Chapter 10 - Among The Body of Water

"*Cough**Cough* Some went inside my mouth…"

I fell on my knee as I was showered with Silver Hunter's liquid remains. My clothes are wet and sticky all over, but at least they couldn't have been any worse.

Most of the creatures that reside in this land have acidic remains in their body. I fell victim to many of their deadly acid in the past. Even the slightest touch could burn me from the skin into my internal organs slowly until I died.

So, Silver Hunter not having acid inside their body is quite convenient in my book. As I was about to get up, I looked at the Silver Hunter's remains and numerous eyes that fell from his body. I picked one of their eyeball and examined it.

(I wonder what this eye looks like from their perspective. Was I an easy prey they could hunt for fun? Or was it perhaps I'm a threat in their eyes?)

I dropped the eyeball and glanced over the whip blade, and picked it up. It's longer than twice my height. I tried to swing it…

"Yep, I don't know how these worked."

Perhaps It's soft but sharp structure wasn't made for someone like me. It wiggles every time I swing, not to mention the heaviness. So all I gotta do is to improvise it so it's suitable for me to use.

"Done."

I detached the whip blade and took a short part of it, and somehow attached the wooden chair leg and the whip blade together. Wooden chair legs are durable and useful in most scenarios, but they lack its deadly attack to inflict on the enemy. However, the whip blade is useful for slaying many of my enemies, but as I mentioned before, I can't use it properly.

Therefore, I combined it into one weapon that only I can use. I called it a Chair leg sword. Chair leg combined with this razor-sharp soft blade bridge its hardness properties, it become one normal sword.

I make the sword light, deadly, and useful. With this, I can kill almost anything I've seen before, except for that hag.

It's dusk right now, and I've got everything I've wanted except for one thing. That "thing" is not far from here, but I lightly jogged as I was worrying about the lack of time.

Here I arrived at the pier. Near the body of water, there's only one old abandoned boat chained to the pier. Which is my reason why I come here. I mind my steps as I silently get on the boat.

Inside the size of medium, bigger than a car or truck, I silently walked into the boat and towards the bow pulpit. And there is the last thing I need, a harpoon launcher, attached on the very front part of the boat.

I've learned many times that everything reside in this land is sensitive to "presence". That includes everything inside the water. I've learned how to detach the harpoon launcher from the pulpit silently.

At the same time, I gaze over the end of the body of the water, which is the other side of the big river. There, I've seen it many times. A tower, and the flower on top of it. The very first time I've seen it, my instinct told me not to go near that place, ever.

Even so, the crimson and lavender colors together made it into a one harmony color. There's only one word that can be described as I gaze over the flower, "Beautiful".

I've got my harpoon launcher in my arsenal. I turned around and silently walked out of the boat.

(... It's here.)

Unfortunately, this situation wasn't going in my favor; it appears that they already sense my presence as I sense them. My plan is to take the harpoon launcher quietly. But it appears I have to change to plan B soon. Run over towards the dry land as fast as I can.

I made a full sprint inside the boat and jumped over the pier. As I glanced to my back, the boat was pierced with numerous amount of tentacle as it drag it down into the water. I grit my teeth and made a full sprint on the pier.

I'm not a psychic myself, but I've known every pattern and move they made.

Dodge to the side, tilted my head, I've somehow dodged every tentacle coming from the body of water. As I'm almost reaching the land, I can feel it from my sixth sense, a rain of tentacle was about to be showered upon me. Thus, I jumped forward, hoping to dodge the tentacle and reach the land more than anything else

I roll on my back as I somehow made it to the land without a scratch on my body. And saw the whole pier disappear into a chunk of wood before they hit the body of water. Not only that, the old, wooden pier just before was replaced with countless gray tentacles surrounding it, and there it was. Its main body.

One eye, and a circular-shaped mouth with many torn-like teeth. I've called him Grey Octopus. It screamed as it declared me to be his tonight's dinner.

From where I stand, it's more than enough for their tentacle to reach me in an instant. Any more running would consume me a luck which I've just used to run to the land earlier. But other than that, there's one more move I can do here.

Aiming at the Grey Octopus's eye with my harpoon launcher, I calmed myself so as not to miss my target. Otherwise, missing the target would cost me a day that I had spent all that time to gather all my stuff again.

One could say it's a wild west duel, but I doubt it was. My opponent is a monster after all.

Thus, I shoot the harpoon, and the Grey Octopus casts its raining tentacle upon me once again.

*WOOSH!*

The silent but deadly harpoon with a chain attached to my harpoon launcher managed to take its eyes out. Meanwhile, the recoil from the harpoon launcher sent me backwards, so I managed to dodge his tentacle thanks to the recoil.

The Grey Octopus let out its loud cries as it just lost its one and only eyeball. But me, who just got up from the recoil, saw the chain still attached from the steel harpoon, somehow didn't break from the tentacle. Thus, I used this opportunity to pull the chained harpoon out of its eye.

An acidic liquid poured and showered out from the hole of its eye, which I definitely wasn't gonna get myself go near it. It screamed as it whipped its tentacle around before finally falling into the body of water, never to be seen again.

The sun is about to set, and the night is coming. But I managed to gather all the stuff I needed and arrived here in time. I looked at the large building in front of me.

A construction site, is what they call. An unfinished man-made building that's made as the perfect arena for me to defeat "That thing."

"Right, let's do this."

I inhale and exhale as I step inside.

A stair after stair, I've been met with a few creatures being an obstacle in my way. Thankfully, it's only the Mazard and one Sunworm. And thanks to Sunworm's drool that I can replenish my thirst so my mind can think clearly again.

Step by step, I've finally reached the 40th floor of this unfinished building. Not to mention the sun is already gone, thus replaced with darkness and stars. I walked over to the edge and inhaled.

"THIS IS IT YOU FUCKING BASTARD!!! IF YOU WANT, COME AND GET ME!!! I'LL MAKE SURE YOU EAT SHIT AFTER YOU MADE ME GO THROUGH THESE ENDLESS CYCLE YOU HEAR ME?!! I DON'T FUCKING CARE WHAT YOU'VE MADE OFF, WHETHER YOU WERE STRONG OR NOT, GOD OR NOT, I WILL KILL YOU TONIGHT!!!"

I shouted those from my lungs as loud as I could, regardless of whether any creature would chime in or not, which they wouldn't. Because the Apex Predator is coming, and they will hunt anything that lives. Now come, give me everything you've got, you bastard!

I'm bored, but at the same time, I kept my guard up. It's weird, none of this has happened before.

Usually, they show up before me in less than an hour, but this time, it took me longer. How long has passed? 2 hours? 3 hours? Maybe even longer than that.

(Urgh…)

A sudden headache has hit my head; it appears that I've put too much strain on my body today, physically and mentally. Not to include my sleepiness and tiredness. I could've collapsed here before I put up the fight. And if I collapsed here, it'll kill me in my sleep, which makes everything I do meaningless, again.

(Stay awake, Ten! You had one more job to do before you could sleep. Yeah, come to think of it, when was the last time I managed to get some sleep? It's starting from the fire hydrant, and to that beaver, then greenhopper, then the library… Again and again and again. I've searched every corner and tried every possibility to get a weapon that could damage them. But the least thing that worked on him is the sword and the harpoon…)

No, I couldn't fight drowsiness anymore as I fell into a slumber. Maybe, next time is the one, where I can get out of this loop hell…
