The silver light at the tip of Lynn's wand initially diffused like morning mist, but in an instant, it began to contract wildly inward.
The silver mist grew thicker and brighter, eventually transforming into a pure white sphere of light—only the size of a basketball, yet so brilliant it was impossible to look at directly.
Immediately after, the sphere began to grow and change.
Its outline formed rapidly, its edges becoming clear—first a long, elegant neck, then a streamlined body, followed by unfolding feathers, magnificent wings, and finally long tail feathers.
The entire process took no more than a breath.
As the incantation was clearly spoken, the Patronus had already taken shape:
"Expecto Patronum!"
A lifelike silver phoenix, almost identical to Levi, burst free from the wand.
Its wings scattered shimmering motes of light as it surged forward with unstoppable momentum, charging toward the Dementors still radiating chilling cold in the air.
"Aba—! (Food! Fresh food!)"
Perhaps it had been too long since it left Azkaban, or perhaps Lynn seemed like an irresistibly tempting feast—one of the Dementors appeared particularly "enthusiastic."
Instead of recoiling like the others at the sight of the Patronus, it let out a greedy hiss and lunged downward, heading straight for Lynn—and the phoenix.
Its movement even carried a trace of impatience.
"Tsk, there really is one that isn't afraid of death," Lynn raised an eyebrow.
The next moment—
The silver phoenix collided with the pitch-black despair.
There was no explosion.
Only a sharp, agonized howl tore from the Dementor.
Its form hissed and rapidly blurred, the once-solid black cloak dissolving like smoke in a gale, leaving only a faint, wailing shadow drifting backward.
"Aba—! (Run! Danger!)"
Even without the warning, the remaining Dementors had already begun to retreat the moment the Patronus appeared.
Seeing their companion's miserable end, whatever greed remained was instantly replaced by fear—if such creatures could even feel it.
They emitted a series of unintelligible sounds and fled in all directions, abandoning the "delicious" soul below and moving far faster than when they had arrived.
Clearly, while they fed on negative emotions and lacked intelligence, they still possessed a basic instinct for danger.
As for the one that had charged forward earlier—
It was probably considered an "idiot" even among Dementors.
"Yo, running away already?" Lynn watched the scattering black shapes, clearly unwilling to let them leave so easily.
At the very least, they needed to be taught a lesson.
He cast Sonorus and called out toward their fleeing backs:
"Since you're already here, why not stay for a while? My place is quite spacious—and I have special snacks!"
His voice echoed clearly through the quiet morning, carrying an oddly enthusiastic tone.
Most of the Dementors accelerated their escape.
However—
One of them hesitated.
After flying some distance, it actually glanced back.
That single glance—
Its "gaze" met Lynn's.
He stood below, smiling brightly up at it.
The smile grew increasingly "kind," and he even waved, revealing a row of white teeth gleaming in the sunlight.
Very good.
Assessment complete.
A bit foolish—but capable of basic "interaction."
"Since you looked back, I'll take that as you accepting my invitation," Lynn thought matter-of-factly, raising his wand again without hesitation.
A group might be difficult to chase.
But catching one?
That was easy.
The phoenix in the air beat its wings, transforming into a streak of silver light as it shot after the hesitant Dementor at incredible speed.
The fleeing Dementor sensed the rapidly approaching Patronus and let out a panicked howl that seemed to contain all its emotions:
"Aba—!!! (Don't come over here!!!)"
"Do you still dare to look back?" Lynn flicked his wand, directing the chase.
"Aba! Aba aba! (I don't dare! I'll never dare again!)"
Just as Lynn was thoroughly "educating" the Dementor, his phone vibrated in his pocket.
Caller ID: Edgar Burns.
"Hello?"
Edgar's voice burst through, brimming with urgency:
"Lynn! Lynn! Have you seen this morning's Daily Prophet? Front-page headline—huge news!"
"That Death Eater, Sirius Black—the one who killed over a dozen Muggles and Peter Pettigrew—he's escaped from Azkaban!"
"My god, that's Azkaban! They say he's the first person ever to escape!"
"The Ministry is in chaos. Minister Fudge has gone mad and deployed most of the Dementors to search everywhere for him!"
"The paper says Sirius could appear anywhere—telling all wizards to stay alert and report anything suspicious immediately—"
Lynn only half-listened and replied casually:
"Oh, Dementors? I've already seen them."
Edgar went silent.
Then his voice shot up:
"What?! Seen them? What's going on? Lynn, where are you? Don't tell me those things went to your place?! That's ridiculously unlucky!"
Lynn thought for a moment, then decided to respond directly.
"Mm. See for yourself."
He shifted the phone from his shoulder, flipped the camera, and pointed it forward.
In the frame—
The phoenix Patronus hovered gracefully in midair.
Beneath its radiant light, a Dementor—curled into a miserable ball and twitching slightly—was being thoroughly beaten into submission.
On the other end, Edgar audibly sucked in a breath.
Then silence.
A few seconds later, he spoke again:
"You… you beat up… a Dementor? The Ministry's…"
He trailed off, then finally managed:
"...Whatever. As long as you're happy."
"Yeah, let's not chat for now," Lynn said. "I still need to continue 'reasoning' with it. It really doesn't know how many tricks I have."
Without waiting for a reply, he hung up.
Almost immediately, another call came in.
Ollie.
Lynn sighed and answered again.
"Hello? I'm busy educating the Ministry's prison guards."
Ollie paused.
"Dementors?"
"Correct. No prize for guessing."
There was a brief silence.
Then Ollie said slowly:
"Edgar told me… a prisoner escaped from Azkaban…"
