Chapter 2 - Ch.2: Run Away!

Hello, my name is Lucian Aurelius. I am currently ten years old and turning eleven after this month, born in the capital city of Italy, Rome. Right now, I am currently living in-

Wait… That's not important right now!

What is this thing in front of me?

A life simulator system? Really?

Why would anyone want this?

Aside from the rewards you get from each simulation you finish, I can see no merit from this type of system!

All I can get is endless trauma from each cycle of simulation.

What's worst? This system wants to make me a Saviour in Honkai?

Sorry to burst your bubble system, but I don't want to become a Saviour!

...

(Shifting Perspective)

Lucian scoffed internally.

In his mind, only idiots would truly try to become a saviour in this cursed world.

Threats running rampant all across the globe, even those main characters who seemingly should have plot armour cannot withstand the collective force of the world.

It does not shame away itself from nipping away the main cast, just to see if they can withstand the trial blessed upon by it.

Moreover, what if he is in a world bubble?

Isn't he already dead?

So might as well enjoy his remaining life!

Also, according to him, using a Simulator system is a double edge sword.

Each simulation has a staggering high rate of having an immense butterfly effect on the world.

What if with each simulation, the difficulty spike level transcends its threshold?

I might as well be dead!

His deduction almost has no flaw…

But there was something he failed to notice, with each simulation, he will also gain power boost.

Mainly happened because of his prejudice against life simulator systems because he has been reading too much fic with genre like that.

Plus, he doesn't want to have a built in trauma because of overwhelming memories!!

"Of course, I choose-"

[You might want to think otherwise.]

"Heh… Is that so… Go on, tell me why."

[Think about it. Would you ttuly be able to live in this world without my help? As the Honkai rage on, it will be harder to survive in this world without a proper platform to step in, to solidify your position.]

'Coercion tactics?

Though if you think about it. It will definitely be very hard to survive in this world without proper skills.

If not for that, why would I train myself to the bone despite knowing it is near useless training like that?'

"Heh, go on."

[Also, are you really willing to let go of your straw to success, just because something could go wrong? If it is because of that, I assure you! It does not affect reality (mostly)!]

Lucian squinted his eyes, finding something amiss with the system's word but couldn't find any flaw in the system.

The system was right.

And so what if the system was using him? He'll just also exploit the system!

They are using each other, so why not just go along the process and exploit it?

"Deal!"

[Ding! Binding process in progress…

1%…

39%…

69%…

99%…

Ding! The System has successfully been binded! Please take good care of me, host!]

'Damn! Not only it is well versed in persuasion, it is also this energetic? A system that uses text but also talks, how many Life Simulator system can do this?'

[Host. Do you want to use the trial phase of the Simulation?]

"Trial phase?" Lucian asked confused. Thinking of why the system says it is a trial phase, rather than just saying first Simulation.

[It is because the system has awakened earlier than anticipated. The system can only provide a trail phase Simulation right now. By the way host, this Simulator does not use text based, but full dive VR-RPG Immersion.]

"..."

'Full immersion? That's going to kill me from memory overload! I'm afraid when I finished simulating, I'll never be the same as before!'

[I know your worries host. But don't worry! The system have it fully under control! During the simulation, you only retain some of your memories from the real world. Once you finish the simulation, as to not overload the host's brain and possibly create a different personality, we have already gave the host a cognitive ability to better process the memories.]

[So host, are you ready to do your Trail Phase in the simulation?]

Lucian puts his hands on his chin with a thoughtful look, before answering.

"Maybe later. But tell me, how is the Trial Phase different from the normal simulation?"

[Nothing much, only, it is just a normal Simulation with only one try unlike the three simulation per refresh.]

"…And how frequent is the refresh?"

Suddenly, he had a bad premonition. As though his dream is gonna be shattered into fragments.

He silently hoped that the refresh time is not very long, that it is only his imagination.

[Only one month, so don't worry host. You'll still have a lot of time.]

Lucian: "…"

Really? A lot of time? You say a lot of time? Who are you even kidding!?

Sullenly staring at the blue transparent screen right in front of him, he scowled lightly.

Do you want me to get killed!?

"Tsk. Whatever, I'll call you later when I'm ready to do the simulation."

[Understood.]

The transparent screen faded and retreated, leaving the red haired boy staring blankly at his front.

"I wonder what I should do now… I guess I'll walk around the neighborhood for a change."

...…

In a country in the Far East.

In the outskirts of an almost isolated looking island.

Built on it a massive metropolis city. It is bustling with people, a high-density place with one of the tallest buildings one could see.

It was built on the picture of building comfort and safety, as if being a safe haven for the people living in the areas.

Within it stand talls one of the world's top academy, a prestigious and elite all-girls school, Saint Freya Academy, founded by the granddaughter of the current head of the world organization that acts as the vanguard against the major threat this world has.

( AN: Idk, I forgot where the school compound was located, so yeah, I can't picture it quite well, and expect more of this as I literally forgot most about the game.)

The school has a scenic view that can make one agape in astonishment.

From the place of choice to the facilities, it was all top tier.

As the sun shine brightly down to the earth, vibrant voices of the students in there as they come out of the school complex.

Inside one of the staff facilities in the Academy.

"Love~ No need to be so grumpy. It will ruin your pretty face!" A man with a high frame and well built body acted pitifully at his wife. His sapphire red hair flowing indignantly, while his eyes glistering with beads of forced tears.

He was Lucian's father. A man with a fiery and explosive personality… as well as a bit *Chuni* (delusional). But near his wife… as if pouring cold water in seething heat, he acts like a simp and henpecked husband. Always ready to kneel on the washboard whenever she gets angry.

Who told this Schariac woman to actually be this horrifying?

Even I, a former Commander in a specialized unit within the Schicksal HQ, a former S-rank knight, Cassian Aurelius, cannot withstand her fury!

The wife, Aurelia Schariac, glared at her husband.

This is all your fault! Now look at our child. He had become so much delusional! I just hope that kid won't become an idiotic man in the future.

Sigh… How troublesome! Much more troublesome than those white haired bunches who only knows how to cook black unknown substances.

She forced herself to calm down. Just thinking about these father and son duo, she felt like her powers aren't even enough to elevate her back pain!

'Like father, like son. Truly, these two will be the end of me!'

Every word in her thoughts contain deep exasperation. She still cannot understand how this valiant figure turns out to be such a delusional.

Is it perhaps hereditary?

No! Definitely not! This guy's clan members all act normally! Only this guy acts totally reckless and thinks of himself as the main character. So the delusional personality of my child is definitely only inherited from this guy.

With each thought that pops out of her mind, the more she is convinced, and the more she gets exasperated.

Though of course that is not the only reason why she is feeling slumped right now. The current happenings in the academy… the girls that she directly supervises are such a headache!

You'll think that because of the prestige of the academy; which is actually a specialized military academy, all the students there should be at least, capable of taking care of themselves, right?

The same cannot be said to her students.

Either way, they always fail the exams despite doing everything she could to help her students at their studies.

"Sigh… Stop. I'm tired right now, so don't bother me for now."

In the end, she decided to rest for a while so she told her husband Cassian to stop bothering her for now.

Cassian though, whimpered like a dog that is getting abandoned by his owner. This clear show of *affection* made Aurelia more speechless.

"Like I said, stop clinging to me like this, or… you'll know what will happen."

She said this in a low voice, lightly threatening her husband.

This made her husband shudder a little, before hurriedly stood up and with a polite and gentle smile, he walked out of the room.

'Nigerundayo!'

"Finally some moment of peace…" With that, Aurelia slowly feel asleep on the couch.

Outside the door, as the man was walking on the corridor, a twelve year old white haired girl bumped into him.

"Ow! Hey, watch where you're going!"

The little girl in a nun dress rubbed her forehead and said grumpily.

"Ahh… Well hello there old friend! I have a request to make. Could you-"

"No. Deal with it on your own."

"But, what if-"

"There is no what if! Speak more or I'll cut off your salary!"

"I- Tsk. Well then, miss principal, I'll get going now, I still need to take care of my students."

The little- wait no, the Principal of Saint Freya Academy, Theresa Apocalypse, looked at the man with a disdainful look and snorted.

Who cares about a smelly man? Better dive into the bosom of her other favorite friend! Cecilia's clan member, Aurelia!

"Aurelia! I've come! I brought some foods! So let's watch HOMU while at it!"

Aurelia at the door…

She already chained, nailed and locked the door, like she is preventing a zombie outbreak.

"No way! I would not open the door! You're gonna ruin my beauty sleep! And no! I would not watch that cartoon with you! Nor am I eating and drinking that bitter snacks of yours!"

Yes, she's fundamentally different from the other Schariac who's quite naive due to compassion.

If her distant relative Cecilia Schariac is a compassionate woman who would definitely spend her time with their pitiful friend Theresa, then she, Aurelia Schariac is polar opposite, she would do whatever it takes to get away from that little menace!

"Then I will-"

"Theresa. You wouldn't want the Bishop to know what you had been up to, right?"

Theresa: "…"

'How cruel! I just wanted to spend my spare time with you!'

If the woman, Aurelia heard this, she would just scoff and sneer.

Rather than wasting time in nonsensical stuffs, wouldn't it be better to use it for productive work like finishing your allotted task?

"Come on Aurelia! I really want to talk to you. And this includes the topic about your son. I want to see him and make him a student of St. Freya Academy."

"Wait."

Clattering noise can be heard from inside the room. This made Theresa much more speechless.

'Just what did the woman did?'

"Come inside, Theresa."

After that, they move on towards the couch and sat down. Theresa even took out a bunch of HOMU comics and CDs for them to read and watch. As well as few drinks and snacks for them.

Of course, they are not only bitter melon flavor as Theresa knows that her friend doesn't really like its taste, so she bought some coffee flavor for her. If not…

"…"

She shudder at the thought of it. If she actually tried to push her luck and dared to make her dear friend drunk and eat her favorite food without any regards about her friend, wouldn't she get even more shorter?

Her friend is too terrifying! Rather than a Schariac, it's more accurate to call her a Kaslana! At least without the curse of them being a bunch of people who spent all their skill points on physical attributes rather than intelligent and cooking.

"Theresa, why do you want to enroll Lucian in this academy? It's definitely not only because you want to see him. So what's the real reason?"

"Indeed, I want to see the little guy. But you are also correct that it is not the only reason why I want to enroll him. As you know, St. Freya Academy was built for Valkyries that has been eroded by the Honkai for them to live normally. But that is not the only purpose of our academy, and you know it."

"Yeah of course, it is also a central hub for Valkyries in training, to make sure they have the necessary strength to protect humanity from the dangers of the Honkai."

Aurelia paused slightly, brows furrowed as she digested what those words meant, before she finally understood what Theresa meant by saying all of those to her.

Theresa, looking at her friend that is trembling all over, nodded and said in a serious tone.

"Yes, that's right. Your thoughts are precisely on point. I want to make sure the little guy can develop without the need for fear. After all, the bloodline of your husband is basically a cheat code for any people living in this world."

Aurelia frowned. Of course she knew.

Her husband's bloodline, the Aurelius family has one of the most terrifying bloodlines that exists in this world.

Reactive Adaptation.

If the Kaslanas are known for their High Honkai Resistance (Passive) and Ice Elemental trait, then the Aurelius House focuses on extreme resistance by adapting to the traits that attacks their bloodline.

Creating a permanent extreme resistance against those traits.

In fact, their active adaptation is so high that, even if they are born with low Honkai Resistance, given enough time, they can gain a Honkai Resistance comparable to at least B or A rank Valkyries.

Plus, aside that, they have Hyper-Regeneration to the point of having more self regenerative ability than the Schariac lineage and regenerate their lost limbs in minutes by burning massive Honkai reserves.

They also possesses psychic resistance and can manifest crystalline petals during high-stress combat to shield themselves or mark the enemies.

That's just how terrifying their bloodline is.

The Alchemist.

That's their role in the Schicksal Organization.

If the Kaslana is the body that acts; the Apocalypse is the mind that plans; the Schariac is the soul that cleanses; then the Aurelius is the life that adapts.

They are the driving force of evolution for the Schicksal Organization. Otto Apocalypse views them as a necessary Living Lab Equipment, while the House of Aurelius views him as a Temporal Static - a being stuck on their own past, refusing to bulge and adapt to the way of life.

They are the most dangerous allies of Otto Apocalypse. Viewing each other no more than a tool. Not even having a Love-and-Hate relationship with each other.

So one doesn't even need to guess what the tin can would do if the child of Schariac and Aurelius is left on their own, much like what happened to the child of Kaslana and Schariac.

"I-" Aurelia hurriedly stood up but was stopped by Theresa.

This made the woman glared at the principal of the academy.

Still, Theresa comforted Aurelia by saying:

"Calm down. You know it. Grandfather wouldn't do anything stupid. Aside from maybe, supervising Lucian, he wouldn't do anything to him, after all, unlike the House of Kaslana who has a few clan members, the House of Aurelius is still thriving, and considering the House's outlook on their members… They will definitely ravage the Schicksal HQ with several Honkai Beast in tow."

Hearing that, Aurelia finally relaxed. Theresa was right. After all, unlike the Kaslana who lives by their creed of sacrificial for the greater goods, the Aurelius mindset is the opposite, they value the lives of their house more than anything. So experimenting on a member, not by their hands, but at the wicked palms of their loathed overseer, is a direct slap to their creed.

"Huu… you're right. I should calm down."

With that, the two friends chatted with each other, regarding the future.

...

While all of those unfolded, Lucian is actually in a quite perilous situation.

Looking at the white floating thing that the captains used to call "Mosquito"… he had to admit.

Isn't he pretty much deep fried?

"Damn! As if I'll fight this bunch when I'm just a normal kid!"

Yes, he doesn't know his family is actually a ruling house.

After all, the House Aurelius is pretty much not present in Honkai Impact, so how could he knew?

And he doesn't even know a single thing about his mother's family side.

In short, he doesn't know actually know anything about fighting as his father doesn't teach him how to.

So yeah, he run away very fast.
