Gavin stood hidden the entire time Maverick had been with Lucrezia.
Just as the girl left, he stepped out of the shadows, clearing his throat before asking the question.

Maverick turned to him before giving a curt nod, the two of them making their way back to where they'd come from.
As they entered the pathway to a floor underground, heading to the stenching room of a cell, Maverick couldn't help but return his gaze to his arm where the red spot had dried.
He had tried to clean it off before approaching her. Small things like that rarely escaped Lucrezia's notice.
He remembered all too well how she would react whenever her father carried out punishments in front of her. The way she would stiffen… sometimes even shiver when the room filled with the metallic scent of blood pooling on the floor.
