"Why do you keep meddling in my affairs?" Liam Linden suddenly asked.
Faye Vaughn paused, not answering immediately.
At first, of course, it was all for her mission. She only helped Liam Linden in secret so she could go home and see her parents.
But as time went on, she truly began to feel that his situation was a shame.
If he had been born into an ordinary family, he could have gone to college like anyone else. He would have been one of those vibrant, popular guys on campus, adored by all the girls. He would have had a brilliant future ahead of him, one where he could contribute to society and his country.
But just because he was born into the wrong family, everything was different.
"If I said I'm doing this out of sympathy, would you feel humiliated?" Faye Vaughn said softly, her voice full of sincerity. "I don't want to see a young man who should have a brilliant future stray onto a dark path."
Liam Linden let out a low, hoarse laugh, full of bitterness and self-mockery.
