Penny Thorne didn't expect Sean Quinn's wife to remain so calm after hearing all that.
She tried to stop her and say more, but Sean's wife was already pushing the stroller briskly toward the apartment building.
Sean Quinn pursed his lips and asked softly, "Could you get me a glass of water?"
"Of course." Renee Jennings stood and filled a disposable cup with warm water for him.
After drinking the water, Sean Quinn seemed to be in a trance. "When my wife got home, she didn't ask me a single thing. But her attitude toward me became subtly distant."
He lowered his gaze and gave a self-deprecating laugh. "Our feelings for each other weren't that deep, so even when she grew distant, I didn't ask why. I thought Penny Thorne would finally be out of my life for good, but I never expected..."
When Sean's wife was downstairs with the baby, Penny Thorne appeared before her again.
