The car's speed dropped abruptly. Though his mind had already come to a conclusion, Lu Xize's heart was still racing in panic.
He didn't care how late it was and immediately dialed Chu Yao's number.
The first call went unanswered.
Lu Xize's heart gave another painful squeeze.
Fortunately, the second call was answered quickly. Chu Yao's soft mumble came through the phone, "Hello? Brother Lu…"
Chu Yao's voice was faint, as if she hadn't even opened her eyes. The "-ther" in "Brother" trailed off into silence.

He found the text message, frowned, and made the call anyway.
