"But Kisaragi's monster only has 2400 ATK—it's weaker than Dark Magician," Mokuba worried.
"It's fine," Kaiba said flatly. "With her personality, she wouldn't put a low-ATK monster on the field without a plan."
"My turn—draw!"
"I don't know what you're plotting," Pandora chuckled, "but those set cards are clearly there to take down my Dark Magician, aren't they? Heh heh heh!"
"Battle! Dark Magician, attack Witchcrafter Haine—Dark Magic Attack!"
"He knows she has set traps—so why attack anyway?" Téa asked, confused.
"I activate the Quick-Play Spell Anti-Magic Arrows from my hand!" Kisaragi said. "This card can only be activated at the start of either player's Battle Phase. After it resolves, neither player can activate Spell/Trap effects until the end of the turn!"
"What?! Then Kisaragi can't activate her face-down cards!" Téa gasped.
Countless glowing arrows burst from the card and slammed into Kisaragi's set cards, pinning them down as if sealing them in place.
Kisaragi smiled faintly.
"Too bad for you—I'm not dealing with you using Spells or Traps."
"What?!"
"I activate Witchcrafter Haine's effect! By discarding one Spell card from my hand, I can target one face-up card you control and destroy it."
"I discard Witchcrafter Holiday… and destroy Dark Magician!"
Dozens of needles materialized around Haine. With a sharp gesture, she sent them shooting forward—piercing Dark Magician's body until it shattered into fragments of darkness.
"My… Dark Magician… got destroyed just like that…?" Pandora muttered, stunned.
"Honestly," Kisaragi said coldly, "you're terrible at piloting Dark Magician. Yugi's leagues above you."
Pandora's face twisted with rage.
"I'm the world's greatest magician! I refuse to accept that anyone is more worthy of Dark Magician than me!"
He forced himself to breathe, then slammed down two cards.
"I set two cards. End my turn!" (Hand: 2)
"My turn—draw!"
"Battle! Witchcrafter Haine, direct attack!"
"Got you!" Pandora snapped. "I activate Itaqua's Storm! It changes the battle positions of all face-up monsters you control—so your Witchcrafter Haine switches to Defense Position!"
A desert hawk appeared and beat its wings. A violent gale swept the field, forcing Haine down into a defensive stance.
"And now I activate Tragedy of the Guillotine!" Pandora continued. "This trap can be activated when an Attack Position monster on your field is changed to face-up Defense Position. Then destroy all Defense Position monsters you control!"
A guillotine rose beneath Haine. The blade swayed above her neck.
Téa squeezed her eyes shut. "Ah…!"
The blade dropped—
But Haine was still there.
Kisaragi tilted her head. "Don't do something that bloody in front of a girl."
"Why didn't your monster get destroyed?!" Pandora shouted.
"Because of Witchcrafter Bystreet," Kisaragi answered. "Once per turn, my Witchcrafter monster on the field can't be destroyed by battle or card effects."
"So that's why you attacked even though you knew I had set cards," she added, voice calm. "Right?"
"Hah… that's right," Pandora admitted with a grin.
Kisaragi's smile sharpened.
"But my attack isn't over."
"Impossible!" Pandora barked. "You're in Defense Position—you shouldn't be able to attack!"
Kisaragi pressed a button on her Duel Disk.
"I activate the Trap Gravity Release! It changes the battle positions of all monsters on the field—so Witchcrafter Haine returns to Attack Position, and I can attack!"
"Battle! Witchcrafter Haine, direct attack!"
"AAH!"

"That's it. End of my turn."
"At the End Phase, I add Witchcrafter Holiday from my Graveyard back to my hand." (Hand: 5)
"My turn—draw!"
"I activate Pot of Greed! I draw two cards!"
Pandora's expression lit up the moment he saw what he drew.
"I activate the Spell Beckon to Darkness!"
Dark clouds churned overhead. From within them, a cursed hand clawed out—writhing like something alive.
"This card drags a monster into darkness with a cursed hand!" Pandora cackled. "And it's grabbing your Witchcrafter Haine!"
The hand lunged for Haine.
"Because of Witchcrafter Bystreet, my Witchcrafter monster can't be destroyed once per turn," Kisaragi said.
"Then I'll just wipe the whole field!" Pandora roared. "I activate Dark Hole—destroy all monsters!"
A black vortex opened at the center of the arena. Haine was pulled in and swallowed whole.
"Hahaha! Now your monster is gone!" Pandora shouted. "Next—I activate Magician's Curtain! I pay half my Life Points and Special Summon Dark Magician from my Deck!"

Kisaragi didn't panic.
"I chain the Quick-Play Spell Crystal Magic: Tears of Light! When you activate an effect, I can Special Summon one 'Witchcrafter' or 'Sage' monster from my hand or Deck."

"I don't know," Grandpa Mutou said. "Maybe she's baiting him into attacking."
Grandpa Mutou was right—Pandora had been suppressed the entire duel, and now he couldn't think straight.
"Hahahaha! Kisaragi—so even you can make a mistake this big! You summoned such a weak monster in front of my Dark Magician!"
