Chapter Fifty-One: Aftermath
The sun began to rise, transforming the black sky into golden hues for moments while gradually ascending. The faint daylight reflected off the destroyed buildings after the night's battle. Light crept across broken concrete like hesitant fingers touching wounds, illuminating dust particles that still danced in the air—tiny witnesses to incomprehensible violence.
In the center of the rubble, Geto had opened his mouth with difficulty, coughing blood. He couldn't believe his greatest attack had been deflected in this way. Additionally, his body was in an extremely dangerous state—he couldn't move. Every bone screamed protest. Every muscle had reached its absolute limit. Blood continued its slow escape from wounds both visible and internal.
He closed his eyes.
Waited.
Expected someone to come kill him.
---
On the other side, Obito was beside Yuta, who had lost consciousness after using all his cursed energy to deflect that dangerous attack.
"You'll be fine," Obito said, his voice carrying exhaustion that went beyond physical. "You just need to rest."
He sighed—a long, slow exhale that seemed to deflate his entire body. Then looked toward the other side. He wanted to go to Geto. Handle him. Finish this.
But before he could do that, his phone rang.
The sound was jarring—brrrring-brrrring—cutting through the post-battle silence like an alarm clock in a cemetery. Obito grabbed it from his pocket and answered the number that surprised him by being Gojo's.
"Welcome, Obito-kun!" Gojo's voice carried its usual playful tone, completely at odds with the destruction surrounding them. "Where are you? You don't seem to be anywhere I thought. I believe I told you to be ready?"
The voice was joking. At the same time, from the other side, Gojo was moving—looking at buildings that had been destroyed. But at the same time, the number of shamans who hadn't died was significant, because the curses had begun to disperse. This surprised Gojo. He hadn't found Geto and wondered why.
While trying to locate his students, he noticed Panda, Maki, and Inumaki nearby. But he didn't find Obito. So he decided to call quickly.
Of course, his voice during the call was very calm—as if asking about lunch plans.
Silence.
Obito paused. Then decided to explain the night's events.
He spoke. The words came out rough, exhausted, but coherent. He described the battle. The bombs. The Black Flashes. Geto's final attack. Their counter. Everything.
Over time, Gojo's eyes—which had been the calm before the storm—transformed into the storm itself. His face became cold. Serious. For the first time.
"I'll come immediately," Gojo said.
The line went dead.
Direct. No goodbye. No playful remark.
---
Obito, carrying Yuta, was in a state of confusion.
I need to eliminate the body, Obito thought. Destroy it before anything happens. This is the best way to end all future events.
"Yuta," Obito called, shaking the unconscious boy slightly. "Can you hear me? Can you move?"
The young man didn't move. Didn't respond. Was completely unconscious. Cursed energy depletion had put him in his worst state. He wouldn't be able to move for a while.
Damn it, Obito cursed internally. I have to go there and eliminate that body.
His own state: exhaustion unspoken. Cursed energy depletion reaching almost minimum possible. Yet his desire for strong movement remained. So he grabbed Yuta's body and began carrying him toward the location where Geto's body lay.
Fortunately, they were close to the location.
After several minutes—each step feeling like a marathon—Obito successfully arrived at the location. He noted the massive destruction. Craters. Rubble. Evidence of violence everywhere. He went to where the body should be, carrying Yuta over his shoulder.
But—
While preparing to see Geto bleeding and helpless, Obito stopped.
His eyes widened.
"Where the hell is he?"
The crater where Geto had fallen—the one his body had created upon impact—was there. Clearly visible. Undeniable evidence that someone had landed there.
But Geto's body wasn't in it. Anywhere.
Gone.
Disappeared.
Vanished.
Where could he have disappeared to at this moment?
Obito didn't have enough energy to activate Sharingan. So he looked with his normal eyes—eyes that had turned red from sheer anger at Geto's absence. He began guessing reasons for the body's disappearance.
Where did he go? Obito's thoughts raced. Is it possible he managed to escape? Is he using his technique? How? He used such a massive attack—he must be in his most exhausted state. Plus, his physical strength must certainly be in a very weak phase with the physical damage. Impossible for him to be able to escape.
Of course, Obito wasn't thinking about what had actually happened.
During the time he'd been beside Yuta, Hanami had moved with extreme quiet beneath the earth using its forest technique. It had grabbed Geto's body—unconscious after losing massive amounts of blood—and taken him with extreme quiet from beneath the earth. Easily. Smoothly. Then returned the location to normal.
Obito would have been able to detect traces if he'd activated Sharingan.
Unfortunately, his cursed energy had been completely depleted.
He had some physical strength because he'd healed himself and hadn't suffered other damage. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to move—like unconscious Yuta beside him.
Impossible, Obito thought, anger building. Is he going like this? How can I allow that? I need to find him quickly. But how? I don't have any way to find him.
In a state of extreme anger, he couldn't help but release profane sounds from his mouth—curses and insults that would have made sailors blush. "Son of a—" "How the—" "Damn it all—"
Then he stopped.
Tried to regain calm.
Because he was in a state of madness. He'd almost succeeded. Almost destroyed the body. Almost saved the future.
But at this moment, when Geto's body had escaped, he couldn't think of only one reason.
The fireball, Obito realized. The fireball that launched toward me. Plus this escape of Geto's body.
He became cold.
Felt goosebumps.
Could Kenjaku have kidnapped Geto's body while he was unconscious? Does he want to take it to control it?
This wasn't the result he'd wanted to achieve. So he was in a state of shock.
Impossible. I must find him. But my body is in—
The state he'd reached now made it impossible for him to find Geto.
Before he could think more, a blue light appeared in the sky above.
It caught his attention. He raised his head to look at it.
Gojo Satoru hovered in the air, looking at the destruction that had occurred at the school. Rubble. Craters. Evidence of battle everywhere. Then he lowered his head and looked at Obito, who was beside Yuta.
In a short moment, Gojo was beside them.
His cold voice emerged from his mouth as he looked at Obito.
"Where is Geto?"
---
Obito had told Gojo they'd successfully defeated Geto. But at this moment, Obito couldn't say anything. He just looked at the crater.
On the other side, Gojo understood the situation without needing words.
He looked using Six Eyes at the location where Geto's body had been. Analyzed the cursed energy interaction. Tried to understand where the body had disappeared.
At that moment, he spoke in a low voice:
"A curse grabbed his body and took it using its technique."
He couldn't sense any cursed energy from a human capable of being in this form. This meant the cursed energy that allowed Geto to escape must be from a curse that took his body. From the remaining cursed energy traces, it was clear they were still alive...
Impossible, Obito thought. He's alive?
He wanted to punch the ground violently. Tear it apart.
How the hell did he escape?
But—did he just say curse?
Gojo's voice reached Obito, who heard what had happened and reached his conclusion.
"It can't be him who launched this curse or controlled it to escape," Gojo said, his voice carrying dark realization. "This means the curse that took him certainly possesses intelligence. Is it possible it's a special grade curse? What a disaster."
Were they in this place watching the fight? Obito's thoughts spiraled. Damn it. Was terror controlling my body at this moment? Could they have been able to fight? Would they have come to us to fight if we'd discovered them?
At this moment, Obito was trembling. He didn't notice that Gojo was looking at him for several seconds before smiling.
But even if Obito had noticed this, he wouldn't have stopped. His mind was at maximum endurance phase. He'd fought for an entire night against curses—alone with Yuta. He'd refused assistance requests because he intended to destroy Geto's body and ensure future events wouldn't happen.
Unfortunately, Obito realized, the discovery I've reached means I was watched all night by a brain exchanging bodies over 1000 years old. And now, certainly after watching last night's show, he'll know many things about me. Certainly he'll put me in his plan.
And worst of all—
Obito took a deep breath before sighing and thinking that this was the hardest thing that had ever happened to him.
This catastrophic night. The battle. Risking my life. Everything has ended in a catastrophically unbearable way. I managed to corner him at this moment, but he escaped in this pathetic way. And now I'm under Kenjaku's radar. That ancient one has certainly left this place by now after Gojo arrived.
"You need to stay calm," Gojo said, and his voice carried unexpected gentleness. "You did an amazing job defeating Geto. You can rest. I've requested support teams to arrive—they're on the way. Certainly, I'll go search for Geto."
Gojo didn't look back. He just thought that Obito was in a bad state after fighting all night with Geto. Plus, it was clear Obito had wanted to completely eliminate Geto. Gojo understood the reason. He didn't care. He'd decided to go search for Geto's body and where it had disappeared to.
---
After Gojo disappeared—FWIP of teleportation, blue light fading—Obito's body couldn't wait anymore.
He fell to the ground beside Yuta.
It was a night from hell.
He'd been in his most extreme combat state ever reached in his life. He couldn't believe the ending had been such a scene—completely different from the movie. He wondered why Geto's power had been so different. He hadn't used those exploding balls at that time. He hadn't even used such a suicidal attack that almost destroyed the entire area.
He couldn't know the reason.
---
In the original story, Obito's thoughts drifted, Geto was in a state of anger and psychological pain during the fight. But at the same time, he underestimated Yuta until the end. He was able to defeat him. But after Yuta mastered reverse cursed technique—when he wanted to heal Panda, Inumaki, and Maki—his power level changed quickly. Especially after he recovered his endurance using the technique. And at that time, Geto wasn't ready for that confrontation. In the final confrontation against Love Cannon, he couldn't do anything. Lost the final fight. Even after using Uzumaki—his strongest attack.
Unfortunately, because of my presence in this battle, Geto was fighting two at the same time. He realized from the first moment I wasn't easy. So he unconsciously took the fight seriously. And with reverse cursed technique usage plus Black Flash, Geto's instincts forced him to use his best abilities—the ones he'd hidden for a long time. Cursed Spirit Bombs. Curse explosions. Combat arts. He used them all in this battle.
Unlike the original story, of course.
If he'd used them in the original story, he would have won easily.
Of course, Obito wasn't smart enough to think about these things. He just told himself he'd been unlucky. Or that he'd moved to a world completely different from the original stories. The power system's levels were much higher than what they'd been in the original story.
---
Support teams finally arrived at the location.
They witnessed the Academy's destruction with horror-stricken faces. Crumbled buildings. Uprooted forests. Craters everywhere. Evidence of violence beyond imagination.
But when they thought about the events that had happened in all regions because of Geto Suguru, no one could do anything but sigh. They stopped thinking about it.
They grabbed Yuta—still unconscious—and placed him on a stretcher to take him to an ambulance. The stretcher wheels sccchhhhed across debris as they moved.
Someone approached Obito.
"Are you okay?" they asked.
Obito answered that he was fine but needed some time to rest. He was better off because he hadn't been directly injured after using reverse cursed technique. So his physical state was only exhausted—not damaged. At the same time, his cursed energy reserves were low but not dangerous. Especially after he'd landed Black Flash, which helped his cursed energy recover.
Nevertheless, he didn't forget to look at the sunrise.
It had become clear now. Golden light spreading across the horizon. Beautiful. Peaceful. Completely at odds with the destruction below.
Obito sighed deeply. With intense sadness.
He'd failed to execute the mission he'd wanted to accomplish for a long time. He'd been preparing for over six months. But at this moment, he couldn't do anything but be angry about one thing.
Why didn't anyone from the Zenin come? Obito's thoughts burned with fury. Did that old man deceive me? But why would he do that? Doesn't he realize the danger of what would happen with Geto? Or is it his madness?
He wanted to call Naoya's number desperately. He grabbed his phone so hard his knuckles went white. Almost crushed it. The plastic creaked under pressure.
In the end, he could only put it back in his pocket.
What the hell would I say if I called? Obito thought bitterly. It's too late. Screaming at the clan head won't be useful—it'll only make things worse. At least right now, because I'm too angry.
---
Not many things happened after that.
Everyone arrived at Jujutsu Academy—including the director, who, after learning the events from Obito, could only stare in disbelief at the destruction.
Inumaki couldn't believe what he'd heard. Using his special speech method—hand gestures and single words—he expressed his shock at the events that had happened last night.
"Shish..." Inumaki signed, his eyes wide. "Shock."
Panda spoke, stunned, raising his paws and fists. "Are you two really okay?" His voice carried genuine disbelief. "I can't believe you were fighting all this time here!"
The destruction was obvious. Every area of the school had been destroyed. The forest and trees had been obliterated by Geto's spirit explosions. Plus, the exhausting narration of events from Obito—whose body had reached its absolute limits and couldn't speak for long periods—added to the surreal atmosphere.
Obito didn't continue saying anything else. He went to rest inside one of the stretchers after the long fight. Everyone watched him with astonishment as he collapsed onto the medical bed.
Maki took a deep breath while looking at Obito. She felt intense anger at the damage that had happened to the school. But she didn't say anything. She was also tired—had been fighting all night. But that didn't make her feel less shocked while looking at the amount of damage everywhere.
The location where the fighting happened resembles a bomb site, Maki observed silently. The school building—completely destroyed. Forest trees—burned and exploded. So many craters everywhere. Even the cement ground—cut and broken multiple times. Like bombs were thrown everywhere.
She'd never seen anything like it.
None of them had.
The sun continued rising, indifferent to human suffering. Golden light illuminated destruction. Wounds. Failure.
And somewhere, in the darkness beneath the earth, a curse carried an unconscious body toward a future no one could predict.
