kind to him. Abby smiles and bows as she adds, "I suppose you're doing

well."

The man rolls his eyes. "Could be better… the room please."

I guess my charm doesn't work on everyone. Abby sighs. "Room 203 please."

"Here are your keys. You get two and don't lose them. It's a hassle to make more. Dinner is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Don't miss it. They do not stay open late on the weekends. Till then everything is open. If you need a map and list of all the services on post, please take one."

"Thank you," Abby says, taking her keys and map for later. She turned around and began climbing the steps. The walls were sea blue with white stripes. Her eyes struggled to adapt to the stairwell's light. I feel they took the ocean theme a bit far.

Opening the door to the second floor, she saw the hallway was bustling with people. At the very least, the carpet is beautiful. Her gaze was drawn to the forest green carpet and brown walls. "So, here it is." Abby sets her suitcase down and inserts her key into the lock.

"Please don't murder me!" A voice squeaks from the other side of the room.

Abby opens the door to find a young woman huddled underneath a blue blanket. "Why would I murder you?" Abby asks sweetly.

"You sound more like an angel than a devil." From behind the cover, a young lady with fair skin and huge round spectacles peeks out. "I was worried about getting a bad roommate here. You may still be awful. I'm not going to fall for the pleasant greeting act." The lady retracts her head under the cover.
