Chapter 81 - Chapter 78: A New Use for Star Gazing Technique

Having finished her work, Furan returned to her house with a bundle of manuscripts. Although she had earned a lot of money today, she only had a faint smile on her face.

"Next time, I'll have to write a rule that each person can only commission two rings at a time. Otherwise, if another one like that comes along, when will I ever finish collecting Spells from the other Schools?"

Furan set the restrictions for future commissions after a brief thought. Then, after sitting in her chair for a moment, she took the manuscripts out of her bag.

These were the books she needed to compile. Furthermore, since she also had to help set up courses for the Furnace Casting School, she intended to write this book directly as a textbook.

Originally, she had only planned to include blueprints for the steam engine and then systematically explain the principles and specific applications of each component.

As it turned out, she finished the first draft in just two days. When she brought the manuscript to Elan, however, he was left completely bewildered after reading it.

"What are these things you call circular motions? And what is this formula? Is it a component?"

After questioning him carefully, Furan finally figured it out. Education in the magical world seemed to focus only on teaching magical knowledge; other types of knowledge were simply not taught.

Therefore, Elan couldn't understand at all how a flywheel could be turned through the push of a cylinder, much less why the flywheel could continuously accelerate within this structure.

Furan understood why now: it was because the magical world didn't teach the subject of 'Physics' at all. If you asked them to describe the most basic movements, they would just stammer.

If you asked them whether a one-kilogram iron ball or a five-kilogram iron ball falls faster, most of them would answer that the latter is faster.

So, Furan decided she couldn't just explain the principles of the steam engine; she had to include mathematical and physical knowledge as well. Only then would anyone be able to understand this textbook.

She placed the manuscript on the table and began to recall the Physics knowledge she had learned before, writing down whatever came to mind first.

"Newton's Three Laws, inertia, acceleration and external force... what else was there?"

She frowned, twirling her hair with her hand as she began to delve into the memories of her past life. Since coming to this different world, she had been entirely focused on practicing Spells and swordsmanship, causing her to forget some of the specific details.

After thinking for a while, she finally managed to recall it thanks to her powerful Spiritual Power.

"It's the interaction of objects... I'll deal with it tomorrow. I'm really not in the mood to think about this anymore."

Furan packed up the manuscripts, placed them neatly into her bag, and then began to wonder what to do now.

"Blood of the Furnace doesn't have enough Spiritual Power left, I can't cast it... Fireball Spell still needs to wait for the magic ring's cooldown, and the new batch of daggers for Rune Craft practice hasn't arrived yet."

"Oh right, I can use the Star Gazing Technique. How could I forget that?"

She packed her things and went to the place where she had observed the stars last time.

Looking at the stars this time, she suddenly remembered something. When she was chatting with Lai Yi, she had also asked how those from the Astrology School performed prophecies.

And Lai Yi had answered like this:

"Just think about what you want to know while looking at the stars. If you're lucky, you'll know."

According to Lai Yi, this was the only training method for prophecy. Most members of the Astrology School couldn't learn it, which resulted in them only being able to rely on Calculation Techniques to do navigation work in the wilderness or at sea.

Furan intended to try it now. She thought about it and realized she really wanted to know about the Physics knowledge she had once seen, didn't she?

So, looking at the stars, she began to imagine the high School Physics textbook she had seen.

Then, something shocking happened. The Physics textbook she had seen appeared in her mind. It could be flipped through as she imagined, and the content within felt incredibly familiar.

"Great, I don't have to struggle to remember anymore. I can finish writing this book in a couple of days by copying the content."

Furan happily let the textbook dissipate from her mind before starting on her main objective.

She gazed at the starry sky, beginning to match the star charts in her memory with those above. Once the stars moved to their designated positions, her consciousness sank.

This time, she heard a sound first. The sound of whistling wind caught her attention. She opened her eyes and was greeted first by a massive valley.

Sparse trees grew on the stone walls on both sides of the valley, surrounded by layers of protruding rocks. The scene looked extremely magnificent.

But where am I? Where is my person?

Furan observed carefully and only then saw a few figures down in the canyon.

Furan wanted to zoom in on the scene. As her Spiritual Power moved accordingly, she realized she could move her perspective within this scene.

She hurriedly flew down, wanting to see exactly what the situation was.

She saw the situation from the side: seven or eight people were on one side, while she stood alone on the other, seemingly in a standoff.

She first noticed the robe she was wearing, which was printed with a design of a casting hammer. Judging by this attire, she was already a Formal Mage at this time.

Her opponents, meanwhile, wore equipment like leather armor and plate armor; they didn't seem to have any Spellcaster classes.

One person among the opposition caught her attention. He was tall, situated in the middle of the group, standing at the very front and staring at Furan.

He wore a suit of black armor that covered his entire body, leaving no skin exposed.

There were many sharp spikes protruding from his shoulders, and an armband with a wolf's head emblem.

The reason he caught Furan's attention was mainly that his aura surpassed everyone else present. According to Furan's judgment, this was a Second-Rank professional.

Could she beat him? Furan was somewhat doubtful. Could she defeat someone of a higher rank than herself?

At that moment, the Furan in the vision moved first. She raised both hands as if to release a Spell, and the opponent didn't react in time.

The earth began to shake, and sharp spikes erupted from the ground. The opponents were forced to scatter. The previously flat terrain became incredibly rugged, making it difficult for them to find footing. Several people fell to the ground, struggling to get back up.

This made Furan a bit curious. Wasn't this the Elemental School's 'Earth Rise'? How did she know it? This was a First-Rank Spell; those Formal Mages shouldn't be coming to her to make magic rings for it.

She had self-awareness; for First-Rank Spells, people would go to Artisans with special channels. Why would they come to a self-taught amateur like her?

A person wearing pure white armor raised a greatsword and seemed to strike at her impatiently. Judging by his speed and the power he displayed, he was a First-Rank professional.

In the next moment, however, Furan herself held her longsword in front of her head, incredibly blocking this powerful slash. Cracks appeared beneath her feet, and gravel flew everywhere.

Furan saw it very clearly. Wasn't this the Sword Dance of the Sword Chant School? It seemed to be a defensive stance that only Formal Mages possessed. How had she learned it?

Then, the Furan in the scene, after blocking the blow, flicked her blade, which left an afterimage in the air as it struck the white-armored man's helmet.

A muffled 'thud' rang out. The helmet caved in like it was made of clay where the blade struck, and the person inside seemed to be as dead as could be.

Seeing their companion killed, the enemies seemed somewhat anxious and wanted to rush forward, but were stopped by the outstretched hand of the man in black armor.

Afterward, Furan lost consciousness. This was the last scene she saw.
