Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Sean saunters up to Macedon. His breath hastened with each step. The thoughts in his mind raced like hamsters in a maze.

Macedon bent his head down, leaning down toward Sean, his chin almost touching Sean's head. He put his massive hands on the recruits shoulders. "Yes, yes, I see," he uttered.

Sean didn't know what to think. He thought about the massive hands and Macedon towering over his body. He could be crushed at a moment's notice.

Macedon turned around and went toward the wall and knocked on it twice. A table flipped over from the wall showing a variety of weapons from polearms, wands, and swords. "Come on over here," the dark skin man said, looking at Sean.

Sean walked over to look at the weapons. This was a great time to see which one would best fit him. It would be the weapon he would take with him on missions if he could even get past training. Macedon seems to look forward to punishing me.What do I pick?

"Don't make me wait all day," Macedon declared, walking away. "Pick a weapon and let me observe it."

Sean looked. He noticed a long pole with a dragon on it. It looks like my sort of weapon. Touching it, he sees his initials form at the hilt. That is too cool!

Sean walked over to Macedon, gripping the pole, his hand trembling.

"Now, try to hit me," Macedon bellowed.

"All right, here I come," Sean said. He arched his foot back as he ran forward, slamming the pole toward Mastodon's neck. Where did he go? There was nothing but empty space in front of him.

"How pathetic," Macedon gloated. "How can you even call that a strike? My job is to make certain your strength to focus on your physical stamina. You'll go through several challenges today. First will be your physical stamina, next will be your mental stamina, and last will be your spiritual energy. All this training makes a Dreamweaver effective in the spiritual realm. Without being able to understand each essential component, you will die."

Does he mean die and go into The Void? Sean looked up to see Macedon right in front of him. Shifting to the left , Sean leaped forward, slamming the pole on Macedon's shoulder.

Macedon took his pinky finger and lightly pushed the pole off his shoulder with ease. "Put the weapon down, boy. You're not even fit to hold it yet. Samantha, what do you see in this clown? Can he be a Dreamweaver? You'll be better off in the post office or where they deliver food."

Samantha glanced over at Macedon with a smile. "I have faith in him. All oak trees start as a seed."

The kind words of Samantha warmed his heart. How can she be confident in me? His best was akin to most individuals' mediocre.

"All right, shrimp, first squats, watch me. We're going to build up your little legs so you can increase your stamina." The large man bent toward the ground and back up. He went up and down forty-five times.

"Now join me, let's go now," Macedon yelled, "squat one, two, three, four, five."

"Yes, yes," Sean said. He bent down quickly, not even realizing how it would go, "one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten." He repeated the squats. Reaching forty, Sean's legs buckled, sweat pouring over his body.

"Good," Macedon said, "you didn't die in the first set of forty. We have two more sets of forty to go. Let's get it in!"

Sean squatted again, his heart beating a thousand times a minute. They made me do this; they made me feel like this. What are they thinking?I feel like my body is a pool of sweat. The ground seemed closer than usual as he lifted his head, looking up at Macedon. His neck felt as if it weighed four times its size. He went to squat again to try to get to forty; he was exhausted. He fell on his back, breathing heavily. "Why am I not in workout clothes?"

"You are training for real-life scenarios. If you were in gym clothes, you wouldn't be able to train well." Macedon leaned over, a smile plastered on his face. "You will experience all sorts of elements in the spiritual realm. Don't worry, you will get a new suit."

Samantha looked at Sean, giving him a thumbs-up. "This is only the start of the day. We have so much more we have to go through."

I don't know if I can take any more. I hated to work out in the real world, and now I must work out in the spiritual world. His muscles ached. What happened to this being a perfect body or a better body?

Macedon looked at Sean, his eyes steaming like volcano. "If you don't train your spiritual body, then you won't be any good to anybody. It's not like you're in paradise, where you get your perfect body. Here you got to work for it. It is the same rules on Earth. Food, sleep, and everything is essential for your growth here. There are slight differences, and you'll figure them out along the way. Any who, I can't keep you here anymore. Samantha is going to take you to the next step of training. I expect to see you here tomorrow morning, ready to grind it out more."
