The North, the Wall
"Battle!"
With a roar piercing the silent night sky, the Night's Watch soldiers hiding in the outposts were startled awake from their dreams.
Hearing their comrade's warning, they quickly donned their armor, grabbed their weapons, and rushed toward the incident point without hesitation, ready for the upcoming fight.
"Fire!"
At the commander's order, the Night's Watch soldiers already in position notched their arrows and aimed at the wights climbing the ice wall.
"Whish whish…"
"Hiss hiss hiss…"
Arrows poured down like rain, shooting down the intruding wights one by one. These special dragonglass arrows were crafted by the Night's Watch Craster and were very effective against these wights.
As shouts continued to ring out, countless shivering Night's Watch soldiers quickly ran to the warning positions.
Day after day of fighting left them exhausted, yet the enemies seemed endless. If not for the continuous support from the North, they likely wouldn't have held out so long.
"Enemies here, come quickly…"
"These bitches have climbed up…"
…Just then, not far from the previous battle site, several Night's Watch soldiers called out in panic.
By the time nearby Night's Watch soldiers reacted and ran over, the soldiers there had already begun fighting, using special dragonglass spears to stab the wights climbing the ice wall below.
These dragonglass spears were meticulously crafted by the Night's Watch Crasters, capable of easily piercing the wights' decaying bodies.
However, despite the Night's Watch soldiers' fierce resistance, the number of wights seemed infinite, pouring out of the darkness as if to swallow all the light on the ice wall.
"Keep it up, everyone! Samwell is here!"
"Our 'Slayer' is here!"
"Hurrah!"
…Just as the Night's Watch soldiers were being pushed back by the endless stream of wights, the figure of a warrior stood out remarkably.
He wore a worn leather armor set with several sharp pieces of dragonglass embedded in it, and held a heavy battle-axe in his hand, looking very imposing.
With the appearance of Samwell Tarly, the Night's Watch warriors who were nearly defeated were instantly revitalized.
As Samwell approached the Night's Watch soldiers, a group of wights was slowly closing in, their bodies exceptionally decayed and letting out bone-chilling low growls.
Seeing the critical situation, Samwell took a deep breath and gripped the handle of his battle-axe, feeling the familiar cold touch.
He knew the battle ahead would be a life-and-death struggle—no retreat, only moving forward.
Yet, Samwell felt no fear, for he knew the gods were watching him, and the incredibly powerful Lord Aegon would help him at any time.
The wights continued their advance. Although the cold weather beyond the Wall slowed the decomposition of their corpses, the pungent stench they emitted still made the Night's Watch soldiers want to gag.
However, seeing this, Samwell's gaze grew even more determined. He suddenly charged into the swarm of wights, his battle-axe tracing arcs of cold light in the air.
"Thud!"
A dull impact sounded as the battle-axe struck a wight's head heavily, splitting it in two.
Black blood splattered everywhere, some landing on surrounding wights and some on Samwell's leather armor, but he didn't seem to notice, continuing to swing his axe and charge at another wight.
"Thud thud… crack…"
Every swing of the axe was accompanied by the sound of breaking bones, and every impact sent a monster in the wight swarm tumbling down.
Samwell's figure wove through the wight swarm like a rampaging tank, dangerous and lethal.
Though the wights kept pouring in, they were as fragile as snowmen under Samwell's battle-axe.
Every one of Samwell's attacks was full of power and resolve, his battle-axe drawing elegant arcs in the air, cutting down wight after wight.
"Kill them!"
"Hurrah!"
"Destroy these bitches!"
…Inspired by Samwell, the Night's Watch warriors erupted with unparalleled courage.
Although they faced a massive and terrifying army of wights, whose numerical advantage seemed unstoppable…
…the narrow path at the top of the Wall became a key factor in the Night's Watch's resistance.
Due to the narrow path, when Jon was skinchanging into Samwell, he had him set up specialized dragonglass barricades on both sides of the passage. In this freezing environment, setting up these barricades was very simple.
In fact, when fixing the wooden frames, there was no need for nails or hemp ropes; pouring a bucket of water was enough.
The sloped barricade bases could even prevent the wights from climbing, and on the side of the Wall facing north, Jon had specifically set downward-facing dragonglass barricades.
The reason these wights could climb the Wall was due to their terrifying claws and the ice bridges created by the Others. If the three-hundred-league-long Wall hadn't been constantly patrolled by the Night's Watch, it likely would have been breached long ago.
It was precisely because of these defensive structures that the wights couldn't unleash their full strength at once, forced to squeeze forward with their numerical advantage.
"Roar…"
Just as Samwell was wreaking havoc in the wight swarm, a thunderous roar suddenly appeared outside the ice wall of the Wall.
The sound shook the entire battlefield, instilling an inexplicable fear; many Night's Watch soldiers still fighting were even scared into stopping their movements.
Then, a head as large as a wagon wheel appeared before everyone's eyes. Half of its head was decayed, revealing bone and a mangled face of flesh and blood.
The appearance of this Giant Wight instantly reversed the favorable situation, and the Night's Watch warriors were pushed back.
They had been winning, but against this massive wight, their strength seemed insignificant.
Dragonglass spears couldn't kill this monster immediately, only leaving scratches on its body like melting ice, and every attack provoked an even more frantic retaliation.
The Giant Wight's body was immense, nearly four meters tall. Its steps were heavy and slow, each step seemingly shaking the earth.
Its arms were thick and powerful, each swing creating a gust of wind that sent nearby Night's Watch warriors flying.
The Night's Watch tried to organize an effective resistance, but their attacks were futile against this Giant Wight.
This terrifying creature seemed intent on breaking the Night's Watch line this way, so before its body could fully decompose, it fought desperately.
The appearance of the Giant Wight threw the battlefield into chaos, and those human and animal wights took the opportunity to slip into the Night's Watch's defensive lines.
"Roar roar roar…"
At this critical moment, deafening dragon roars suddenly echoed above the Wall. The sound was like thunder, shaking hearts and filling all who heard it with awe.
Then, the Night's Watch warriors felt a strong wind sweeping toward them, as if an invisible force was rapidly approaching.
This sudden turn of events made them grip their weapons tightly, prepared to meet an unknown challenge.
"Boom boom boom…"
Just then, three streaks of scorching dragonfire streaked across the sky like meteors, instantly shooting toward the dense, ant-like swarms of wights.
This dragonfire carried endless heat and destructive power, as if to turn any enemy blocking its path into ash.
The three streams of dragonfire extended outward from the left, right, and front of the Night's Watch warriors, illuminating the entire battlefield while destroying the wights.
When the dragonfire touched the wight swarm, its terrifying power instantly triggered a spectacular explosion.
For a moment, flames soared and heat waves rolled everywhere atop the Wall. The appearance of the dragonfire directly lit up the originally dim battlefield.
Those once-ferocious wights were turned to ash under the incineration of the dragonfire, no longer able to pose a threat to the Night's Watch warriors.
This scene shocked and delighted all the Night's Watch warriors; they had never imagined such a powerful force would descend upon their battlefield.
This sudden aid reignited their hope and strengthened their confidence in continuing to guard the Wall.
Soon after launching the dragonfire, the three dragons that had suddenly appeared quickly withdrew from the top of the Wall, as if they had never been there.
As the dragonfire dissipated, very few wights remained on the battlefield atop the Wall.
"Kill them!"
"Send these wretched things back to the Seven Hells!"
…Seeing the favorable turn of events, Samwell quickly organized his Night's Watch warriors and took the opportunity to launch a counterattack.
Through the efforts of the Night's Watch warriors, the wights that had broken through the defenses and onto the Wall were quickly eliminated.
And the Giant Wight that had been wreaking havoc on the Wall was decapitated by a single axe blow from Samwell.
Although the system weapons Jon gave him couldn't kill wights directly like dragonglass, these weapons that cut through iron like butter were very effective for breaking formations.
So in normal combat, Samwell only needed to dismember the wights, leaving the Night's Watch warriors behind him to finish them off.
