Drew Thorne stood beside Jasper Thorne and gave him a brief rundown of what had happened.
Jasper Thorne couldn't help but gasp.
"That's awful!"
They both subconsciously left out the part about hailing a ghost taxi that day, wanting to spare Jasper Thorne from further fright.
"Village Chief, could you please notify Hailey Warren's family?"
Jane Sterling spoke instinctively. Even though Hailey Warren had become... whatever this was, and dragging people to their deaths was an unforgivable crime, the matter still needed a proper investigation. It couldn't just be wrapped up so hastily.
The village chief nodded, quickly stepped aside, and pulled out his phone to make a call.
"I've already sent someone to inform her family. They should be here soon."
Jane squatted down, looking at Hailey Warren. Only her eyes could move; the rest of her body looked as if it had been encased in wood.
