Early in the morning, Moonlight had already set out with Rab. Their destination? A school known for teaching the young, Beginner Academy. "What a boring start?" whispered Rab.
Rab still kept the horses in perfect condition. Their similar looking faces. Brown and a whiff of white paint on each their eyes. Their black huffs touched the ground without touching it and their speed cast a bit of dust on the eyes of Rab. But, he was already used to it.
Throughout Moonlight's entire life, he had spent 90% of it in the library at the Adna house. In that time, he has read multiple books, stories or even picture books whereas some held no color. He longs to see one the world which he has read in books but, due to experiences, something stops him from actually performing the one thing needed to achieve that goal.
Which was?
Communication,
The one thing Moonlight can do but can't keep for long.
Now, where he is headed is a place where communication will certainly be needed; the city of Vista, the land where all things are equal.
It took three hours for Rab to reach the destination. In front of them, stood a white gate which drew the line between them and the inner buildings. Moonlight came down and he was indeed not fascinated by the sight in front of him. "She still lied." He muttered.
From the gate, came the guard assigned there, "Oh, plea…" His voice stopped as he saw Moonlight. Quickly, he opened the gate. 'There weren't lying.' The man thought, watching Moonlight walk closer to the main building.
As Moonlight reached about a meter away from the gate, the guard then closed the gate and returned to his post. Outside, Rab waited until the gate closed before zooming off.
The main gate and the main building were just a twenty meter walk away, a straight line connected them both. Therefore, all Moonlight had to do was walk in a straight direction. He could've asked for directions from that guard but he didn't.
Meters away, tiny chatters could be heard coming from the second floor. Faces were glued to the windows, all gazed at the being whom walked through their courtyard. Moonlight sped his walk in hope of freedom from those eyes. Yet, they still continued, curiosity filled their eyes and their stare did not leave until he left their sights.
The hallway, the bridge connecting the lower and upper floor, had an unusually quiet atmosphere despite the noise erupting from above. Moonlight's head turned to the very first door and he decided, "This is where I'm entering first."
Behind the door, rested a fair-skinned lady on a desk piled with documents. Drool fell off her mouth while chants escaped from her sleep, and the morning sun cast a blinding glow on her deep brown hair.
~CREAK~
The door opened.
"Huh? Ah!"
The lady lifted her head and screamed in shock. Suddenly, her chair screeched from being pulled backwards, creating a distance between her and Moonlight.
Standing beside the door was none other than Moonlight Adna. "W-who are you?!" asked the lady. Instantly, her eyes sharpened and slowly, she lifted her hands. So slow that no one would even know her body moved.
"My name is Moonlight Adna. I believe this is the first place I'm meant to enter." Moonlight answered.
'Oh, an Adna,'
Hearing that, the lady calmed and leased her guard. Immediately, she sighed, reset her looks and appearance, and at the end, she gave a smile and sat back on her seat. "Please take a seat." Her hands pointed to a chair in the office.
Without taking her eyes off Moonlight, she took a piece of paper from an opened drawer. With it, she picked a pen. The paper was spread flat on the desk surface and using her hands, she arranged it neatly. "Please answer these simple questions. It won't take that long. Do you understand?"
She asked with a comforting tone.
Moonlight confirmed by nodding his head.
"Okay, what's your name?"
"Moonlight Adna,"
On hearing, she wrote it down on the paper. "What's your age?"
"Seven." Moonlight replied, and she put it down.
"What's your height? Have you checked it yet?" The lady asked.
"140cm." replied Moonlight.
"Okay now what's…"
For minutes, she asked more and more questions that pried directly into Moonlight's personal life. This naturally would bore anyone out, but strangely, Moonlight enjoyed the questions and happily answered all. "…and that is all, thank you for your time."
The lady said, leading to the end of the Q&A. Then suddenly, she prepared to stand but she stopped halfway.
"You're an Adna, right?" She asked, her tone expressed she wanted a 'yes' from him. Moonlight replied with a nod. 'Yes!'
"Does that mean if I tell you where to go, you won't get lost, right?" She inquired.
Moonlight nods.
Her lips curled upwards and she fell back to her seat. Sudden hints of elation rinsed off her body as she leaned backwards to the back. 'Finally,' she thought.
"All right, you're to meet with a teacher named Victor Rociv. Seriousity leeches off him like a bug to poop, can you find him?"
That wasn't enough to look for someone but for Moonlight, it was more than enough. Moments later, Moonlight excused himself through the door. The lady watched him leave and at the end, gave him a final word. "I'm Naal. If you need help, just call on me. Bye." She then waved.
Until, he was far gone.
'So that's an Adna.'
"The principal sure overrates."
Along the hallway, Moonlight moved to the only place sound could be heard. It was a big hall, filled with kids of age five to seven; they numbered about fifty-nine in total. All took their seats and listened to the voice of a man who stood at their front. In fact, it was the man's voice that covered the room.
He stood there in dark-pink overall, his hair was combed backwards and while he spoke, used his hands to gesture the crowd.
For a solid second, Moonlight stood outside the door. When he realized not a single soul knew he was there, he knocked. But not on the already opened door, he knocked on the wall to his left. Only then, Victor noticed him.
'Black skin, tender body and eyes with no emotions, there's no doubt.' On the first of seeing Moonlight, Victor gave his observation. "Good Morning, please come in and take a seat. Are you perhaps the Adna enrolling in?"
Moonlight nods.
"Okay. Please take a seat." Victor said, using his hand to point towards the crowd.
All attention shifted, as Moonlight entered. Yet, neither the children nor the room itself made a sound. He sat at the front row, as he noticed it was empty. The majority seemed to not want sit at the front for some reason.
"Good morning to you all, I haven't had the chance to introduce myself. My name is Rociv Victor, the teacher of class of 10. Here, I'm going to brief you on the school."
Victor coughed to clear his voice.
"Beginner Academy of Vista, the academy created to enlighten the unprivileged or in other words, those of poor backgrounds. This is the start of a new session and this is also, the start of the day that determines all your futures. The school offers multiple lessons in order for you to discover where your talent is hidden. So, please if you find you subject of expertise, I recommend for you to invest there. I, Victor, am a product of this. So, if you lose your way, remember that I exist."
"Furthermore, I…"
Victor continued, telling the crowd all about the school. Half an hour later, it appeared he still was not done. One hour, yet not done. Then, after two whole hours, only then he ended. By now, half of the majority were already far gone into sleep and, including the rowl atop Moonlight's head.
"I'm done finally. So, is there anyone with a question?" Victor asked.
He knew nobody would ask, but for formalities, he inquired. His eyes opened in slight shock as he saw a tender hand of a girl with long hair being raised. 'Now this is something new.
"Me! I have a question! Are pets aloud?!"
For a moment, Victor pondered. He replied. "Yep,"
"Okay." Hence, the girl sat down.
Immediately after, he asked if anyone had any other questions and due to extreme silence, he decided to move on to the next stage. The entire hall was called out, including Moonlight. The children arranged in order of their ages and from them, they were shown their classes.
Lessons began immediately; the teachers came in just to put down on the board the scheme of work for the term. Moonlight was placed in the class of 7 and naturally, no one went near him nor tried to talk to him. But he actually loved this treatment, so, it won't hurt him at all.
Then, just around at noon, something interesting happened.
"Is Moonlight Adna in this Class?"
