Chapter 24 - Taking on Underlings

The moment they saw the pearl, which was the size of a longan fruit, Wu Shihao and the others' breaths quickened. Even though they weren't very knowledgeable, they knew this pearl was definitely valuable.

Da Wei, Xi Wei, and Ya Qi looked at the pearl in Han Shaoqing's hand, their eyes filled with greed and a hint of eagerness.

As for the Spatial Ring, they didn't know it was a treasure, only thinking that Han Shaoqing had conjured the pearl through trickery.

Wu Shihao subtly gave the three of them a warning look, and they suppressed their unusual thoughts.

Da Wei and the others' gazes naturally couldn't escape Han Shaoqing's notice, but he didn't care.

As the saying goes, skill gives one courage. Han Shaoqing couldn't say he was invincible, but facing Wu Shihao, Da Wei, and the others was absolutely a one-sided victory, so he naturally didn't worry that they would try to double-cross him.

Xi Wei's eyes darted around, looking at the pearl in Han Shaoqing's hand, and he exaggerated, "Wow, such a big pearl, it must be very valuable, right? Brother Hao, we're rich now!"

"Yeah, Brother Hao, we met a benefactor today!"

Upon seeing the goods and hearing Wu Shihao's warning, Da Wei's expression also changed.

Wu Shihao had been tempted as well, but he wasn't the type to be ignorant of the consequences. Moreover, he was relatively cautious. He looked at Han Shaoqing and said, "I'd like to ask my brothers first, to see if they're willing."

"Of course, I never force anyone," Han Shaoqing said.

Hearing this, Wu Shihao looked at Da Wei, Xi Wei, and Ya Qi: "What do you guys think?"

Da Wei said, "Brother Hao, we're all listening to you."

Xi Wei followed, "Brother Hao, we came to Hong Kong with you to make a living. We're all brothers, and we're of one mind. Whatever you say, we'll do. We trust you."

"Ah ba ah ba!"

Ya Qi mumbled a couple of times, then nodded heavily.

Wu Shihao was moved. His brothers trusted him so much, and of course, he wanted to secure a good future for them.

Han Shaoqing, standing before them, had an extraordinary aura. Right from the start, he had produced invaluable pearls. Even if they ended up doing poorly following him, it couldn't be worse than their current situation.

Thinking this, Wu Shihao called out to Han Shaoqing, "Brother Qing, from now on, we brothers are with you."

Since they were going to follow Han Shaoqing, they naturally had to recognize him as their elder brother.

Da Wei: "Brother Qing!"

Xi Wei: "Brother Qing!"

Ya Qi: "Aba aba."

Da Wei and the others followed, but Ya Qi couldn't speak, so no one understood what he was saying.

Wu Shihao, fearing Han Shaoqing had misunderstood, explained, "Brother Qing, this is Ya Qi. He was seriously ill as a child and can't speak, please excuse him."

"No problem."

Han Shaoqing nodded. "Let's go get some money first, then change into some new clothes."

Han Shaoqing was currently shirtless, and while he didn't mind being seen, it wasn't ideal to stay that way.

Wu Shihao nodded. "I'll do whatever you say, Brother Qing!"

Poverty breeds short-sightedness. Right now, Wu Shihao just wanted to make money, lead his brothers to wealth, and then bring his wife and children to Hong Kong to enjoy life.

He had a feeling that working with Han Shaoqing would be dangerous.

But fortune favors the bold, and he always remembered what his father had said before he died.

生死有命,富貴在天!

Fate is in the hands of the heavens, wealth and honor are preordained!

Now that there was an opportunity, even if there was danger, it was worth a gamble.

Han Shaoqing patted Wu Shihao on the shoulder, placing the pearls into Wu Shihao's hands. "Don't worry, we're brothers now. I guarantee you won't regret today's decision."

He didn't intend to be a lone wolf. Newly arrived in Hong Kong, having people work for him would make things easier.

The world was in a period of development. Most of the later superheroes hadn't been born yet, and the locations to check in at were limited.

Han Shaoqing planned to set a small goal: to establish his own territory in Hong Kong, then develop steadily, and intervene at the appropriate time.

And in modern society, money was indispensable.

Under Wu Shihao's lead, Han Shaoqing arrived at a pawnshop in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Wu Shihao handed the pearl to the pawnshop owner.

"Hmm, good stuff. I'll give you twenty thousand."

"Twenty thousand?"

Hearing the price, Wu Shihao couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

The pawnshop owner glanced at Han Shaoqing and the others, "This is the going rate. I can't offer any more!"

Han Shaoqing didn't know much about the current market, and frankly, he wasn't interested in money anymore. He nodded casually, "Deal."

Upon hearing this, the pawnshop owner was overjoyed. This top-quality pearl, with its appearance, luster, and roundness, was exceptional. The market price could reach at least eighty thousand. If it went to auction, it could fetch even more.

He should have offered ten thousand, knowing they wouldn't haggle.

After getting the money, Han Shaoqing immediately handed it to Wu Shihao: "Use this. If it's not enough, come find me."

"Thank you, Brother Qing."

With Han Shaoqing's confirmation, Wu Shihao accepted the money, becoming even more certain that he hadn't misjudged the man.

In those days, twenty thousand Hong Kong dollars was a huge sum. Han Shaoqing gave it to them without even batting an eyelid. You wouldn't find a second boss in Hong Kong who was so generous.

Twenty thousand Hong Kong dollars was already a huge sum for Wu Shihao and the others.

They knew that in this era, working hard for a month would only earn them two to three hundred Hong Kong dollars.

After paying rent and utilities, and deducting living expenses, there wouldn't be much left.

Having come into contact with such a large sum of money for the first time, Wu Shihao and the others were trembling with excitement.

With this money, the brothers could all build a big house back home, and the three bachelors could finally find wives.

Han Shaoqing didn't laugh at them. He reached into his bag (Spatial Ring) and took out a well-preserved piece of porcelain, placing it on the counter. "Boss, take a look."

The pawnshop owner examined it repeatedly, then carefully set it down, visibly excited. "This should be Official Kiln porcelain from the Song Dynasty. You seem like a straightforward man, so I won't play games with you. If you're willing to sell it outright, I'll offer three hundred thousand Hong Kong dollars."

Wu Shihao and the others gasped.

Han Shaoqing's expression was calm as he glanced at the pawnshop owner, seemingly exerting invisible pressure.

The pawnshop owner felt as if he were being watched by a primordial beast. He couldn't help but swallow, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and nervously held up five fingers. "Five hundred thousand. That's the highest I can go."

"Deal."

Han Shaoqing nodded. The pawnshop owner went to the bank and retrieved a box of Hong Kong dollar bills, each with a face value of five hundred.

In the 1960s, the largest denomination of Hong Kong currency was 1,000 Hong Kong dollars, but it was more of a commemorative item than something used in everyday transactions. Most people earned only two or three hundred Hong Kong dollars a month, and hadn't even seen a 500 Hong Kong dollar note.

After the exchange of money and goods was confirmed, Han Shaoqing, carrying the money box, went with Wu Shihao and his three brothers to the commercial district of Tsim Sha Tsui.

Tsim Sha Tsui was one of the most prosperous areas in Hong Kong.

Once they arrived there, Wu Shihao and his three brothers became more and more excited. With money in their pockets, they felt lightheaded, as if they were dreaming.

Han Shaoqing took out ten thousand Hong Kong dollars from his pocket and gave it to Wu Shihao: "Ah Hao, the previous twenty thousand was for your relocation expenses. This ten thousand is for you four brothers to spend. Each of you buy a few suits. If you're going to follow me, you can't lose face."

"Thank you, Brother Qing."

Getting another ten thousand in the blink of an eye, Wu Shihao and his three brothers didn't know what to say.

The five of them went to a high-end clothing store.

But before he could enter, the female attendant who opened the door stopped him.

"I'm sorry, sir. This is a high-end clothing store. Those not properly dressed are not allowed inside."

"What counts as properly dressed?" Han Shaoqing asked.

The female attendant thought Han Shaoqing was quite handsome, and the muscles on his body made her blush and her heart race. But for the sake of her job, she still said seriously, "At least a tie."

Han Shaoqing took out a five-hundred Hong Kong dollar bill. "Is this enough to buy a tie?"

"Yes, yes, it's enough. Please, follow me."
