Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Adventure In The Shadowhall Part I

All of her fans, both in the real world and in the game, are condemning her for the cheating scandal she's currently embroiled in. Everyone wants her to disappear from both worlds. However, there's one person who remains loyal and defends her: her best friend, who she spends every night with. Although they've only known each other for a month, their friendship has grown stronger.

Her eyes were still wide open, staring at her friend, who still wanted to side with her amidst the viral scandal. Her hand was gently grasped by that soft hand, which calmed her heart. Her friend's presence now only made her cry even more.

"Would you like to play with me, Ellen?"

Naturally, she nodded and walked with her friend into the play area. She didn't want to play with her friend yet in this tense situation. Therefore, she decided to wander around a small town where there weren't too many monsters. She wanted to talk with her friend longer to tell him what really happened, so that her friend would trust her completely.

"Flint, thank you for playing with me," she hissed, looking down.

"I've been waiting for you since last night," Flint replied flatly.

Her eyes widened. "What?"

"How foolish of me to expect you to play with me last night. I thought you'd be active again. Even when I woke up, I was hoping to at least play with you again."

"Actually, last night I had a date with my boyfriend at the hotel."

Flint laughed in annoyance, moving his lips left and right. "He doesn't deserve to be your boyfriend."

Ellen paused in front of a cafe. She kept her head down, imagining the moment when she and her lover seemed fine in the hotel. However, everything had changed since she woke up in the hotel room and was accused of being a slut who stole another man. Speaking of Harley, who had always been sweet to her, did he truly love her?

"I'm actually confused about whether Harley truly loves me or not. We've been dating for a year, but we haven't been spending much time together lately."

"But, you still think your love story is sweet?"

"Because in my entire life, I've never experienced what dating is like. My parents died in an accident when I was a teenager. I had no one else to be with. So when Harley approached me and said he loved me, I immediately believed him."

"This is why I've never trusted anyone in my life. I hate people who pretend to be nice to me," Flint grumbled.

Despite Flint's grumbling, Ellen was relieved to find someone willing to listen to her story. Unlike all her fans who would only curse her until she could barely breathe. However, she was still curious. Why did Flint still want to trust her in such a tense situation? After all, Flint had already admitted that he didn't trust anyone easily in his life.

"Flint, you said you never trusted anyone. Why do you still want to play around with me when I'm in the middle of a scandal?"

"I did trust you from the start," Flint said with an intense gaze.

"Flint…" Her eyes grew even more teary hearing a man believe her for the first time.

Flint smiled sweetly, took out a handkerchief, and wiped away the tears that continued to flow down his friend's cheeks. "I don't think this is the right time to play together. I have to be a good listener for you. I want you to tell me the truth because I'm your best friend."

Ellen nodded, leading her friend into the cafe and taking a seat near the window. Fortunately, their current mission had no time limit, allowing them to stay in this world longer. She also didn't want to miss this opportunity to share anything with her friend, who had always been a good listener. Seeing Flint, still wearing a sweet smile before her, made her heart start to pound.

"Actually, I'm a loser. How stupid of me to trust Harley so easily. I shouldn't have trusted him in the first place. When I first started dating Harley, I thought he was cute. Then, a month after we started dating, he got an offer to star in an adult romantic drama with Lauren. At the time, I didn't suspect them because it might have been a coincidence that they were offered roles in the same drama twice. However, it seems like it was planned from the start that Harley was only interested in Lauren."

Flint still didn't want to comment. His task now was to wipe away the tears that continued to flow down his friend's cheeks.

Ellen stared at her friend with sparkling eyes, desperately hoping that he truly believed her and could be the only person she could confide in. "By the way, are you tired of hearing my overly sad story?"

"No. Instead, you should vent everything to me so you won't feel suffocated anymore."

"Flint…"

"Don't stop talking, Ellen. I'll never get tired of hearing it."

Hearing Flint's firm words, Ellen flashed a beaming smile, clasping her friend's hands. "You're different from him."

Flint immediately raised his head arrogantly. "Of course. Harley's a jerk, and I'm a good guy."

Every time Flint joked with her, Ellen would burst out laughing, instantly forgetting all her troubles. She admitted that Flint was indeed a very good man in her life. Although Flint still hadn't revealed his true identity, she hoped he wouldn't be like Harley.

"You finally laughed, Ellen."

"Really?"

"Since you're the victim, you should be laughing. Don't ever show that annoying face again in front of that bastard and your fans." A heavy sigh escaped his lips. "I'm sick of seeing all your fans wishing you dead. You're not a bad woman, after all."

"At first I thought you would be like them. You would slander me without looking at the facts."

"I don't easily criticize someone. If they've been genuinely kind to me, then I'll trust them."

"Flint…"

"I'm not asking you to forget all the problems you experienced last night. But, it would be better if you forgot about your ex-boyfriend. Because you should be seeking revenge on him."

"Revenge?"

Flint glanced at the luxury watch on his left wrist for a moment. "How about we continue playing now? I really want this game to take your mind off your troubles for a while."

Thanks to the entertainment from her bestfriend, now she is smiling brightly and excited to play games again. "Well, we can't stay in the game anyway."

As they ran out of the cafe, only a kilometer away, there were monsters surrounding them now.
