Phoenix leaned on her chair and hummed. She narrowed her eyes to Moonlight and then to Red. She stayed quiet for some seconds before opening her mouth.
"Umm, if I were to say my age in your years then I will be at least 17 or 18 of years."
"Huh?!" uttered Red. "You're younger than me!"
The entire room turned attention to them. Red once more flew into a rage as she dragged Phoenix's dress saying, 'You had to kids before me and I'm older.' 'Is there anything I'm better than you at?'
Phoenix released herself and smugly said, "Don't worry it's just three years older. There's nothing wrong been an old woman with no kids. In fact, that 90 yr old shaman has no kids so it's no big deal at all."
"It is a big deal!" Red said twice.
"But,"
Red's calm voice returned.
"Right now, my daughter takes priority first. Please I am so glad to present the masterpiece that will change the rate of sales in this place. I present the—huh?"
Phoenix burst into laughter immediately.
Moonlight looked deeply into their eyes, blankly. His mouth about to swallow the last piece of chip and below him, an empty plate blessed with a golden sauce which bears no smell.
"Arrrgh!" screamed Red, dragging her own hair and breathing heavily while staring blindly at Moonlight.
After a while, she stopped and sighed.
"Is it good?"
Moonlight shook, eyed Phoenix and nodded.
Red sighed again on hearing his answer. Her heart seemed to cool down and she faced Phoenix. "I don't know what to say but all I can say is Age is just a number."
She then slapped her face and stretched her body. "Fech!" called Red.
Red then abruptly sat down with her hands folded. She glared at the crowd and they all hid their faces; murmuring silently with their pairs. Red scratched her hair and clicked her tongue. Hence, the table went silent once more.
After a long minute of extra quietness, Phoenix suddenly stood up and hit the table, loud enough to cause an echo.
"You said something about a daughter. I want to see her." Phoenix said.
"Oh ho, so you are interested in her. Not even two is enough for you. But sure enough, I will accept that request." Red said, flashing a grin to Phoenix's face. Then she stood up on her own.
"Since the sauce problem has been settled. Let's move on to the main event. Shall we?"
Red said in a cold and serious tone.
"Are you trying to scare us?" Phoenix casually said.
"No. Not at all," Her tone returning to its playful and gentle form,
Phoenix sighed, tapped the table twice to signal Moonlight. Moonlight then swallowed the last piece and got up from his seat.
Red gasped, "Always straight to the point. Certainly are the most unusual folk I've come across."
Red stood up and guided them to a door at the back of the counter. The people's eyes stared at them but none spoke a word. Red suspiciously looked left and right before gesturing them in.
"Fech," She whispered.
A young waiter ran to them, answering, "Yes."
Red pulled her ears and whispered, "Inform me if my husband comes, okay?"
The young waiter nodded and went back to her work.
Beyond the door was a stairway which led to the second floor. It was narrow. The walls were painted grey and portraits were hanged on opposite sides.
The floor seemed quiet. Sunlight entered through two windows that sat opposite each other. The walkway had eight doors in total; four at each sides. Each appeared to have their significance.
"I don't smell a kitchen up here." Phoenix commented.
Moonlight looked through everywhere. The air was thick unlike places he had seen. But one thing interested him, he could not sense Red's child.
"Well that's because there is already one below." Red replied.
Red stopped at the last door to the left. She held the knob and opened it. A silent creak could be heard as a shade of light hid what lays beyond it.
A little girl lay on a soft little beside the window. The child's yellow hair covered her face entirely while the sun sparkled on her little body.
Red had her face down as she turned to Phoenix. "Sorry I really wanted you to see her but she's asleep."
Red apologized with sincerity.
Phoenix scratched her hair and muttered, "Well… hah, that's no problem."
"Really…"
Phoenix and Red began a light conversation.
Moonlight moved closer to the girl and crouched beside her bed. He observed for a moment and whispered, "Why fake a sleep?"
He then walks back to Phoenix and said, "I want to go."
Phoenix quickly cut her conversation with a final statement, "Don't worry I may visit from time to time."
With that, they rushed down and packed their things.
However, just as they walked past a meter from the house, Phoenix said to Moonlight. "Do you want to go to school?"
