Tori's POV
His words echoed in my head repeatedly, each repetition hitting harder than the last while I struggled to fully process what he had just confessed to me.
Within the past few months I had spent in this place, there were many things I expected from Kael. Cruelty. Anger. Manipulation. Violence.
But this?
This was never something I imagined I would hear come directly from his mouth.
"I killed my blood father."
The way he said it made everything worse.
There was no hesitation in his voice. No attempt to soften the truth or hide behind excuses. He simply looked directly into my eyes and admitted it like it was something he had carried for too long.
My body reacted before my thoughts could catch up. I stepped backwards immediately, my chest tightening as fear crawled slowly through me.
I was standing alone in a room with a man who had just confessed to murdering his own father.
And somehow, that realization made the entire room feel colder.
