Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 — Prank Variety Show

Tanaka Masao sat on the sofa, his thoughts running wild.

Before long, Sawamura Sayuri came out after finishing tidying up the guest room.

Seeing Tanaka Masao spacing out on the sofa, she suddenly realized her mistake.

She really shouldn't have left Tanaka Masao alone here.

Being alone in someone else's house would definitely make anyone feel awkward and uneasy.

Thinking about Eriri's current state, it was clearly unrealistic to have her come downstairs and hang out with Tanaka Masao.

If that was the case, then there was only one option left—

She'd have to step in herself.

Having made up her mind, Sawamura Sayuri walked over with a smile.

"Sorry, Tanaka-kun. I kept you waiting—must've been boring, right?"

Tanaka Masao snapped back to his senses and shook his head, not really minding it.

"Not at all."

Sawamura Sayuri sat down nearby.

"As for dinner, I've already asked the chef to prepare it. We just need to wait a bit longer."

Sawamura Sayuri wasn't a full-time housewife. She usually drew BL doujinshi herself.

On top of that, with such a large villa, having a housekeeper and a chef was only natural.

Resting her chin on her hand, Sawamura Sayuri thought for a moment.

"Let me think… what should we do to kill some time?"

"How about watching some TV?" Tanaka Masao suggested. He just wanted to relax and didn't feel like moving.

Author's note: Move? What kind of "move"? If you don't explain it clearly, how am I supposed to understand? ಥ◡ಥ

"TV, huh? Sure."

Sawamura Sayuri had no objections. She picked up the remote, turned on the TV, and asked,

"Tanaka-kun, is there anything you like to watch?"

"Nothing in particular."

After thinking for a bit, Tanaka Masao replied,

"Maybe some reality shows or variety programs."

He'd only been in this world for a week. Before that, he spent every day training, and after getting home he'd just scroll through his phone, checking how this world differed from his previous life.

So he really wasn't familiar with what kinds of TV programs were on here, and could only let Sawamura Sayuri pick something at random.

"Variety shows? I like those too."

Sawamura Sayuri flipped through the channels for a bit, then stopped on one program.

"Let's go with this one—prank variety."

"Ah~"

Instant opening thunder.

Right from the start, the TV blasted out the flustering, heart-pounding screams of a young girl.

Tanaka Masao's gaze was immediately drawn over.

He knew this sound all too well—this was a uniquely Japanese kind of program.

A prank variety show.

(Go on, admit it—you let your mind wander, didn't you? ಥ◡ಥ)

On screen, a very beautiful, well-endowed female talent was kneeling on a fat-shaking machine.

The machine vibrated nonstop, and since she was wearing extremely short shorts—

Her fair, smooth thighs trembled constantly, making for a dazzling sight.

And on top of that, she had to hold a conversation with someone under these conditions. The trembling in her voice made people's imaginations run wild.

"Ahem—"

Sawamura Sayuri coughed lightly, hiding her embarrassment.

"This show's prank segments are pretty interesting… they're just a bit… bold."

Tanaka Masao nodded.

"Well, if it's a prank show, being bold is kind of the point. Let's keep watching."

To be honest, Tanaka Masao quite liked this program.

And no, it wasn't because of the bare thighs—he was purely curious about what the production team was trying to pull.

Turns out, it was a challenge segment.

The female talents had to sit on the fat-shaking machine and make a phone call to a man using a trembling voice.

What exactly was the production team's intention?

Tanaka Masao honestly had no idea.

Soon, the challenge began.

The first female talent sat on the machine, brushing her long black hair aside flirtatiously.

With a shaky voice and a hint of shyness, she asked,

"It feels kinda… lewd. Do we really have to play it like this?"

Seeing her embarrassed expression, the host replied—

Of course. That's what made it fun.

The two other female talents who came with her burst out laughing when they saw her reaction.

Her response was simply, "You'll be just like me soon enough."

"Eeh~ that's so annoying~"

Amid the coquettish protests of the three girls, the challenge officially began.

She dialed her manager's number, and the conversation that followed was something everyone was familiar with.

"Moshi moshi."

"Y-Yeah, it's me."

"Huh? What's that sound? What's going on over there—daijōbu (are you okay)?"

"Daijōbu (I'm fine), I—"

Maybe realizing her voice sounded off, the girl covered her mouth.

But once she did, the sounds coming out became even more dangerous.

That single action sent the entire studio into nonstop laughter.

Tanaka Masao found it hilarious too—but glancing at Sawamura Sayuri beside him, he didn't dare laugh out loud.

After all, only people with the proper "knowledge base" knew exactly where the punchline was.

And Sawamura Sayuri, a seasoned veteran with plenty of life experience, naturally understood the show's intent.

Not to mention, she noticed how hard Tanaka Masao was holding it in—and couldn't resist teasing him a little.

So she put on an innocent expression and asked,

"Hey, Tanaka-kun, why are they laughing? Is there something strange about the way she's talking?"

Tanaka Masao froze when asked. Seeing the curious look she shot him, he suddenly felt awkward.

"Th-This… um… well…"

Then it hit him.

Wait a second—Sawamura Sayuri was a doujin artist, and she'd even read his work. Her knowledge base was massive. There was no way she didn't get it.

"Sayuri-san, please stop teasing me. How about we change the channel?"

"Haha."

Having been found out, Sawamura Sayuri showed no embarrassment at all—she just laughed.

"Tanaka-kun, there's no need to be shy. If you want to laugh, just laugh. Relax—we'll keep watching."

She was doing this partly to ease Tanaka Masao's nervousness and awkwardness.

And after that little exchange, he really did feel less tense.

Once he relaxed, Tanaka Masao finally couldn't hold it in anymore—a smile crept onto his face.

Though that smile looked extremely sleazy.

Watching the show, Sawamura Sayuri also wore a cheerful grin.

"This game is really fun. If they were calling their boyfriend or husband instead, it'd be even more interesting."

Hearing that, Tanaka Masao nodded.

"And if there were live footage of the person on the receiving end—so we could see their real-time reactions—that'd be even better."

"Tanaka-kun, you're pretty devious. Don't tell me this is material for a new doujin plot?"

...

The two of them chatted casually as the variety show switched segments several times.

All kinds of different pranks played out, with the celebrities getting absolutely destroyed.

Tanaka Masao and Sawamura Sayuri felt a bit sorry for them—but since it was just too funny, they couldn't help bursting into laughter anyway.
