Chapter 65 - Chapter 65: What Does a Bank Robbery Have to Do with Me

"Good morning, New York."

Listening to the cheerful voice of the radio host in his earphones, the lobby manager of Homeland Bank walked into his office with a cup of freshly bought coffee.

He opened the window, closed his eyes, and enjoyed the comfort of the morning breeze brushing against his face.

Just then, gunshots suddenly rang out outside.

For a second or two, the manager thought he had heard wrong, until a robber wearing a clown mask pushed open the door with a shotgun in his hands.

The coffee he was holding spilled all over the floor.

Not long after, the Brooklyn Police Department received the alarm call and immediately dispatched officers.

In just three to five minutes, patrol cars had surrounded the bank.

A police captain turned on the loudspeaker in his car and shouted to the robbers.

"Everyone inside, listen up. You are surrounded."

"Don't think about getting lucky. Surrender now, and I'll speak to the judge on your behalf."

BANG!

The red and blue police lights on top of the patrol car suddenly exploded. Then a robber rushed out of the bank's main entrance, holding an automatic rifle and roaring as he sprayed bullets at the police.

The officers quickly ducked behind their cars, holding onto their caps as they returned fire.

The robber didn't dodge or hide. His skin suddenly turned iron gray.

Bullets struck his body with clanging sounds. Deformed rounds fell to the ground one after another.

The robber burst out laughing, "Useless! Your bird brain bullets are only good for scratching Lord Ironhide here!"

The captain's face changed drastically, "Damn it, he's a superhuman."

"Quick, notify the Seven!"

———

Inside the Seven Tower, Angelina saw Alex standing still and couldn't help asking, "Master, what's wrong?"

Alex came back to his senses. His hand trembled slightly, and like a magician, he tossed the Daily Planet back into his inventory.

"Nothing. Just discovered something interesting."

Alex smiled, stood up, and walked out of the room.

Lin Aida had actually appeared in DC's Superman universe. That meant she was also a superhuman.

'Too careless.'

'Back then, I should have used "Insight" on her. I almost missed this treasure.'

Yes, treasure.

If Lin Aida could travel across different universes and even take others with her, that was definitely a cheat level ability, the kind at the very top.

Just imagine going to the DC universe and picking up items from superheroes or even gods. Lantern rings, the Golden Trident, the Godkiller sword, and so on.

Or going to the Marvel universe and having Wakanda make a vibranium battle suit. Collecting the Infinity Stones wouldn't that be wonderful?

And the key to all of this was Lin Aida.

Walking toward the elevator, Alex took out his phone and was about to contact Lin Aida when his assistant Ashley hurried over.

"Homelander, something happened at Homeland Bank in Brooklyn."

"A superhuman is robbing the bank."

"The local police are requesting our support."

Alex smiled, "What does that have to do with me?"

"I don't want to be dragged into federal court again for damaging public property."

"Forget about that. Go call the costume department."

"I'll be waiting for them in the command hall."

After saying that, Alex left his assistant behind.

Ashley's mouth opened slightly. Then she twitched her lips and muttered, "He's still holding a grudge about last time."

"He's not going to permanently stop doing hero work, is he?"

Given Homelander's attitude, Ashley didn't dare make the decision to send out the other members of the Seven.

She could only act as if nothing had happened and follow Alex's instructions, calling the costume department.

In the command hall, Alex took out his phone and dialed Lin Aida's number.

A few seconds later, the call connected, ["Hello."]

"Hello, Miss Lin. This is John."

"Plumber John. We met at Walmart."

Alex said with a smile.

["Oh, Mr. John."]

Lin Aida sounded a little surprised, ["Is there something you need?"]

Alex looked out the window, "I want to apologize for what happened last time. I'm sorry I couldn't make our appointment."

"If you're free tonight, please give me a chance. I'd like to treat you to dinner."

Lin Aida hesitated, ["I do have time tonight, but—"]

Alex cut in firmly, "Then it's settled. Where should I pick you up?"

Lin Aida didn't seem good at refusing people. In the end, she could only give Alex an address.

After putting down the phone, Alex turned around and saw the costume department walking in.

He went straight to the point, "I need you to design a plumber look for me."

The costume team froze.

———

Evening—

[Chinatown]

Alex stepped out of a taxi.

He was wearing a cheap T shirt and a plaid shirt, with a baseball cap on his head.

His hair was dyed brown, and he wore plain glasses.

He almost couldn't recognize himself in this appearance, let alone anyone else.

Walking down the street, surrounded by crowds, no one gave Alex a second glance.

Since transmigrating here, this was the first time Alex had been completely ignored.

The meeting place was a Chinese restaurant.

When Alex saw Lin Aida, the girl was sitting in a booth, with a white cane placed beside her.

Not rushing forward, Alex first used "Insight" on her.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

[Name: Lin Aida]

[Life Level: Level 4 (Superhuman)]

[Status: Nervous]

[Talent: Multiversal Travel.]

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

'Got it!'

'She really is a superhuman!'

'Her talent is "Multiverse Travel"? It is her.'

Alex immediately pushed open the restaurant door and walked in. Just as he was about to approach, several black men sat down in Lin Aida's booth.

"Hey, Caitlin. Long time no see. Where've you been? Haven't seen you around for food lately."

One of them greeted Lin Aida while another sat beside her, his hand already reaching toward the girl's pocket.

They were trying to steal her wallet.

Alex's face darkened.

Lin Aida was going to be his guide into other universes. In his mind, he had already placed her in the category of personal property.

How could he allow others to bully her?

But before Alex could act—

Bang!

A kitchen cleaver slammed down onto the table, startling the small time thief whose hand was reaching into the pocket.

A Chinese woman in her forties cursed in Cantonese, "You damn punks. How dare you mess around on my turf."

"Looking to die? Get the hell out!"

The landlady's fierce presence scared the men off immediately, saving Alex the trouble.

The owner pulled out the cleaver and sighed, "Caitlin, you really need to find a boyfriend soon. Otherwise, you'll be bullied easily."

Lin Aida probably understood what had just happened and smiled at the owner, "Thank you, Aunt Mei."

After the owner left, Alex stepped forward and smiled, "Good evening, Miss Lin."

Lin Aida immediately raised her head, "Good evening, Mr. John."

Alex sat down and glanced outside the door, seeing the men still lingering outside.

Then he said, "Have you traveled far recently?"
