Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Putting It on the Agenda

It wasn't until the moment Lin Mu jumped up from the ground after finishing a thousand push-ups.

Only then did everyone realize why Lin Mu had arrived so late.

"Report, I have finished the one thousand push-ups," Lin Mu said, looking at Dog Head Old Gao without being red-faced or out of breath.

"Extreme armed cross-country, start!" Dog Head Old Gao said helplessly.

In his view, the idea of using push-ups to exhaust Lin Mu's physical strength and then tempering Lin Mu's temperament during the extreme armed cross-country had fallen through.

The reason Dog Head Old Gao had this idea was because he was afraid Lin Mu would develop an arrogant temperament after defeating the Wolf Fang members, thereby ruining such a good prospect.

"Go, someone will lead the way for you," Dog Head Old Gao said, pointing to the backpack behind him.

"Yes!" Lin Mu said.

However, Lin Mu didn't notice that at the moment he jumped up from the ground, thirty Wolf Fang armbands fell out of his pants pocket.

He didn't see it, but the people doing push-ups around Lin Mu noticed.

"I was wondering why Lin Mu arrived so late, so it turns out..." Happy Baby muttered while doing push-ups.

Old Cannon and Zhuang Yan also noticed the thick pile of armbands on the ground from the corner of their eyes, but neither of them spoke.

The moment they noticed the armbands, they stole a glance at Dog Head Old Gao opposite them and found that he was also looking at the armbands on the ground.

Dog Head Old Gao gave Gray Wolf a look, and the latter nodded understandingly, quickly picking up the Wolf Fang armbands from the ground.

They didn't say anything, but every one of them began to admire Lin Mu in their hearts.

Geng Jihui in particular had originally thought Dog Head Old Gao's comment about someone making him unhappy was because of himself; only after seeing Gray Wolf pick up the armbands did he realize the person Dog Head Old Gao was talking about was Lin Mu.

Just as the training camp here at Wolf Fang officially began, several people were already seated in a meeting room at the Southeast Military Region Headquarters.

The people in this meeting room had at least two stars on their shoulders.

In other words, the lowest-ranking person who could attend this meeting was a chief.

After all the participants for the meeting had arrived, the old man sitting in the head seat raised the document bag in his hand.

"This is a top-secret meeting. You all know the confidentiality regulations, so I won't repeat them."

"Actually, even if I don't say it, you can probably guess the contents. From the summary we conducted after the last exercise, we found that times have changed."

"In the past, if we wanted to execute a decapitation strike, we had to rely on Special Forces to complete it. But reality tells us that as long as you have the ability, even if you are a recruit, you can do it."

"Although we have discussed this before, we never made up our minds. We always felt that veterans have experience and know how to manage troops better than those college students who graduate directly from military academies."

"So, after I reported the actual situation of the last exercise, the higher-ups approved our plan."

"Now I will assign the tasks. The College Student Non-Commissioned Officer Plan will be launched after the meeting concludes."

"Two requirements. The first requirement is that their backgrounds must be thoroughly investigated."

"The second requirement is that college student non-commissioned officers can only start as military Commanders of a company."

"Do you have any opinions on these two requirements?" the old man sitting in the head seat asked.

"None," everyone at the meeting said in unison.

These two requirements were reasonable and had no loopholes; it could be said that all possibilities had been considered.

Lin Mu probably never imagined that because of his performance in the exercise, the higher-ups became even more determined in the idea of rejuvenating the troops.

It was also because of him that Company Commander Miao's departure from the army was indirectly accelerated.

"Hmm, the second matter is regarding information technology," the old man nodded and continued after seeing that everyone agreed.

"The higher-ups have handed this plan to our Southeast Military Region, and the candidate has already been selected as Lin Mu. It's just that his enlistment time is still too short and his rank is too low. We can't just promote him directly like this."

After hearing this sentence from the Commander, the others were also momentarily stunned.

They weren't surprised at all that this matter would fall on Lin Mu's head.

After all, Lin Mu not only had the education, experience, and ability, but he also had a team of university professors behind him as support.

And the most important point was that Lin Mu belonged to the type with a clean family history and no background.

"You guys speak first. After all, this is just an attempt. If it can really succeed, the benefits for our troops go without saying," the Commander sitting in the head seat said.

After hesitating for a moment, Gao Shiwei looked toward the head seat and said, "Commander, I have an idea."

"Lin Mu's seniority is not an issue. The army is a place that looks at strength. This isn't an appointment for a position above the regimental level."

"Since Lin Mu's rank is relatively low, we should first attach him to Wolf Fang. He can operate with Wolf Fang normally. After a few years, or by being promoted through merit plus his strength, I believe no one will say anything."

"What do you think of this method?" After Gao Shiwei finished speaking, the people in the meeting room fell into deep thought.

Soon, Gao Shiwei's method received everyone's approval. After all, this was considered the best way for now.

"Old Gao, since you said it, it's settled. I will report to the higher-ups now. This matter cannot be completed overnight. You should also take this opportunity to talk with Lin Mu. This concerns the future of our troops."

"Yes!"

"Good, then the meeting is adjourned."

As the Commander left his seat, the people in the meeting room began to walk out.

Although they said they would talk to Lin Mu, they would have to wait until Lin Mu's training camp at Wolf Fang ended; after all, their ideas hadn't been reported up yet.

Wolf Fang Base.

After watching Lin Mu and his group run 20 kilometers, Dog Head Old Gao knew that wanting to make Lin Mu run until he collapsed was an impossible task.

So today's show of authority would likely end here, as they had other arrangements.

"Gray Wolf, you say geniuses are usually those with weaker physiques. How did we run into such a freak?" Dog Head Old Gao said gloomily.

"Wild Wolf, I bet you're about to laugh in your heart right now. This is a typical case of getting a bargain and still acting like the victim."

Although Dog Head Old Gao was a Squadron Leader of Wolf Fang, his relationship with Gray Wolf and the others had always been good.

This kind of life-and-death brotherhood allowed them to joke around even when their ranks differed by several levels.

"Alright, it seems the matter of Lone Wolf B Team can be put on the agenda. It's just that letting this kid Lin Mu be the captain makes me feel a bit uneasy," Dog Head Old Gao said.

"If Lin Mu were snatched away, you'd be the first one to explode," Gray Wolf said with a smile.
