'Scales.....is this even normal.'
Yup , Riley's hands were at that moment a pale white with green and gold scales along his forearm and elbows , along with that he had noticeably grown larger by atleast a good couple of inches as his clothes were straining and nearly ripping.
When he turned back to his mom in consfusion , Riley was met by another surprising scene. A glowing blue Mist surrounded his mom and as it slowly begun to clear , it revealed a 6,6 still beautiful blue skinned Edith.
Her skin had tribal looking markings that glowed and generally, she still retained alot of her humanoid features just with an increase in size and muscle mass with deep blue rough skin , markings over the skin then there were the horns.
On Edith's head were two curved horns jutting from her forehead making her look like some sort of Demon. The horns seemed like a fusion of bone and Ice which made then more intimidating.
The areas of her rough icy skin on her neck , around her eyes and on her arms pulsed subtly with a green magic which just made her whole form even cooler.
Right now , Riley's mom looked like some tall and toned ice queen with glowing blue eyes and green magic sparking all around her.
"As part of your birthday gift , I'm going to tell you exactly why we are different."
For the next hour or so , Edith narrated to Riley his entire ancestry on both her side and his Father's side. It tuned out that part of the reason his mother was exceptionally powerful was that besides being a daughter of Loki , her other parent also passed down Ancient Ice Giant blood and was descended from a particularly old and strong giant.
As for Riley , it appeared he had very high potential for growth considering he had both his mother's heightened Divine and Ice giant heritage as well as his father's Divine heritage too.
Him having scales however was an unexpected occurrence and left Edith slightly confused since she expected Riley to also have at the very least a slight resemblance to Ice giants.
Instead Riley's blonde hair had grown slightly longer and his pupils became golden slits that slightly glowed with power. Along with that , his skin became paler and scales grew along his forearms , torso and Shin like Armour.
Unlike the blue regal dominating might of Edith's form and aura in her true form , Riley's current form was more like a quiet , warm , bright and dormant but still dense power and aura.
"I'm not quite sure if this is an effect of my father's bloodline or your father's bloodline since both have abit of a connection to snakes , though one more than the other."
After studying Riley's scales for a while , his mother gave up and chalked it up to him having a stronger connection to the Serpentine traits of Loki's Divine existence.
This theory was reinforced by his gender fluidity which was usually experienced by those who had a stronger bloodline purity of Loki's blood in their veins.
Soon though , Edith reverted back to normal then forced his body into a human form inorder to give Riley his official birthday gift and the few others he had recieved.
'I'm guessing they are from Dad since I can feel the power radiating from them.....well almost all of them atleast.'
After getting that Divine upgrade and having his Demigod powers unlocked , Riley had natural experienced some of the boosts himself.
Besides an increase in strength and heightened senses , Riley could now control his Divine energy much more easily plus it had also increased in amount.
In the past three years , Riley's Divine energy had already grown from the previous small fist sized estimate to something far better.
If one were to estimate a litre's worth of Divine power as 1 point of Divine power then before eating the Ambrosia cake , Riley had what could be estempted at about 20 points of Divine energy. But that had just multiplied and now he was at about 180 points.
With that power also came greater control and attunement to it and the abilities that it came with.
Currently , Riley could move his Divine energy with greater freedom than before and even slowly started compressing it and circulating it around his body so that he could begin mastering control ver it as soon as possible.
Due to all this , Riley could naturally sense that a similar energy was radiating off the some of the wrapped gift boxes and curiously wondered what could be inside.
"Here why don't you start with this one bud."
Riley didn't hesitate and took the package from his mom tearing it open only to find a pair of Daggers in pure white sheaths.
"I take it you like your dad's first gift then." Without looking away from the Daggers, Riley just nodded then picked them up and felt their weight settle into his hands.
'Beautiful....thanks Dad.'
The second gift was a small black necklace with a magical pendant on it that protected him and concealed his Demigod aura from weaker monsters.
After those two most of the incoming gifts were less interesting or simple expected until finally he got to the two boxes his mom got him.
"Can't you just tell me?"
It was the third time Riley was asking his mom because he didn't want to open the ominous looking boxes his mom had put her gifts in.
As expected she just shook her head no with that casual unbothered and playful smile on her face.
The smile and look of amusement on her face completely disarmed Riley and he started opening the first one going against his better judgement.
'I just can't resist that smile. This is bad , what if I become a mama's boy or something.'
Riley's mind was so far lost in his own thoughts that he didn't realize he had already opened the box and the gift was sitted infront of him waiting for him to pick it up.
'What the heck.'
