"Boom! Boom!"
"Pidgey!"
In front of a large tree, Pidgey repeatedly slashed and pecked at the trunk with stubborn determination.
The bark was covered in deep scratches and peck marks, and a thin line of blood had already begun to seep from Pidgey's claws.
"Alright, Pidgey, let's take a break," Icarus called out. He had been doing his own physical training nearby, and the moment he saw blood appear again, he immediately stopped the session.
Since this was his first time training Pokémon, he didn't dare push too far. As soon as there was bleeding from Pidgey's claws or beak, he would stop, spray wound medicine, and let him rest.
Fortunately, Pidgey wasn't an ordinary bird—it was a Pokémon. After being treated with wound spray, the small cuts healed quickly, and once he recovered, he resumed striking the tree to continue sharpening.
Meanwhile, Bellsprout trained his basic moves before focusing again on understanding his Poison-type techniques.
Soon, the entire morning passed. When it was time for lunch, Pidgey's beak was so sore he could barely eat.
"Pidgey…" He stared at the delicious Bug-type meat in front of him but didn't have the strength to break it apart. Frustration flickered in his eyes, and for a moment, he even felt like giving up.
"Come on, Pidgey, let's apply the medicine first. We'll stick with this for a few more days and see the results. I'll chop up the meat and feed you," Icarus said quickly, sensing his mood.
"Hiss—"
He sprayed wound medicine onto Pidgey's claws and beak.
"Pidgey!" Startled by the sting, he cried out in pain.
"It's okay, it won't hurt for long. I'll give you a painkiller in a moment."
"Sprout! Sprout!" Bellsprout put down his own food and gently patted Pidgey with his leaf, offering comfort.
"Pidgey…" Tears welled up in his eyes, but he stayed quiet.
After Icarus fed him a few painkillers and applied the bone-strengthening powder, Pidgey gradually stopped feeling the pain. He obediently let Icarus treat his claws and beak.
"Today's only the first day, so we used painkillers. But I hope you'll grow stronger and endure it yourself later. Taking too many painkillers will slow your nerve response."
As he chopped the Bug-type meat into small pieces and fed it to Pidgey, Icarus explained the drawbacks.
"This training will last at least a week. You recover quickly because you're a Pokémon—but if you rely on painkillers every time, your reaction speed will definitely decrease."
"Pidgey… Pidgey!" With his mouth being fed, he nodded, promising he'd try to endure it next time.
"After lunch, we'll take a nap. In the afternoon, you'll continue practicing Quick Attack. Try to shorten the recovery time after using it, and reduce the startup delay."
"Pidgey!" Hearing that he wouldn't need to use his claws and beak again immediately, he perked up.
Icarus added at once, "That's to help the medicine absorb properly. After dinner, we'll continue sharpening."
"Pidgey…" Slightly reluctant, he still agreed.
Icarus sighed inwardly. Today and tomorrow, he could still rely on his authority as a Trainer to push through. But if there were no visible results, he wouldn't force it—damaging the bond between Trainer and Pokémon wasn't worth it.
Given how quickly Pokémon recover, he should see progress within two days.

The next evening, when Icarus helped Pidgey remove the medicinal patches, he finally noticed a clear change.
Pidgey's claws, once pale, now had a darker sheen. The tips had regrown sharper than before. The same was true for his beak.
"Pidgey, look! It's working! Your claws and beak are sharper now. Keep it up!" Icarus held up a mirror under the light to show him.
Under the bright lamp, Pidgey's beak gleamed coldly, giving off a razor-sharp impression. His claws looked just as formidable.
"Pidgey! Pidgey!" Seeing the visible improvement, he instantly felt all the hardship had been worth it.
Without even being urged, Pidgey flew back to the tree and began another round of claw strikes and pecking.
"Sprout! Sprout!"
At that moment, Bellsprout tugged at Icarus's pant leg, excitedly signaling that he had finally mastered a new move and wanted to show it off.
"Oh? What did you learn?" Icarus asked, slightly surprised.
"Sprout!"
Bellsprout led Icarus to another patch of grass.
With a rustling sound, he raised his arms and r
eleased a cloud of light-yellow powder.
"Oh! That's Stun Spore!" Icarus exclaimed.
