he'd trick a few Pidgeotto into summoning their overprotective leader.
Sure enough, the trick worked.
The sharp-eyed Pidgeot could not bear to see its clan bullied and flew over at once…
only to find the Pidgeotto sitting obediently at the human's feet, pecking at Energy Cubes.
What the hell?
It had rushed over after hearing distress calls!
Why was this the scene it found?
That was Lin Yu's plan:
stick first, carrot later.
Make the Pidgeotto willingly call Pidgeot over.
Sure enough,
once their leader arrived, the Pidgeotto puffed up and flew up to complain about how the human had bullied them.

In an instant, Lin Yu had laid out his strategy.
On the opposite side,
Pidgeot let out a cry.
Bright white light blazed from the two Pidgeotto's wings —
Wing Attack.
Lin Yu's eyes lit up. Perfect.
It seemed Pidgeot wanted to test his strength first.
"Charr!!"
Charmeleon roared. Only battle stirred its blood.
Scattered sparks burst from its mouth, spreading like a net, exploding into hundreds of tiny fireballs in the air.
A blanket of fire.
The Pidgeotto had never seen a move like this and panicked.
Pidgeot's eyes narrowed. It tried to save them,
only to find dozens of flying Frogadier illusions appear before it.
And its body was locked in place.
Frogadier and Kirlia's moves had worked.
But Pidgeot was a Mid-Gym Pokémon — with a single twitch, it broke free of Kirlia's Confusion.
It flapped its wings violently,
blowing away all of Frogadier's Double Team clones.
"Incredible!" Lin Yu exclaimed.
Truly a Gym-class Pokémon.
"Pidgeoo!"
Seeing the spreading flames, Pidgeot flew into a rage. If that fire spread to the forest, it would start a wildfire!
This was its home!
"Relax, Pidgeot! Charmeleon has perfect control over its flames!"
Lin Yu had already thought of that.
Thanks to Braixen's training, Charmeleon could now perfectly control stray flames —
especially this Bone Spirit Cold Fire.
But Pidgeot was far from calmed.
Brilliant, radiant light wrapped around its body as it charged straight at Charmeleon.
Oh no — Brave Bird?!
Using its ultimate move right away?
Lin Yu gained a whole new respect for wild Secret Realm Pokémon.
Charmeleon couldn't dodge that speed.
"Kirlia, Protect! Charmeleon, Fire Punch! Frogadier, use Bubble!"

Lin Yu issued commands in an instant.
A silvery barrier flashed in front of Charmeleon. Pale-white flames — ghostly, cold fire — blazed around its Dragon Claws.
If it couldn't dodge, it would take the hit head-on.

The glowing Pidgeot crashed into Charmeleon, sending it flying backward like a stone.
Frogadier reacted instantly, firing a stream of sticky foam to catch the sliding Charmeleon.
Lin Yu's heart tightened.
He had already attached [Immunity] at random, but seeing this still made him anxious.
"Charr!"
A trickle of red blood dripped from Charmeleon's mouth. Even with the foam cushioning the blow,
it was badly hurt.
But it had successfully planted the Bone Spirit Cold Fire onto Pidgeot.
A steady stream of life force began draining from the bird.

Pidgeot shrieked and soared into the sky. Wild Pokémon lacked formal battle analysis, but they had endless combat experience.
These three Pokémon worked together flawlessly.
If it tried to take down one, the other two would interfere.
So it took to the sky.
Its wings — over four meters wide — beat furiously, forming a Gust over three meters wide and ten meters tall.
"Frogadier, Water Shuriken! Charmeleon, keep using Flamethrower!" Lin Yu adjusted his tactics at once.
"Pidgeoo!"
Flames surged head‑on, while Frogadier darted and flipped between the trees,
waiting for its moment to strike.
What an exhilarating Pokémon battle!
The fight raged on until dusk.
Only then did Lin Yu pull back with his three Pokémon.
He changed clothes and cleaned the scratches from branches on his skin,
his face burning with excitement.
The trip had been more than worth it.
This Pidgeot was an amazing training partner.
With it, Charmeleon, Frogadier, and Kirlia would all grow by leaps and bounds!
