Her abdomen tightened in wave after wave of excruciating contractions.
Cold sweat beaded on Celeste Grant's forehead.
'So this is what giving birth is like. It hurts so much.'
'In her old world, she'd never even had a boyfriend. To think that after arriving in this one, she'd skipped right past dating and marriage, slept with a man, and was now having his baby.'
'Sigh. Who had it worse than her?'
Celeste Grant grabbed Nerida's hand.
"Nerida, the pain is killing me."
"Just hang in there, Madam. The baby will be here soon."
Nerida took a cloth and wiped the sweat from her brow, trying to comfort her.
But Celeste Grant's baby just wouldn't come.
"It hurts so much..."
