The morning sun filtered through the high glass windows of the city, painting golden streaks across the pavement as Hiten and Aarya stepped out, each carrying a small bag of essentials for a long day ahead. The streets were bustling already, the hum of early shoppers mixing with the faint honking of cars. Aarya tugged nervously at her bag strap, her hair falling slightly across her eyes, while Hiten scanned the streets with a calm air, a smirk tugging at his lips.
"So… first stop—clothes shopping?" Hiten asked, his voice teasing as he glanced at her.
Aarya shot him a playful glare. "Of course! But if you get lost, I'll leave you with the mannequins, and don't think I won't!"
He laughed, linking his arm with hers. "Mannequins? Easy. But keeping up with you? That'll require a map, GPS, and maybe a compass."
She nudged him, smirking. "Then hope you brought all three, mister."
They entered the mall, the air instantly changing—filled with the scent of baked pastries, freshly brewed coffee, faint perfumes, and the distant hum of soft pop music. Aarya's eyes widened, scanning the vibrant shops around them. She bounced lightly on her heels. "Hiten, look at all this! I'm going to get everything!"
Hiten chuckled. "Everything? Careful, you'll need a separate trolley just for your eyes."
Their first stop was the clothing section, where rows of colorful kurtas and lehengas awaited them. Aarya held up a deep orange kurta with intricate gold embroidery. "Hiten, try this. You'd look… actually, you'd look amazing in this!"
He raised a skeptical eyebrow, smirking. "Me? Orange? Are you trying to blind people with your fashion sense?"
She rolled her eyes, laughing. "Trust me. If it doesn't suit you, I'll still buy it and make you wear it. It's for fashion rehabilitation."
After a few light-hearted debates, Hiten tried it on. He peeked at himself in the mirror, adjusting the collar. "Well… okay. Not as tragic as I imagined. You might be onto something."
Aarya giggled, circling behind him to inspect the fit. "Surprisingly, not terrible. But don't get cocky—you're still mine to critique."
Next, they wandered to casual wear. Hiten tried on a hoodie three sizes too big, sleeves dangling past his hands. Aarya laughed so hard she doubled over. "You look like a kid trying to escape from his own sweater!"
He struck a mock serious pose. "And you… are enjoying every moment of it, aren't you?"
She nudged him playfully. "Guilty as charged."
The shopping bags grew heavier as they moved through the mall. Every now and then, Hiten insisted on buying her small treats—pastries, chocolates, and a croissant she teasingly called a "bribe." "Why are you spoiling me?" she asked, narrowing her eyes playfully.
"Because I can," he said, winking.
They paused at a small cafe inside the mall, sharing bites of their treats and laughing at each other's exaggerated reactions to the taste. Hiten pretended to faint from a sugar rush, while Aarya dramatically fed him a bite of chocolate croissant. The light teasing continued, their laughter blending seamlessly with the soft background music and the murmurs of other shoppers.
Finally, with their bags partially filled with festive and casual wear, they decided to take a small break. Aarya sipped her coffee, watching Hiten sneak a bite of a pastry. "You know," she said softly, "these little moments… I could get used to this."
Hiten looked at her, eyes glinting with mischief. "Get used to it? I was hoping you already have."
Aarya rolled her eyes, but the smile on her face said everything.
With the first part of their shopping complete and their stomachs warmed by the small treats, they glanced at each other, knowing the day was far from over. Ahead lay trampolines, arcade games, and more laughter—they weren't done yet, and neither of them wanted the day to end.
