ANNIE'S POV:
I was sitting in my seat in class, lazily flipping through the pages of my book. The classroom was empty since I had arrived early today. A yawn escaped my lips for what felt like the hundredth time. I had barely slept last night because of my neighbor's dog, who never stops barking. Seriously… sometimes I wonder what would happen if I just kidnapped that dog and made it disappear forever. Maybe then I'd finally know peace.
I was lost in my thoughts when the classroom door suddenly swung open. Sevi walked in, no, practically bounced in, looking way too excited for someone who usually acts like a tired sloth. My eyes narrowed immediately. I had never seen him this happy before.
"What happened? You look suspiciously happy today."
He giggled. Actually giggled. And then, God help me...he started blushing.
"Cuuuuuzzzzzzz…" he dragged the word dramatically. "…I found someone."
I blinked slowly. "Found someone?"
"Yes…" he looked down shyly, scratching the back of his neck. "…a girlfriend."
"Girlfriend?!"
My eyes widened in pure shock. There was absolutely no way. Sevi? A girlfriend? The same Sevi who once tripped over a chair that wasn't even in his path?
"Seriously?!"
He nodded proudly.
"Wait a minute…" I leaned forward, squinting at him suspiciously. "What did you lie to her about?"
"Lie? Why would I lie?"
"So why would she date you?" I shrugged innocently. "I mean… is she blind? Deaf? Or… some kind of special case?"
His smile immediately disappeared.
"You're just jealous that I got someone and you're still single."
I leaned back in my chair, crossing my arms.
"I'm single because I don't like anyone. You know… by choice. You were single because no one wanted to date you. There's a huge difference."
"Whatever. I still got someone first."
"Okay, okay," I waved my hand dismissively. "Who is she?"
"You know that cheerleader group girl… Katie? The hot one?"
"That makeup shop?"
"Makeup shop?"
"The one who uses so much makeup it looks like an entire cosmetic store exploded on her face."
"Yeahhhh… kinda…"
I stared at him, completely stunned. "She's dating you?"
"Yep." He nodded again, cheeks turning pink.
"Careful. She's not dating you, she might just be using you."
"Using me? For what?"
"Well…" I tapped my chin thoughtfully. "You take photos. You literally have a whole studio setup. Maybe she wants to promote her modeling. So she needs you temporarily. And after she gets what she wants…" I made a tossing motion with my hand. "…she'll just throw you away."
"Hey!" he snapped, glaring at me. "Don't talk bad about her! Or you and me are done here!"
He said it so dramatically that I almost laughed.
"Gladly."
"Okay, okay," he sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I'm just saying… please don't say bad things about her next time. You know she's my girlfriend now, so as her boyfriend, I should be the one protecting her."
He pouted at me like a kicked puppy.
"Okay, okay, whatever," I muttered. "Now go away. I want to sleep."
"Okay…"
He walked toward his seat, still smiling to himself like an idiot in love. I watched him for a moment before resting my head on my desk.
Honestly… I still couldn't believe it.
