That evening, Faye Vaughn changed out of her hospital gown and chose a cocktail dress that accentuated the curves of her body.
She had an injury on her shoulder, which she cleverly concealed with a silk scarf.
Before leaving for her appointment, she went to find her attending physician. "Doctor, I have an urgent matter and need to leave the hospital for a bit. I'll be back tonight."
The attending physician looked troubled. "Miss Vaughn, President Hawthorne wants you to stay in the hospital and recover properly. You were already out during the day, and now you want to go out again at night. It will be difficult for me to explain this to President Hawthorne."
Faye Vaughn smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, but I really do have something urgent."
She hurried off.
The attending physician hesitated for a moment, then decided to report the matter to President Hawthorne.
