Miko didn't wait for them to finish their sentence.
He blurred, appearing inches away from the reptilian brute. The air cracked as he delivered a heavy roundhouse kick to the alien's ribs.
CRUNCH.
The soldier didn't even have time to scream. He was sent tumbling through the air, crashing through three thick trees before collapsing in a heap of broken armor.
"One," Miko muttered, his eyes shifting to the purple-skinned leader.
"You... you monster!" The purple alien scrambled backward, reaching into his pod. "I don't care what your power level is! Lord Frieza's researchers found this on a dead world—it's designed to kill 'Solar Demons' like you!"
He pulled out a metallic staff. It looked ancient, etched with strange, geometric symbols that didn't look like Frieza tech at all. At the tip of the staff was a jagged, glowing green crystal.
The moment it was unveiled, Miko's world spun.
"Ugh... what... the fuck is that, damn this shit I feel weak?"
The power that had been humming in his veins suddenly turned into lead. His knees buckled, hitting the dry dirt with a heavy thud. It felt like his blood was turning into acid, and the blue solar energy he had worked so hard to store was being drained away by the mere presence of that green glow.
[Warning! Warning!]
[Host exposed to High-Frequency Radioactive Isotope: Kryptonite.]
[All Kryptonian abilities suppressed. Cellular decay initiated.]
"Kryptonite..." Miko rasped, his breath coming in ragged gasps. "ROB... you really didn't make this easy. Actually adding in kryptonite you just pushed this world into a whole new tier for me"
The purple alien laughed, gaining his confidence back as he saw the "monster" child trembling on the ground. He stepped forward, the staff humming with a sickly light.
"The researchers called it the 'Staff of Rao's Curse.' It works wonders on your kind. You think just because you can stand under a sun you are a god? To us, you're just trash who can only be our slave and you will always remain a useless worthless trash in our eyes."
He raised the staff, intending to impale Miko through the chest.
Miko looked at the green crystal. His Kryptonian side was dying, but his Saiyan heart gave a violent, angry thrum.
I am a Saiyan! his instincts screamed. If one power fails, use the other!
"System..." Miko hissed through gritted teeth. "Ignore the Kryptonian cells. Burn... the... S-Cells! Trigger a Zenkai through the pain!"
[Warning: Forced Zenkai is extremely painful. Proceed?]
"DO IT!"
A burst of raw, emerald Ki exploded from Miko's body. It wasn't the calm, solar-powered energy from before; it was the wild, jagged power of the Legendary Super Saiyan. Normally the system surpressed it because Miko couldn't control it yet fully so he enters a half berserk state cause of all the anger he was feeling.
The shockwave caught the purple alien off guard, knocking him back. The distance was small, but it was enough. The suffocating pressure of the Kryptonite eased just a fraction.
Miko didn't use his hands. He used his tail.
The furry limb lashed out like a whip, wrapping around the alien's throat and yanking him forward. At the same time, Miko lunged, his fist glowing with a desperate, unstable green light.
"That staff," Miko growled, his voice a guttural roar. "Is mine."
CRACK.
Miko's fist met the alien's face, but he didn't stop there. He grabbed the hand holding the staff and snapped the wrist like a dry twig. The staff clattered to the ground, and Miko immediately kicked it away, sending it flying fifty yards into the forest.
The radiation faded. His Kryptonian cells began to drink the blue sunlight again, healing the damage instantly.
Miko stood over the trembling, broken soldier.
"You mentioned a 'dead world,'" Miko said, his shadow looming over the alien. "Tell me everything about Krypton. Now. Or I'll see how many times I can break your bones before you stop breathing. You better start talking!"
The purple alien was coughing up blue blood, his four eyes wide with terror as Miko's tail tightened around his throat.
"Answer me," Miko growled. "How did you know? And where did that staff come from?"
"The... the labs!" the alien wheezed. "When you were in the nursing tank on Planet Vegeta... the scouters couldn't read your potential. It kept fluctuating. Lord Frieza's scientists found a 'Second Signature' in your blood. They called you an Anomaly."
Miko's grip tightened. "So Frieza knows."
"He knows you're a hybrid! That's why you're here! This planet wasn't a mission... it was a disposal site! We were sent to watch you die. If the lizards didn't kill you, we were ordered to use the staff!"
Miko looked at the glowing green staff in the distance. "And Krypton? You said it was a dead world. Tell me more"
"Frieza... he did it twenty years ago," the alien choked out. "The Kryptonians were too proud. They wouldn't bow. He turned their red sun into a supernova. He kept a few of their artifacts—like that crystal—just in case any survivors popped up."
Miko felt a cold chill. Frieza hadn't just destroyed the Saiyans in this timeline; he had already wiped out the Kryptonians. He was playing the game on a much larger scale. Literally he was already planning to visit krypton after he leaves here but turns out there's no more krypton to go to.
"System," Miko thought. "Can I build an immunity to that green rock?"
[Ding!]
[Evolution Path Updated.]
[To overcome Kryptonite: Host must achieve 'Legendary Super Saiyan' state to burn out the radiation, or find the 'Yellow Sun' essence.]
Miko dropped the purple alien. The soldier slumped to the ground, unconscious.
"Frieza thinks just because he has the rocks he could beat me but he forgot one thing am a saiyan and I would always adapt to anything thrown at me," Miko said, looking up at the blue sun. He could feel his power level continuing to climb. He wasn't just a Saiyan anymore. He was but a kid carrying the burden of two worlds one dead and the other about to be destroyed.
He walked over to the Kryptonian staff. His skin crawled as he got close, but he didn't back down. He grabbed a heavy rock and smashed the metallic casing, leaving only the glowing green crystal.
"I'm taking this with me," Miko muttered, wrapping the crystal in lead-lined scraps from the alien's pod to dampen the radiation. "Next time someone tries to use this on me, I'll make them eat it."
He looked at the two pods the soldiers arrived in. They were much better than his old Saiyan pod.
"System, can you interface with these ships? I need to find the coordinates for Earth. If I'm going to survive Frieza, I need Master Roshi's training... and I need a yellow sun."
