The tears welling in Faye Vaughn's eyes finally rolled down her cheeks.
She sobbed, "I thought you didn't care about me anymore..."
But Wyatt Hawthorne ignored her.
He walked around her and headed straight for the elevator.
Faye Vaughn scurried after him, letting out a hiccup between sobs. "You were so cool just now."
The elevator doors closed, leaving the two of them in the enclosed space.
Wyatt Hawthorne still didn't pay her any mind.
Faye Vaughn sidled up to him, murmuring to herself, "Your brother is pursuing me, and you're angry, which means you care about me. Just thinking about it makes me happy."
Wyatt Hawthorne shot her a glance.
Teardrops still clung to her cheeks, but she tilted her face up and gave him a goofy, sweet smile.
'Every time she makes him angry, she does this—acts all cute.'
"I don't care. I'm just going to believe that you care about me,"
Faye Vaughn mumbled.
