Chapter 17 - Reunion.

'I am so bored.'

Rain's day was going really bad, well, it wasn't bad, it was just plain boring. The school let her go early because the teacher got sick, so she was returning home. It didn't help that her "friends" all had plans that did not involve her, and then there is also the fact that she had a test next week of biology, she hated the subject and procrastinated until now to study.

"Aghhhh… why do I have to be an only child?""

Rain always wanted to have siblings. Her father was always working and her mother was… Well, for a lack of a better word, old! She couldn't talk to her about her interests, plus, mom couldn't help her with homework or study, she was completely clueless! Her classmates were also a bunch of dummies, so she was by herself.

'If only I had a big brother or sister… Then they could understand me, help me… Hell, even help me cheat for all I care!'

As she reached her home, she saw an expensive PTV parked outside, with a tall man leaning on it. She went to him, curiosity beating her instincts.

"Ahh… hello? Why are you here?"

The man was imposing, but his eyes showed kindness, he smiled and pointed to her home.

"Huh? Inside my home?"

The man nodded.

'Okay… That's weird…'

She decided to climb the steps to her home and used her keys to open the door.

"Dad! Mom! There's a weird man out…side…"

What met her was a scene that she would never have even imagined.

Her parents were sitting on the couch, in front of them, two people were sitting, one man, and one woman, they were really similar to each other, siblings, perhaps?

The man had black long hair that was tied behind it, onyx, hollow eyes. His skin was clean, pale and angular, really handsome.

He was even wearing formal clothing, gloves for some reason.

The woman was similar, black hair and obsidian eyes, alabaster skin and was wearing a long suit that enhanced her curves and beautiful body. But there was something bothering her, like she was in constant pain.

Her parents were sweating from nervousness, mother had set up tea for the guests, but they have yet to drink any.

The woman smiled.

"Finally, we were waiting."

Her voice was sweet, alluring, and beautiful. Any man would fall for her by her presence alone.

The one on her side merely watched her, looking with… Longing?

"What's… Going on?"

"Sweaty… please sit, could you?"

Her mother's voice was shaky, Rain could tell these people were important, enough that her father's position at the government meant nothing. They could destroy everything and it wouldn't matter to them.

Rain walked to the armchair that was between the two couches. On her right the strangers, on her left her parents.

The boy kept looking at her the whole way through, not in a creepy way, in a… Sad and solemn way.

Suddenly, the woman in black asked a question, her tone was not betraying the anger and pain she was feeling.

"Well, now that she is here, can I block the light? I don't really like the sun you see… I prefere… The dark."

The boy sighed and rolled his eyes.

Rain's father answered almost immediately.

"O-Of course Lady Revel!"

"Good."

Suddenly, the whole living room was consumed by darkness, all the light was extinguished, leaving Rain blind.

She screamed in surprise, it was a strange sensacion, to be blind with your eyes open.

Her mother's scream echoed, she was scared.

"W-What's happening?! Rain? Where are you?"

"Oh please calm down, you are not going to die drama queen. Just sit where you were already"

The woman, Revel, as Rain's father called her, said. Her voice was much more relaxed now, the pain was gone, as if she was in her natural habitat now.

Rain remained in her seat, it was obvious now, the woman was an Awakened, a powerful one, maybe even a Master, or a Saint! What was she doing here!?

"Rev, was that really necessary? You are scaring them."

"Sunny, please let me have this… I have been fighting the urge for 20 minutes!"

"It was only 10 but whatever, I'm turning on the light from my communicator, don't cover it, would you?"

"Can't you see in the dark too?"

"I can see in the shadows, not darkness, big difference. I am as blind as Cassie right now."

The woman sighed as a white light finally appeared in the room coming from the boy's, Sunny apparently, communicator.

Rain's parents were even more nervous, her mother sat back down. And her father kept looking down.

"Who 's Cassie?"

Revel asked Sunny with real curiosity in her voice.

"My friend, she is blind."

Revel looked like she had a thousand questions.

"You have friends?"

The man, 'Sunny', glared at the lady, but she interrupted him before he could say anything.

"Either way, time to talk about why we are here."

"Ahhh, can I ask something…?"

Rain finally found the courage to say something.

Everyone in the room looked at her, giving her permission.

Then, she looked at the two guests and asked.

"Who are you?"

'I am your long lost brother that wants to talk with you.'

That's what Sunny wanted to say, but that would be so weird.

"My name is Sunless, this is Revel, my sister. And I want to talk with you."

Rain looked at him confused. Then, her adoptive father intruded.

"If I may… Rain, these are very important people… From the great clan of Song."

The girl's eyes shrunk in shock, slowly absorbing what he said.

"Great… Clan… Song…"

Revel had the biggest smile of her life while the poor girl began to blush in embarrassment.

"Don't worry Rain, me and Sunless are merely children of the Clan head, it's not a big deal!"

'Revel I am going to curse you!'

Rain was even more red, and became just as nervous as the adoptive parents!

"W-Well, Lady Revel, L-Lord Sunless… Why are you here…?"

Sunny sighed, it was time.

"For you Rain."

Now everyone looked at him, Revel with expactacion, the others with nervous curiosity.

"Rain, you know you are adopted right?"

She nodded. He continued.

"Do you… Remember anything from your… Past family?"

"Well… I was very little, so no, I don't."

Sunless sighed again, and looked down.

"I had a whole speech prepared but… It doesn't fit now…

Rain, you have a brother."

The girl's eyebrows raised in surprise.

"What… No I am…"

She looked at her adoptive parents.

"Is that true?"

The parents were shocked, who would have thought that choice from so long ago would come back to haunt them.

"Rain, look we only wanted to-"

"It is true! You said I was from an orphanage, did you leave my brother there and never even talked about him? Do you even bother to know who he was?! Or you just left him there?!"

Sunny could tell that Rain behaving like this was rare judging from the adoptive parents' expressions.

Still, her anger was warranted, she just found out a part of her family that she didn't even know existed was hidden by someone she called "father" and " mother".

Anyone would be furious.

"He could be dead for all I know! He could even hate me, and you still kept it away from me?"

"I would never hate you."

Rain stopped and looked back at Sunless.

"Even if you completely forgot about me, if you thought I was a bother, a fool who doesn't deserve attention, I would never hate you."

Rain's eyes widened.

"Bacause you are my sister, and nothing will ever change that."

The room was quiet, no one dared to say a word, reality crashing down on them.

Rain began walking towards Sunny.

"Brother?"

"I mean how am I supposed to remember all of this!?"

Rain showed a page full of words of biology to Sunny, it was… Too much, a lot of words about the full process of the genetic system.

They were in her bedroom, it was what you would expect from a teenage girl, makeup, clothes, and magazines of the latest trends. Sitting on her bed, both of them were talking until the topic of study came and Rain started to vent her frustrations.

Sunny stared at the book and then at Rain.

"They make you remember all of this?"

"Didn't they make you?"

"No, if Saint Lunae saw this he would destroy your school."

Sunny's teacher was someone that hated the standard school system, seeing it as extremely flawed and uninterested in actually teaching students, just making them decorate the subjects.

So his methods were extremely different, and they worked.

"You were taught by a Saint?!"

"Well, yeah, I am the adopted son of one of the two biggest legacy clans."

His flat face and tone as if he was stating a fact pissed Rain off.

"Don't be so smug about it!"

She pouted, which made Sunny laugh.

A loud crash was heard by the siblings, it came from the living room.

"Ahhh… Are they going to be okay?"

Sunless was uncertain, but still answered.

"Revel won't kill them… I think."

"Hey, why does Lady Revel hate them that much?"

"Because they didn't take me. She thinks they abandoned me just to have an 'ideal' family with you…"

Rain looked down, hugging her legs.

"Isn't that what they did?"

Sunless didn't have an answer to that, but his flaw forced him to answer anyway.

"Maybe… I don't know."

He really didn't know how to feel, in fact, he didn't feel anything, it was so long ago, and he was now the son of Ki Song.

"Well, it made my mother adopt me and meet my other sisters, so in the end it worked out."

"Sisters? As in multiple?"

Rain sharpened her eyes, was it jealousy he was seeing?

"Well, yeah, I have 7 sisters including Revel. All of them are adopted by Ki Song."

"YOU HAVE 7 SISTERS?"

"Yeah. Don't you know that? The Song sisters are pretty popular Saints."

Rain looked like she wanted to punch her brother.

"Either way, Rain, there is a reason why I came here today…"

She looked at him intently.

"I am a sleeper, tomorrow, it is the Winter Solstice, I am going to the Dream Realm."

"But… We just…"

He grabbed her shoulders.

"I know… This wasn't the plan, I wanted to meet you after I became an Awakened, but I can't guarantee anything anymore…"

"Why? You are not making sense!"

"Because I am going to an unknown zone…"

It was like a bombshell was dropped under Rain, she looked scared and angry.

"Why did you come here then? You come here just to get out? You are being selfish!!"

Sunless gave her a sad smile.

"Yes, I am, I just wanted to see you one last time…"

His selfish, last request. To see his little sister.

He hugged her small body, she hugged back tightly, not wanting to let go.

"So can I make my selfish request?"

Sunless looked her in the eyes.

"Of course Rain, whatever you want."

Sem shifted slightly.

"Can I go to your house?"
