Chapter 16 - The "Wall"

Cycle 3…

I explored the outdoors near one of the "wall", the sight of the body with its many sharp, piercing legs could make one assume it's impossible to get through them.

Because it is impossible…

The body is long and wide, blocking every road and backstreet with its presence. Why am I here, you say? Because one assumption doesn't make it real.

Ragged Centipede, that's what I called it. In brown color Its body is too long, with every layer of its body kept piling up on each other, making it almost like an unwashed cloth and rags piled up.

The Ragged Centipede is a natural pacifist; it couldn't care less about tiny beings such as me.

I walked towards it, knowing the fear of its fangs might be raised to me. I knock its thick skin with the chair leg. It seems it didn't even feel me here. Although I have seen its head at least once, it looks like it didn't move much. Perhaps a problem with his heavy body…

And again, assumption doesn't make it real.

Using the rusty knife, I attempted to get one of its legs. By digging through its roots, The Ragged Centipede might at least flinch a little, but it showed no response.

I come to wonder, if he doesn't even feel the pain.

But it doesn't matter, I have gotten its leg, which is the reason I come here. I'm thinking of making a spear out of this, so I don't have to come close against an enemy with the poison attribute.

Like the certain rats I died to…

*Squeake*

The squeaking sound gained my attention as I had my guard up. There appears to be another creature beside me and the centipede. It has the appearance of a bat, almost twice the size of mine, standing in front of the road, glaring towards me.

I had my shield up, in case he charged forward the moment I at least expected. And the first thing the bat does is to open its mouth…

*RAAAAAAAAAA!!!*

A piercing scream that immediately ruptured my ears. An attack that I even least expected it. My mind ruptured as my ears flowed out a river of blood.

And suddenly, I can feel a small quake behind me…

"What the-" The centipede appears to respond to the bat's piercing scream.

And the moment I divert my eyes from the bat…

"Gack!"

It charged at me, pushing me towards the centipede's moving body, towards its leg made of a blade.

Knowing what would happen if I let myself be pushed further, I let go of my weapon as I saved myself by putting my hand on the centipede.

Even so, it does not save me from certain death…

Coming into contact with the moving centipede's thick and rough skin, it ground the surface of my hand as the blade of its leg chopped a part of my body.

And soon I turned into the meat paste, in a bloodied and horrific way.

Cycle 4…

I decided to continue searching, searching for any source of food and water. Sadly, nothing come close as most of the creature were filled with poison. A poison that was potent enough to knock me into the death circle.

In front of me, I find the building with the letter "Hotel" written on it. I entered the building with the curiosity of finding anything useful.

The first room I stumbled into, I ended up finding the creature. On top of the bed, it has a wriggling and limp form. One could call it slime, but the difference is that this slime has a few eyes, a nose, ears, and a mouth attached to it.

"A-Ah so good… We're being filled, with the pleasure and bliss. You… Won't you also come and have a pleasure with us too?"

A tentacle formed out of the limp flesh of the creature. Then the tentacle came at great speed, with the full intent to turn me into the skewer. I evaded the incoming attack as I aimed the harpoon launcher towards the creature.

*SPLAT!*

The creature doesn't fall despite being turned into the skewer. The fight lasted quite a while with me come out unscathed. The said creature took three of my steel harpoons with its acidic remains. Leaving me with only 2 more.

"Damn it…"

I sighed in frustration, then proceeded to search for stuff.

Fortunately, I found the emergency kit in the bathroom. Its contain with gauze, alcohol, and some pills.

I read in the book that gauze and alcohol can be used to treat simple wounds. They could be useful in common occurrences. I don't know about the pills, though, but I just decided to take everything with me.

There are many rooms that might have useful stuff here, but it's also filled with those limp, slimy creatures, and I decided to avoid any room filled with those.

What are those anyway? They kept mentioning pleasure and bliss along with endless moans.

(Pleasure… Are the feelings of enjoyment and satisfaction, right? I remember those feelings, when I was sleeping, the more pleasure I have the more I desired it. So I'd like to sleep more, but I can't. Not under these circumstances, I'm in.)

"Slave… of Pleasure."

That might be a good name for those creatures. If they are truly filled with bliss endlessly, I'm envy with them.

"Envy…"

From the dark corridor, I heard a voice. The dark, and deep voice. The figure is barely recognizable from the dark, but I can tell he's taller than the ceiling.

(An enemy…)

Their killing intent is strong. I immediately raised the harpoon launcher as I took a shot.

The harpoon went into the dark, but I couldn't hear it hit anything, as if they had disappeared into the void.

(It'll be a good time to retreat…)

I reloaded the last harpoon as I took a step back. Just for something sharp to pierce my heart from behind.

"Urk!"

It resembles a claw piercing me whole as it lifts my lightweight in the air.

"Those scoundrels being… How dare they be to pleasure themself… I hate it.I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it… I HATE IT!!!"

"I hate it when they were filled with happiness while I had to watch them in envy… I hate it!"

The dark figure wearing a mask, a mask filled with a hateful expression. I looked to my side, its hand was somehow blend in the wall to form a shadow, I guess that's how he got me from behind.

"I hate it! I hate it! I hate it! Hey! Won't you share your pain with me as I share yours? Then surely, we'll also be filled with happiness together-"

"No thanks."

Despite being stabbed from behind, I still had the strength to grip and raise the harpoon launcher.

The being had happened to die after I shot his mask, and disappeared into nothingness.

Meanwhile me, who couldn't raise anything, anymore. Lying cold inside the dark hotel corridor, waiting to bleed until death.

A thought came to my mind…

A being who's filled with hatred of envy as they watch the other's happiness.

Envy Watcher, is what I will refer to them as…
