Chapter 71 - Episode 71 – The File That Shouldn’t Exist

🚆 Love Train in Facebook Station

09:28 PM – Abandoned Service Apartment (Temporary Safe Zone)

The door shut hard.

Locks engaged.

Curtains pulled.

Signals jammed.

For the first time since the club—

They stopped moving.

On the bed—

Sasmita lay still, breathing slow, eyes half-closed.

Not unconscious.

But not fully present either.

Near the window—

Srikant stood silent.

Watching her.

Not blinking much.

And at the table—

Rudra Sen was already working.

Fast.

Focused.

Urgent.

The Code Name

"S-17…" Rudra murmured again.

Repeating it like it meant something dangerous.

Srikant turned.

"You said you've seen it before."

Rudra didn't answer immediately.

He pulled up an old encrypted archive.

Layers of security.

Dead records.

Files that shouldn't even be accessible.

"I thought it was erased…" he said quietly.

The Retrieval

The system resisted.

Firewalls triggered.

Access denied.

Rudra bypassed one layer.

Then another.

Then one more.

Finally—

A file opened.

Classified Record

PROJECT: SYNAPSE

SUBJECT: S-17

STATUS: ACTIVE / UNSTABLE

Srikant stepped closer.

"What is this?"

Rudra's voice lowered—

"This… is not just an experiment."

Pause.

"It's a weaponization program."

The Truth Begins

Srikant's eyes shifted to Sasmita.

Back to the screen.

"You're saying… she's part of this?"

Rudra nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Memory Fracture

On the bed—

Sasmita moved slightly.

Eyes opening halfway.

Fragments flashed again.

White lights.

Cold rooms.

A voice repeating—

"Stability test… subject S-17…"

She sat up suddenly.

Breathing uneven.

The Question

"Mu kie…?" she whispered again.

Then corrected herself—

"Who… am I?"

Srikant moved to her immediately.

"You're Sasmita."

She looked at him.

Long.

Searching.

"That's what you call me…" she said.

That line—

Cut deeper than expected.

Rudra Continues

"Listen carefully," Rudra said.

Both of them turned.

"This program—Synapse—was designed to create adaptive human intelligence."

"Not just smart…"

Pause.

"Predictive. Reactive. Controllable."

The Connection

Srikant's voice hardened—

"And Axis is running it now."

Rudra nodded.

"Yes."

The Missing Part

"But there's a problem," Rudra added.

"What?" Srikant asked.

Rudra looked at the screen again.

Zoomed in.

CREATOR ID: REDACTED

"That part is erased," he said.

Suspicion

Srikant's expression darkened.

"Convenient."

Rudra didn't reply.

Because something else caught his eye.

The Shock

A hidden sub-layer opened.

Automatically.

Like it was waiting.

New line appeared—

INITIAL HANDLER: SRIKANT

Silence.

Complete.

Impact

Srikant froze.

"What…?"

Rudra didn't speak.

Didn't need to.

Because the screen was clear.

Truth Hits

"You were connected to this project…" Rudra said slowly.

Srikant shook his head.

"No."

Immediate.

Strong.

"I would remember."

The Dangerous Possibility

Rudra replied calmly—

"That's the point."

"If your memory was altered…"

Pause.

"You wouldn't."

Sasmita Watches

From the bed—

Sasmita was looking at both of them.

Silent.

Processing.

"Then…" she said slowly.

She looked at Srikant.

"You didn't just find me…"

Pause.

"You made me?"

Emotional Break

That question—

Was heavier than any attack.

Srikant stepped back slightly.

Not out of fear.

But confusion.

"I don't know…" he said.

For the first time—

Uncertain.

Inner Conflict

Sasmita's expression changed again.

Soft…

Then distant.

"If that's true…" she whispered.

"Then what am I supposed to be?"

Rudra's Doubt

Rudra looked at her.

Carefully.

"Right now?"

Pause.

"A risk."

Silence

Srikant turned sharply—

"Enough."

But Rudra didn't back down.

"If Axis can trigger her again…"

"They don't need to chase us."

"They already have what they want."

Final Scene

Far away—

In a secured command space—

Sovereign watched the same file.

Beside him—

Meera Vashisht asked—

"They found the file."

Sovereign nodded.

"Good."

She frowned.

"You wanted that?"

He smiled faintly.

"Of course."

Pause.

"Because doubt…"

His eyes darkened slightly.

"Is more powerful than control."
