Chapter 19 - The Rabbit that messed with a snake

The two girls exchanged glances and then burst out laughing.

"A guest?"

"Be more realistic with your lies, will you?"

They didn't believe I was a guest simply because I was brought to their servant wing. Sure, no guest would be taken to such a humble place to begin with.

"I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say yes, you are a guest," the raccoon girl said. "But I don't think you're that important. If not, you wouldn't be here."

I let them chatter on, and when they were done, I yawned.

"Are you finished?" I asked, and they looked at me, uncomfortably. "If you're done, then show me your rooms. I'll choose where I want to stay by myself."

"You... Who do you think you are?" The scally neck girl yelled at me, and before she knew it, my palm slammed into her cheek, and she fell at the impact.

"Not someone you can mess with, that's who," I said, brushing my wrist as they looked at me in disbelief. "Now, show me your rooms, or I'll start swinging my wrist without discrimination."

They got scared of my threats and led me to their rooms.

The three of them shared one room, which was why they were so close and thought they could gang up on me.

I wasn't a worker, so they couldn't even report me for assault. And if I were indeed someone important who had been put there for hiding, they would be in trouble for the discourtesy they showed me,

So they didn't report altogether.

They could only grit their teeth and watch me lie on their bed.

The room was clean and had perfect sunlight. Now this was a good resting spot.

It was a bit small for my standards, but better than the dirty attic they tried to throw me in.

Caelum must think the girl he likes is a kind saint, but she's full of schemes. Trying to show her competition that she's on top and put me in my place? Tch, she's a hundred years too early to be scheming against me.

I lay on the bed, one leg resting on the other, and my eyes on the ceiling. I'd like to look around, but maybe later. I'm feeling so sleepy, so I should just take a nap once again.

And so, I slept, discrediting the threat of that little 'harmless' rabbit.

Well, I soon regretted not breaking that little thing through when I woke up to a douse of dirty water and the culprits fleeing through the door.

I sat up, my body, hair, and everything on me, smelling badly and dripping disgustingly.

I sat there, my eyes raging and my instinct to kill kicking in.

That bitch...

Beatrice did not show her face around me anytime soon. I walked around with my smelly body, looking for that bitch, but then I heard she had gone to serve lunch at the main building.

So, she ran away, huh?

I don't believe she can run forever.

I had to change out of the coat and take a bath, washing off the stink, but all the time, I raged, thinking of how I was going to get back at that bitch.

There was a lot I could do, but I planned to do the one thing that would sting her right in the heart.

And so, I stood in wait.

Once Beatrice came back to her room with her two minions, they found me sitting by the window, gazing at the moonlight.

It was time for dinner, but I hadn't eaten a thing. I planned to sneak into the main mansion and get some of that exquisite meal, but first things first.

I turned my sharp golden gaze to Beatrice and the other two. They flinched as soon as they met my eyes.

"You... You're still here?" Beatrice stuttered and then looked towards the bed that was still soaked with her stinky water. The entire place felt heavy with the heavy stench.

"Why? Is there someplace I should be right now?" I asked, getting down from the window frame, and they stood at alert.

The scally neck girl felt especially on alert, having tasted my slap before. She knew it was not a pain she'd like to receive a second time, and yet they dared to mess with me.

I don't care if it was only one person who did it, or if it was a collective effort... The three of them were just as guilty.

I stepped towards them, stood in front of the raccoon girl, and before she knew it, I tore a hot slap across her cheek, and she fell to the ground, yelping in pain.

"You know, I don't quite get you," I said, rubbing my finger tips together, like there was something there. Maybe a spec of dust? "You clearly fear me," I turned to the scaly-necked girl next. "And yet you still tempt me. Is it bravery or stupidity?" I asked.

"What are you talking about?" Beatrice asked.

"You need to work better on your acting, Beatrice," I said, and the next slap landed on the scally neck's face.

She screamed, crying as she held her face. I had used my claws this time, making sure I drew blood.

"How do you not learn your lesson?"

"Please stop this," Beatrice yelled, falling to her knees as she knew she was next, but I smiled, patting her shoulder.

"You know I'm not someone you can handle, and yet you test me. This is your fault." I said and then walked away without doing anything to her.

Both of them cried, holding their faces, which I had nearly disfigured, while Beatrice knelt there, her heart thumping heavily in fear and panic.

She grabbed her arms and muttered,

"Demon,"

Yes, I'm a demon, and I'm about to show her what a demon is capable of.
