Chapter 63 - CHAPTER 63: Love Matter?

SEVI'S POV:

The party was in full swing around us, music pounding through the walls, laughter echoing from every corner, glasses clinking, people dancing like they didn't have a care in the world.

Normally, I would've been completely in my element.

And honestly? I was.

I had a drink in one hand, a lazy grin on my face, and absolutely no intention of thinking about anything serious tonight.

But then my eyes landed on Theo.

He was sitting a little away from the crowd, near the bar counter, his fingers loosely wrapped around his drink. He wasn't really drinking it, just slowly swirling the liquid around in the glass, staring at it like it held the answers to life itself.

His expression was off.

Too quiet.

Too distant.

Too miserable for a party like this.

And Theo? He wasn't exactly the type to sulk unless something was seriously bothering him.

I frowned slightly.

Something was wrong.

I took one last sip of my drink, excused myself from the people I'd been talking to, and made my way over to him.

Sliding onto the stool beside him, I nudged his shoulder lightly.

"What's up, bro?" I asked, raising a brow. "What's with the funeral face?"

Theo barely looked at me.

"Nothing," he muttered, his eyes still fixed on the drink in his hand. "Just bored."

I stared at him for a second.

Then snorted.

"Bored?"

I leaned one elbow against the counter and tilted my head, studying him closely.

"Nice try."

He finally glanced at me, but only for a second before looking away again.

"I'm serious. It's nothing."

I let out a short laugh, shaking my head.

"Theo," I said slowly, dragging his name out like I was talking to a particularly stubborn child, "you know you can't hide things from me, right?"

He stayed silent.

That alone told me everything I needed to know.

I smirked a little and leaned closer.

"Tell me."

"It's nothing," he repeated, firmer this time. "I already told you."

I clicked my tongue.

"So you're really not going to tell me, huh?"

He didn't answer.

I nodded once, pretending to accept that.

"Alright then." I casually lifted my drink and took a sip. "Guess I'll just ask Kayla."

His head snapped toward me so fast I almost laughed.

"N-no!" he blurted out immediately. "Don't ask her!"

Bingo.

I slowly turned my head to look at him, grinning like I had just won a game I hadn't even been trying to lose.

"Oh?" I drawled. "Why not?"

Theo looked flustered, his grip tightening around the glass.

"She'll get worried."

My grin widened.

"Then tell me what's bothering you."

He looked away again, jaw tightening as if he was debating whether to say it or keep suffering in silence.

For a moment, I thought he might actually refuse.

Then he exhaled heavily.

"It's…" he hesitated, voice dropping lower. "It's a… you know…"

I raised a brow.

"A what?"

He looked like he physically hated the next words coming out of his mouth.

"A love matter."

I blinked.

"...A what?"

"A love matter," he repeated awkwardly.

I stared at him for two whole seconds.

Then I nearly choked.

"Love matter?" I said loudly. "Ohhh...wait....what?!"

My voice came out way louder than I intended.
