Chapter 120 - BWDC:SDDK Chapter 120: The Death of Kamen Yaiba!

BWDC:SDDK Chapter 120: The Death of Kamen Yaiba!

Dracula vs. Batman.

Ren Ichimonji vaguely remembered that the character Dracula existed in both DC and Marvel Comics. There had even been a specific movie released revolving around that very theme.

He rubbed his chin, lost in thought.

Under normal circumstances, cases that Mouri Kogoro and Conan proactively participated in shouldn't involve supernatural elements. It was likely because Conan's "Scientific Aura" as the "Demon of Light" was simply too suppressive.

However, since there was a possibility of encountering vampires or Dracula himself, he decided to prepare a few items to deal with the undead.

--- Garlic, a Bible, a cross, and even that mysterious, nifty little symbol specifically for "Celestial Dragon" vampires.

After all, the famous vampire hunter Gaxido once encountered a Celestial Dragon vampire who wasn't afraid of crosses. As Batman, Ren Ichimonji had no intention of repeating Gaxido's mistakes.

"What's wrong? Are you actually thinking about how to deal with vampires?"

"Alright, alright, I was just joking. How could vampires possibly exist in this world?"

Conan, seeing that Ren seemed to be genuinely contemplating the matter, quickly waved his hand to get his attention.

"Wizards, vampires—those are things that only exist in fantasy. It's all a lie."

"This is the Heisei era! You have to believe in science!"

You're right, but I just saw a wizard casting spells yesterday, Ren thought, his lip twitching.

He grabbed Conan by the back of his collar—the collar of destiny—and escorted him out the door so he could have some peace and quiet.

Standing outside the door after being kicked out by Batman, Conan paused for a moment.

Then, he immediately entered Spinosaurus mode, hissing at the door and muttering nonsensical words. He eventually walked away grumbling things like "Chuunibyou is a disease" and "He needs to stay on his meds."

--- How speechless. You just can't reason with these "middle school syndrome" types.

To actually believe that wizards and vampires exist in this world... he's really far gone.

Watching Conan appear at the bottom of the apartment building and slowly drift back toward the Mouri Detective Agency, Ren smiled slightly.

Little guy. A mere Robin wants to trade blows with me, Batman? You clearly don't understand; I, the Batman of Beika Town, am not an easy character to deal with.

However, just as Ren was wondering where to go to buy some books, his phone suddenly rang.

He pulled the phone from his pocket and checked the caller ID.

[Caller: Suzuki Sonoko]

It seemed that because the museum had turned into a complete mess, even the upcoming "Memory Egg" exhibition had to be delayed or canceled. Suzuki Jirokichi could no longer keep causing trouble, which meant Sonoko, who was constantly being dragged in to help him, finally had some free time to play.

Ren pressed the answer button and held the phone to his ear.

"Ren, are you free today?"

"If you are, let's go to the nearby amusement park! I heard a new attraction was just finished there, and I want to check it out!"

"But Ran said she's taking Conan to Kudo's house this morning to do some big cleaning..."

"Won't you come with me? It's so boring to go alone!"

Sonoko's voice chirped from the other end.

Hearing this, Ren was momentarily stunned. He looked down toward the Mouri Detective Agency on the ground floor.

He saw Mouri Ran already leading Conan downstairs. She was carrying a bag, clearly prepared to head out. Ren immediately realized why Conan had seemed so reluctant to leave earlier—

The brat didn't want to go help Ran with the cleaning!

To think you tried to scheme against me, Haji-nan...

Ren immediately replied, "Sure. Which amusement park? I'll head over now."

"Why don't you wait for me at the entrance?"

Hearing this, Sonoko cheered happily.

"It's Nichiuri Land!"

"I originally wanted to go to Tropical Marine Land, but because of that Jet Coaster Murder Case that Kudo solved a while back, a lot of the rides are undergoing safety inspections and maintenance. So, Nichiuri Land will be more fun!"

--- Tropical Marine Land?

Even if Sonoko hadn't mentioned the Jet Coaster Murder Case, Ren remembered it as the starting point of the whole story. If he ever brought up Tropical Marine Land and the "blunt instrument" incident to Conan, the kid would probably turn red with rage and try to pick a fight then and there.

"Okay, I got it," Ren replied.

The call ended. He quickly gathered the things he needed, glanced at a map of Beika Town to plan his route, and set off.

There was a small shopping mall near Nichiuri Land; if nothing else, he should be able to find garlic and a cross there. As for the mysterious, nifty little symbol made of iron, he would just head to Professor Agasa's lab in the afternoon and forge one himself. You definitely couldn't buy one in a store.

Nichiuri Land.

As one of the famous amusement parks in Beika Town, this place primarily targeted the children's market. Ren didn't even need to go inside; just looking in from the entrance, he could see a crowd of kids gathered around a stage, watching a Kamen Yaiba stage play.

How should he put it? He had some fond memories of this.

It wasn't childishness. A man is a boy until the day he dies—it's an unquenchable, pure-hearted spirit!

"Ren! Over here, over here!"

Sonoko's voice rang out nearby. Ren turned to see Sonoko, who had arrived slightly after him, and walked over.

The second young miss of the Suzuki Financial Group was still her usual cheerful self. She took Ren's arm and led him inside, her eyes scanning the various attractions.

Finally, her curious gaze landed on a recently opened horror house.

--- She kind of wanted to see what it was like inside. This horror house was supposedly themed around "Tokusatsu" special effects and was unique in all of Tokyo.

However, she was a little bit scared to go in alone...

Sonoko looked at Ren, and Ren, following her lead perfectly, said, "Shall we go in and see?"

"Yes!"

The various Tokusatsu monsters inside the horror house weren't actually that scary.

After all, they were monsters from kids' shows; the creators had to consider the audience. Nevertheless, they still gave Sonoko jump scare after jump scare.

It had nothing to do with whether the monsters themselves were terrifying. The designers of the house simply understood human psychology, purposefully placing monster suits or staff members in spots where people would naturally relax.

Tests had shown that even a cartoon girl jumping out could cause a "terror shock" effect.

Ren, however, remained completely unfazed. These monsters weren't half as scary as he was when he got serious.

"In the next episode: The Death of Kamen Yaiba!"

The announcer for the stage play outside shouted.

Ren, just walking out of the horror house, shook his head slightly. He knew just by listening that it was another clickbait title to boost ratings; they probably just moved the stage play script over without changes.

Then, he heard Sonoko's startled cry.

"Ren, look! Kamen Yaiba is dead!"

Ren: ?
