The Lost Vampire System Chapter 39 - Damion's Warning
The three quickly made their way into the dining hall, and after a minute of searching, they found the trio had chosen a corner booth in the very back. They were already eating when Mia noticed them.
"There they are," she said, notifying the other two.
They looked up at the three of them.
"I guess you really couldn't hold it to tell us," Damion smiled at them.
"I actually couldn't," Madison spoke up before the other two said something stupid.
The three of them sat down, and Jareth removed the sword and scabbard from his back, placing it on the table as it was too long. He took off his backpack, placing it in his lap.
"Aren't you hungry," Mia asked as she looked at her brother.
"I don't feel hungry after my training," Jareth quickly replied. "Like I don't feel hungry after gym class. I'll eat after the last class."
She nodded, as this actually was normal back when they were in regular school.
"Ok," Damion began. "Now that it has been two days and I hate to say this, but the weakest of our group is here, I do need to explain something."
The group listened as Damion started to explain.
"This is based on what my older sibling has told me. Usually, nothing major happens except for that first day, but now people have gotten a hang of where they are on the food chain, the bullying will begin."
"Bullying?" Mia asked.
"Yes," the Nephilim answered. "Someone will pick a fight sooner or later, and unless it's serious, no staff will step in until after the fight is over if one or more students need medical treatment from anything to a broken nose to a broken limb."
"That is what Major Robert warned us about," Jareth noted as he looked at the group.
"Once word spreads around, that is when the strong will start to bully the weak to feel even more power. Others will try to form a small type of organization to force students to give them the $10 a day allowance," Damion gave a sigh. "I'll try to protect as much of our group as I can, but right now I have three level 1 powers. Right now, the strongest is Hannah and maybe Madison. Hannah made an impression, but she doesn't really hang out with us as much compared to this group here."
"We'll just have to deal with it when it comes to us," Jareth said. "Right now, we have to focus on getting stronger for the expedition."
"No offense, Jareth," Damion began. "Besides the… I think Simple Tier weapon that you acquired."
"We shouldn't be going on a high Tier planet, right Damion?" Madison stepped in. "As long as that is the case, Jareth will be fine."
"They might go higher this year," Damion countered. "They seemed worried about an invasion. Right now, I'm betting between either a civil war or the Lyrackens will attack."
"Civil war?" Keira asked. "Why would there be a civil war?"
"There are too many powers of the human race," Damion answered the red-haired girl. "The top want more, and there isn't more to take. I think one will make a move that will shatter the power balance. There are small alarms going off in NYXIS, as some believe that one of the other powers is hiding someone that can heal their body without an Evolved power."
"In NYXIS?" Madison asked. "I'm almost always in there, and I haven't heard anything about it."
"Surprising," Damion said. "My guess is that you haven't seen the video of what LightTrapper sent out about her opponent by the name of CrimsonDawn?"
Jareth stiffened as he heard his gamer tag being mentioned.
"CrimsonDawn?" Madison acted like it was no big deal. "Why would him being able to heal his body be an issue?"
"It's not," Damion said. "One of the faction leaders made a fuss about how a healer Evolved needed more time to heal, especially at a power of one. My older sibling had to tell the Rory Lenoe leader of the Lenoe Faction that my family had two users. The other factions haven't commented or didn't even see the video. CrimsonDawn just remains someone that CyberGirl just wants to find."
"Your sibling has a connection with the Lenoe faction?" Madison asked.
"Somewhat," Damion continued. "She just brings messages to him. Lenoe and the Astor factions really annoy our family, so she deals with them so our great-grandmother doesn't get stressed."
"What was your family name again?" Henry asked.
"The Youngbloods," Damion answered. "We aren't famous. Our family just talks a lot to the top. That is the reason a lot of the higher-ups know about us, but the rest won't. Supposedly, our family has a super sight Evolved that can see deep into space to keep an eye on the Lyrackens. I don't really believe that is the case, but whatever. After I graduate from the academy, that is when my family shares with me the importance of what we do, whatever that may be."
The group sighed as they digested the information, and light chewing sounds were heard as Damion decided to finally dig into his sandwich. Madison and Keira went to get food while Jareth stayed.
"Where do we go for our last class?" Jareth asked.
"We… go… t… hold on," Damion tried to say through his chewing but decided to swallow first. "We go to our homeroom class, and our homeroom teacher will be the one to teach."
"Back to teacher Carl," Henry complained. "He's so mean. It's like he thinks we are going to die."
"He thinks you're going to die?" Keira asked.
"Apparently," the Nephilim said before he bit down on his sandwich. "My guess is he is weak and is just taking his anger out on us."
Keira's eyes furrowed. "That's cynical."
"Indeed," agreed Damion. "That is what the system allows, unfortunately."
Madison and Keira returned with their plates of food and began to eat, now only leaving Jareth with no food, but he didn't mind. Lunchtime passed, and it was now 12:50 as the group just sat and had casual talk. They left the dining hall of the sixth dormitory building for the first years and started to make their way over to their homeroom class under a cloudy sky.
