Her fingers gradually loosened their death grip on the blanket, a faint, sharp pain stinging from where her nails had broken.
Chu Yao curled up, wrapping her arms around her shins and burying her head between her knees, shrinking into a tiny ball.
The tears… finally fell.
Silent and soundless, they slowly soaked into the pristine white duvet cover.
The room was utterly quiet; not even the sound of breathing could be heard.
Suddenly, the head buried between her knees shot up. Her pale face was still streaked with tears, but Chu Yao's eyes blazed with a fierce light.
