Chapter 15
Peter's
The room was very dark. The only light came from a single red bulb that hung down from the middle of the ceiling. It was a small bulb, but it was enough to cover the entire room in a deep, red glow. The corners of the room were filled with darkness that seemed to stretch across the walls as I moved. I stood by the tall window and looked out at the night. I leaned one of my shoulders against the wooden frame of the window, trying to relax. I held a cigarette between my fingers. I watched as the small cloud of smoke drifted toward the cold glass and disappeared into the darkness outside.
I felt a small smile touch my mouth. It was the kind of smile that came when you knew a secret that no one else knew yet.
