Keifer's POV
The air in my lungs tasted like ash.
The darkness in the penthouse was thick, heavy, and suffocating. My arms felt completely empty, and that emptiness was a physical pain tearing through my chest. Just seconds ago, Jay had been right here. I had been holding her close, promising her that she was safe, promising her that the monsters from her past could never touch her again. Then the lights went out. The security grid crashed. In the blind chaos, she vanished.
"Jay!" I roared into the dark, my voice raw and desperate. "Jay! Where are you?"
The backup generators finally kicked in with a low, mechanical hum. The emergency lights flickered to life, casting a dull red glow across the room. But the room was empty. She was gone.
My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped animal. Panic tried to take over my mind, but I forced it down, replacing it with a burning, blinding rage. Someone had bypassed our elite security. Someone had taken my wife.
The heavy doors of the command room burst open. Max, Aya, Zen, Luna, and Alex hurried inside. Their faces were pale, their eyes wide with panic and urgency. Max was holding a portable tech tablet, his fingers flying across the screen.
"Keifer!" Max called out, his voice cutting through the tense silence of the room. "Guys, there is a text hitting our main system right now. It just bypassed our firewall."
I turned to him. I could feel the blood rushing to my face. My eyes were completely red from sheer anger, the veins in my neck tightening. The sheer audacity of whoever did this was enough to make me want to tear the world apart.
"What is it?" I demanded, my voice dropping to a deadly, low growl that made the room go completely still. "Read it."
Max didn't speak. Instead, he quickly transferred the data to the main wall monitor. The screen flashed, and a block of text appeared in bold, harsh letters. I stepped closer, my hands clenching into tight fists as I read the words out loud:
"Dear son-in-law, if you want to meet your dear wife, please be here alone."
Directly underneath the message was a flashing set of geographical coordinates. An old, abandoned industrial warehouse district located out on the lonely edge of the city lines.
The moment the text was fully read, the room exploded into a chaotic burst of fury.
"Damn it!" Angelo roared. He swung his leg back and violently kicked a heavy wooden side table. The wood splintered with a loud crash, sending decorative pieces flying across the polished floor.
Rafael spat out a string of heavy curses, his face twisting into a mask of pure hatred. "That dead bastard. I'll kill him myself. I'll tear him to pieces!"
Behind them, the elite members of Section E stood up straight. Their expressions instantly turned cold and professional. They checked their tactical gear, loaded their weapons, and adjusted their holsters. They didn't need an order to know that they were completely ready for a brutal fight.
Near the back of the room, Tita broke down. A heavy sob escaped her lips, and she covered her face with her hands, trembling violently at the thought of what Jay was going through.
Seeing her collapse into tears, the other girls immediately rushed to her side.
Luna ,Freya and Aya wrapped their arms around her, holding her tightly and whispering soft, comforting words to console her, trying to keep her from falling apart completely.
I stared at the monitor, my mind working at a lightning-fast pace. The anger was there, burning hot, but I forced my strategic mind to take over. Something didn't add up.
Robert was a monster, yes, but to pull off a highly sophisticated blackout and breach a top-tier security penthouse required deep, fresh resources and local knowledge. Robert had been hiding, presumed dead for years. He couldn't have done this level of technical infiltration by himself.
"He is not alone," I said aloud, my voice cutting through the noise of the room.
Percy stepped forward, his eyebrows furrowing as he processed my words. "What do you mean, Keifer? You mean someone else is actively helping him from the inside or with big resources?"
"Who?" Aries asked loudly, stepping into the light. "Who the hell would partner up with a ghost like Robert to target Jay?"
I stood perfectly still, thinking deeply for a short, intense moment. I thought about everyone who hated us, everyone who wanted to see us fall, and everyone who had been acting strangely over the past few weeks. A specific name flashed into my mind, dark and suspicious.
I turned around sharply, my eyes locking onto Max. "Max, can you check Clyden's recent activities immediately? Trace his bank accounts, his phone logs, his travel history—everything. See if his path connects to anything related to Robert."
Max nodded quickly, already typing furious commands into his tablet. "On it."
Next, I turned my attention to Rory and Edrix, "Rory, Edrix. Take the coordinates from that message. Track the entire area near this specific warehouse location. Look at the satellite feeds and traffic cameras. Try to search for any hidden traps, ambushes, or sniper positions. I am not walking blindly into a slaughterhouse."
"We're on it, boss," Edrix said, his expression grim as he and Rory immediately sat down at the secondary computer station to map out the perimeter.
The plan had to be flawless, and the home base had to be completely secure. I turned to face David, Zen, Alex, and Yuri. They were strong, highly capable fighters who could handle any surprise attack.
"David, Zen, Alex, Yuri," I ordered, pointing firmly at the ground. "You four stay here. Do not leave under any circumstances. Guard the mansion and others. If this is a distraction to draw us all out and attack the family again, you are our absolute last line of defense."
They all gave a solemn, serious nod. "Understood, Keifer," David replied, his hand resting firmly on his weapon.
Then, I looked down and saw two small figures standing near the doorway. Keiren and Keigan, my younger siblings, were standing close together. Their eyes were wide with a mix of terror and profound sadness. They had already lost so much in their young lives, and seeing Jay disappear was breaking them.
I walked over to them, kneeling down so I was at their eye level. I tried to soften my harsh expression, though the rage was still boiling inside me. "Keiren, Keigan. I need you both to stay deep inside the safe room. Do not come out until we tell you it is completely clear. Can you do that for me?"
Keiren looked up at me, his lower lip trembling slightly. He reached out and grabbed the sleeve of my jacket. "Ate won't leave us, right, Kuya?" he asked quietly, his voice cracking with emotion. "She promised she would always stay."
My heart broke for the boy, but I held his gaze with absolute, unyielding certainty. "I won't let anything happen to your ate. I promise you."
Keigan, standing right beside , nodded slowly, his eyes shining with unshed tears. He spoke in a quiet, brave voice. "Both of you come back safe. Please."
Before I could stand up, Mia stepped out from the group of girls. Her eyes were red from crying, but there was a fierce look of desperation on her face. She walked right up to me and looked into my eyes. "Kuya... please bring my sister back. Don't let them hurt her."
I looked at her, my voice carrying the weight of a sacred vow. "With my life, Mia. I will bring her back."
Just as I stood up, Max called out from his station, his face turning incredibly grave. "Keifer, I just ran the check. Clyden has been completely missing from the past few days. No one has seen him at his usual spots, and his primary phone has been completely dark. But I found a secondary burner phone signal that pinged near the docks—and guess who else was seen in that general area? Robert's known old associates."
The pieces of the puzzle fell into place with a horrifying click. It was a joint venture of malice.
Rafael slammed his fist against the wall, leaving a dent in the drywall. "This must be this motherfucker!" he cursed in pure, unfiltered anger. "Coyden teamed up with that monster. I knew that piece of trash couldn't be trusted!"
I didn't waste another second listening to the angry outbursts. The time for talking was completely over. I walked swiftly across the room to the heavy weapon cabinet mounted on the wall.
I punched in the security code, the lock clicking open instantly. I reached inside and took out my primary customized handgun. I checked the magazine, slapped it firmly into place, and tucked it into my concealed holster.
I turned back around to face the Rafael, Angelo, Aries, Percy, and the members of Section E. They were all looking at me, waiting for the order to move out and destroy the target.
"I will go there first," I said, my voice cold as ice. "The message explicitly says I must come alone. If they see a whole army approaching, they might hurt her before I even cross the threshold. I will enter the warehouse by myself."
"Keifer, no, that's suicide!" Blaster protested, stepping forward.
"Listen to me!" I snapped, silencing him instantly. "You all will follow me, but you will stay exactly 10 meters away from the main perimeter. Hide in the shadows, blend into the surrounding abandoned buildings, and secure the exit routes. Do not move into the building until I give you the specific signal on the comms. The moment I give the word, we eliminate everyone standing in our way."
They looked at each other, unhappy with the risk I was taking, but they knew it was the only tactical choice that kept Jay alive. They slowly nodded their heads in agreement.
"Understood," Rafael muttered, gripping his rifle tightly.
As I turned to walk out the door, Angelo quietly added, "Keifer... take care of yourself out there. Don't let your anger make you reckless. Jay needs you alive."
I stopped for a brief second, giving him a firm, reassuring nod. Then, I turned and practically ran out of the room, heading straight down to the underground garage.
The garage doors rolled up with a loud rumble. I jumped into my high-performance sports car, throwing the weapon onto the passenger seat. I slammed my foot down on the gas pedal. The engine roared to life with a terrifying scream, the tires screeching loudly against the concrete floor as I tore out into the night.
The city streets became a total blur of neon lights and dark asphalt. My hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly that my knuckles turned completely white. I didn't care about traffic laws, speed limits, or safety.
I watched the digital speedometer on the dashboard rapidly climb: 210, 230, 250 kilometers per hour. The car flew down the highway like a missile, weaving dangerously between the few late-night vehicles on the road.
The wind howled loudly against the windshield, but all I could hear in my head was the sound of Jay's laughter, the sound of her crying, and the memory of her vanishing into the dark penthouse. My heart was pounding with a mix of terror and absolute rage.
"Wait for me, Jay," I whispered fiercely into the empty car, my voice trembling with raw emotion as I pushed the accelerator even harder, driving like an absolute maniac through the dark. "Just hold on. I am coming for you, and I swear to God, I will kill anyone who dared to touch a single hair on your head."

Author's POV
Far away from the speeding car, deep within the desolate and decaying industrial sector of the city, stood a massive, rusted warehouse.
The windows were entirely broken, the concrete floors were cracked and covered in thick dirt, and the only light came from a single, flickering bulb hanging from a long wire in the very center of the vast, hollow ceiling.
Inside the warehouse, the atmosphere was cold, damp, and smelled heavily of rust and old oil.
Positioned directly under that single flickering light was a heavy wooden chair. Tied securely to it was Jay. Thick, industrial-grade ropes were wrapped tightly around her torso, her waist, and her wrists, binding her arms firmly to the wooden armrests.
Her head was hanging down low, her long hair falling forward, completely concealing her pale face. She was completely unconscious, her breathing shallow and uneven.
Slowly, painfully, Jay began to stir. The deep darkness in her mind started to clear away, replaced by a throbbing, intense headache. She groaned softly, her eyelids fluttering as she slowly opened her eyes.
Her vision was blurry at first, casting long, distorted shadows across the filthy concrete floor. But as her eyes adjusted to the dim, harsh light, she saw a pair of heavy leather boots standing directly in front of her.
Her breath hitched in her throat. She slowly lifted her head, her gaze traveling up past the long dark coat, up to the face of the man standing right before her.
Her entire body went completely rigid. Every single muscle in her frame froze as a wave of pure, icy terror washed over her soul.
It was him. The one person she never wanted to see again as long as she lived. The man she had prayed was dead and buried deep beneath the earth.
Robert. The absolute monster of her childhood. Her stepfather.
He looked older, his face more lined and scarred by time, but those same cruel, calculating eyes were staring down at her with a sick sense of ownership.
Seeing him instantly shattered Jay's reality. She desperately wanted to stay strong. She wanted to glare at him, to scream at him, to fight back against the heavy ropes binding her to the chair. She wanted to show him that she was no longer the helpless little child he used to terrorize. But the sheer sight of his face was an overwhelming psychological trigger.
In an instant, the dirty warehouse faded away, and she was violently trapped in the dark, suffocating memories of her childhood. The walls of her mind collapsed. She wasn't a grown, married woman anymore; in her mind, she was just a small girl from years ago, hiding in a dark closet, trembling in absolute terror while listening to the heavy, slow footsteps of the monster searching for her.
The old trauma wrapped around her throat like a physical hand, choking the strength right out of her and leaving her completely emotionally overwhelmed and vulnerable.
Robert stepped closer, a slow, sickening smile spreading across his thin lips. The leather of his boots creaked loudly against the quiet space of the warehouse.
"Oh, my child," Robert said, his voice a low, raspy purr that made Jay's stomach turn with intense nausea. "You are finally awake."
He reached out a rough, calloused hand, his dirty fingers moving slowly to touch her pale cheek.
The physical contact brought Jay crashing back to the present reality. The absolute revulsion she felt gave her a sudden, brief burst of adrenaline. With a sharp, sudden movement, Jay violently jerked her face away from his hand, refusing to let him touch her.
Robert's smile instantly vanished, replaced by a flash of cold, dark anger. Without a single word of warning, he swung his heavy hand back and slapped her hard across the face.
Smack!
The loud sound echoed sharply through the empty warehouse. The force of the blow snapped Jay's head to the side, a sharp line of bright red blood instantly appearing at the corner of her lip. She gasped from the stinging pain, her vision swimming for a brief second.
Before she could even recover, Robert leaned in close and aggressively cupped her face in his tight, brutal grip. His fingers dug painfully into her jawline, forcing her to look straight into his cruel eyes.
"Still disobedient, I see," he hissed, his hot, foul breath hitting her face. "You always did need to be taught a lesson on how to respect your father."
He let go of her jaw with a rough shove, but he didn't step back. Instead, his eyes darkened with a repulsive, predatory gleam.
He slowly started tracing her body with his hand, moving his fingers lightly from the side of her bruised face, down the sensitive skin of her neck, and then sliding down to her trembling arms.
"You have grown into a beautiful woman, I must say," he murmured, his lustful eyes scanning her form with a sick expression of desire. "The years have been very good to you, Jasper Jean. You are far more valuable to me now than you ever were back then."
Jay felt a wave of pure horror and disgust wash over her. She tried to pull away from his touch, but the ropes held her completely trapped, making her feel utterly helpless against his vile advances.
"Get your filthy hands off her, Robert. Save some of the fun for later."
A sharp, arrogant voice cut through the damp air of the warehouse.
From the deep shadows near the back entrance of the building, another figure stepped forward into the dim light of the single bulb. He was dressed in expensive clothes, but his face was twisted into a smug, hateful expression.
It was Clyden.
Jay looked up, her breathing heavy as she wiped the blood from her lip against her shoulder. Seeing Clyden standing there alongside her abusive stepfather confirmed everything. She understood it was all a sick plot driven by their shared hatred.
Clyden walked over, stopping right next to Robert. He looked down at Jay, clapping his hands together in a slow, mocking applause.
"Oh, finally," Cayden sneered, his voice dripping with intense malice. "The great Jasper Jean Mariano Watson is awake. The untouchable queen of the Watson family, reduced to a pathetic rat tied to a wooden chair."
Jay didn't say a word. She just stared at him, her eyes narrowing as she forced her fear down, replacing it with pure, unadulterated contempt.
Clyden leaned down closer to her face, clearly irritated by her stubborn silence.
"Bitch, why don't you talk? Where is all that high-and-mighty attitude you usually have when your precious husband Keifer is around to protect you? You're nothing without him."
Jay swallowed the copper taste of blood in her mouth. She slowly lifted her chin, her eyes locking onto Cayden's face with absolute scorn. She refused to let these pathetic men see her break completely.
"I don't have the habit of talking to trash like you," Jay said, her voice remarkably steady, carrying a cold, cutting sharpness. She looked from Clyden to Robert, a bitter, mocking smile touching her lips. "You both are fucking cowards. Look at yourselves. You have to launch a blackout, bypass security in the dark, and tie a woman to a chair just to feel powerful. You are both pathetic, weak cowards who are terrified of what Keifer will do to you."
The moment the word 'coward' left her mouth, the atmosphere in the warehouse shifted dangerously.
Cayden's face went completely pale, his eyes widening in pure rage. The insult struck a deep, insecure nerve inside him. His blood ran freezing cold hearing those words from a woman he considered completely helpless and defeated.
"I am a coward?" Cayden whispered, his voice shaking with a terrifying, unstable fury. He stepped back a pace, his hands trembling as he reached deep into his jacket pocket.
"You think I'm a coward, you arrogant bitch? LETS SEE, BABY!"
With a swift, violent motion, Cayden pulled out a long, gleaming tactical knife. The sharp steel blade caught the dull light of the flickering bulb overhead, shining with a deadly, silver glint.
Jay's eyes widened slightly as she saw the weapon, her heart skipping a frantic beat.
Clyden didn't hesitate. He stepped forward, using one hand to roughly rip open the front of Jay's shirt, exposing her stomach.
"Let's see how brave you are when I tear you apart before your husband even gets here!" Cayden screamed, completely losing his mind to his manic rage.
He raised his arm high into the air. Robert stood right beside him, watching with a sick, twisted look of pure amusement, making absolutely no move to stop him.
Clyden swung his arm down with terrifying force. He drove the sharp, cold knife straight into Jay's stomach.
The blade tore through her skin and deep into her flesh.
"Ahhhhh!" Jay cried out, a loud, agonizing scream of pure, unendurable pain ripping from her throat.
The sound echoed violently off the high, rusted walls of the empty warehouse, cutting through the quiet night like a death knell. Her body convulsed sharply against the heavy ropes as the blinding, burning agony of the stab wound consumed her entire existence, her blood beginning to pour out quickly, staining the cold concrete floor beneath her chair.
