"Welcome to my life…- I guess" He muttered quietly to himself, while putting an empty glass into a dishwasher.
'Maybe I will get the cowboy quirk, as mom's quirk makes her look kinda like a Wild West's cowgirl…- and get myself a telekinetic lasso or something. I might use an Indiana Jones hero costume. Or Woody's!
'By the way, there are no movies like that here. They have their own unique or slightly altered franchises (mostly hero related nowadays). It's just a coincidence I'm sure, definitely not copyrights or something. But even McDonald's is WcDonald's!'
'And some of the cities or locations are named after Star Wars. Good taste if I can say so myself.'
'There are some exceptions though, franchises like League of Legends…- or Mega-man, but it's few and between.'
"Laito! #$%& #$ we %$% **^$# $@ !$# kindergarten! His mom called him from the hallway."
'Already?' "I am coming mom!" Yogami Laito, the transmigrator, answered.
'Thank God that "Death Note" doesn't exist here or I would get picked on HARD. With a name like that. Hero name: "Kira"...- yea not gonna happen.'
'Why did they name me like that? I dunno, can't understand yet, most of the time, what they are talking about.' He thought as he approached his mum waiting at the exit, holding his yellow cap and bag.
"Hurry up. ^#*^ @*(% shoes *@# )@$! &$, !^ we are *#)^$ to be late."
"Yeees! Mum!"
He put on his shoes and took the hat.
"*$ you @^&* *$ #&$ to $% your shoes)^#!$." she said while pointing at his feet.
"
'She was trying to "teach me" to tie my shoelaces for some time. I obviously know already how to do that…- just sometimes I simply forget to, an airhead that I am. (tee-he)'
So he kneeled fast…- only to realise that they are already tied!?
'Wha-?'
'They weren't tied "good" though, a little loose. So he undid them instinctively to redo them better, but before he tried again…-'
They tied themselves on their own!
–
'Huh.'
He tried again…- and the same happened!
'Okay, if this is what I think it is…-'
He tried once more.
The same happened again.
'Alright I'm pretty sure at this point.' he thought with growing excitement.
"Mom, look!" he got her attention from her checking the time on her wristwatch.
"What is it, sweetie?" She looked at him(He could understand such a simple sentence).
He undid them again…- only for them to lay still on the ground.

–
–
"Eh, Laito?"
'The hell? What is going on? Come on, do your thing!'
And as if responding to his mental command, his shoelaces tied themselves as if they came to life.
–
"AAHHHH! It's your quirk! I'm so happy!. I *^%& #$ &^%$$ *&$@ dad! (*&*( $%& #$ ^%$^%*$% &^$&*% again!" She started talking faster and got more excited with each second, so he lost the plot somewhere alongside the way.
But it didn't matter.
'I HAVE A QUIRK!'
He was jumping around joyfully.
Quirk manifestation is a very important event in the life of a kid (that doesn't already sport a quirk right away after being birthed) in a society full of super heroes (and villains).
Your quirk may serve as a representation and a leading cause for your social reputation. A cool quirk may ease your life, give recognition, wealth and strength.
A reason for celebration.
Evil looking quirks will make you bullied and called a "villain" even though you didn't do anything wrong. That's just how people are prejudiced against things that "look" as a danger to them. Even though it doesn't necessarily need to actually be harmful, for most people looks are the first basis of "judgement", which in turn may increase the amount of actual villains that were only "forced" to become ones, on the basis of societal rejection.
Of course there are also actual evil psychos that get off from attacking people, torturing them or worse, either because they are sick in the head, or on some weird twisted "ideology" thingy.
There is also the Laito's most disliked kind : The edgelords…-(He was just jealous of the aura) hero wannabe's who walk around murdering people thinking they just can do it. And technically, they are correct…- until they aren't.
It does not necessarily apply to small-time vigilantes who only act within their civil rights or with the hero's direct oversight.
Because of all of that, there is a mandatory responsibility for quirk registration, when manifested for the first time. So that heroes have an easier time in analyzing and countering quirk related threats, using earlier provided information.
Though it could wait even until elementary school, his mother decided to take him right away. And that's how Yogami Hikari took her son to the quirk registry center as soon as she could.

'That's…- it?'
After arriving at the place, the people present have guided the boy through a series of light tests and measurements that have been done by a doctor.
'As far as I realized all I can do with my quirk…- is to make my shoelaces tie themselves.'
"We have tested if I can manipulate other things. Like ropes, threads, chains, or even noodles!'
'Nothing.'
'Just my shoelaces.'
'Then I had an Idea and tried to use just a veeeeeeery long shoelaces to see if I could flap them around.'
'Again. Nothing.'
'Apparently there is a "length limit" towards considering what applies as "shoelace" or not.'
'I can't also tie other people's shoelaces, if I could, that could be great for pranks!'
'But noooo~'
'Nothing!'
'And I can't even flap around the shoelaces that I use. Only to make them tie themselves if they are untied.'
'Once they are tied?'
'Nothing once more.'
'Well…- it's pretty bad overall, but still better than no quirk at all!...- Or an "evil but useless one" I guess.''
'Oh, I think the doctor just said that my quirk will be named "Shoelace tying"...- how bland.'
Laito raised his hand to gather his mum's and doctor's attention.
"What is it boy?" doctor asked.
"I want to…- choose!…- my quirk's name." he said in broken Japanese.
"Why not? What do &%^& %$ &^%# boy? The doctor agreed.
"
"Oh. In English? That's fine I guess."
"Alright from now on your quirk's name is:"
"[Tie those damn shoelaces!]...- whatever that means."
