Chapter 83 - Chapter 82 — Slackers by Day, Writers by Night (Part 6)

"Authors? I want to cut hair!"

You don't understand. . .

"I want to kill the Demon King, not write a story where I defeat him."

That's not what I meant.

"Are the two of you going to let me finish?"

"This time, you were clever, Kaela. My brother Donkey and I like your idea."

Thank goodness we were all drunk.

"Without money, we won't get anywhere. In other words, money is the engine that drives your dreams."

"That's my servant! I never doubted you, Kaela!"

Donkey placed his hooves on the table.

"Thank you, Your Majesty."

These slackers' cooperation was essential.

I couldn't let this opportunity slip away.

"Why do you think money will solve our problems?"

"Seraphine, are you going to open a salon by selling your body?"

"No!"

She covered her breasts with her hands, her face turning red.

"With money, we can open a salon, win over women, and promote Donkey's coronation. Not even a rock would vote for that animal."

"HEE-HAW! Hey, Kaela, whose side are you on?"

I'm on my own side. . . Heh heh!

"What's with that smile?"

Lyra hung from my neck.

"Huh? I was just imagining our future."

Whenever money came up, my personality changed completely.

"Kaela!"

Seraphine raised her hand.

"What is it, girl without a salon?"

"So you don't need money?"

Hmm. . .

"Why would I need money when I have all of you?"

I only wanted to resolve our problems.

"Kaela, even a donkey doesn't work for free. Are you going to work for nothing?"

"Nobody asked you, Donkey."

A good business owner never reveals her plans to her employees.

"Anyway, we all need money. Money makes everything move. That's why I suggested becoming authors. It doesn't require any hard labor. Ha ha ha!"

I had always wanted to be the villain.

"Interesting. I need to save my energy for the day I become king of this country. And becoming an author will boost my reputation."

Donkey wasn't even trying to hide his intentions.

"Ah, I was actually enjoying what you call work."

"Really, Donkey? What about your allergy?"

Seraphine poked his face.

"We've worked plenty of times."

Plenty of times?

I didn't remember that.

"I just forgot what it was like to be free to love a woman."

Dorian hugged Mortar, who was asleep on the ground.

The guild members formed a circle around us to watch our discussion, but it seemed that wasn't why they were there.

They were. . .

"What are you writing down?"

"Hello, my name is Angel. It's nice to meet you. I'm looking for ideas for my story."

She was a beautiful elf wearing green clothes, with her hair tied back.

"You're a writer, right?"

"Yes. I'm here with my group, and they're writers too."

That was true. I had noticed them sitting apart from the other guild members.

"I'm Kaela, and these people standing in front of me. . . don't need an introduction."

I didn't want another lunatic on my team.

"Ha ha! I know who you are because you're famous."

"Famous?"

"Sniff, sniff!"

"What are you doing?"

She put a hand against my face and pushed me away.

"I thought you were drunk too."

I suspected Angel had mistaken us for another group of adventurers.

Us? Famous?

Those idiots?

Hahaha!

"Did you hear what that girl said, Donkey? Soon we'll be surrounded by women."

Just as I was explaining our plan, someone had to show up and interrupt us.

"She only stated the truth. And Dorian, show Mortar some respect. We're in public, and I don't want any misunderstandings that could tarnish my image."

It had seemed too good to be true. . .

"You really are famous, but not for the reason Donkey explained."

"Oh? Then what are we famous for?"

"Well. . ."

She pulled up a chair and rested her notes on her lap.

"People are calling you. . ."

"Don't be embarrassed to say it. We've been called weirdos, lunatics, idiots, and morons. There are greater compliments than those, right, Kaela?"

Why was Donkey looking at me?

"But those. . . aren't compliments," Angel stammered.

"They are to us!"

"Get me out of this group, Donkey! I'm not one of them."

He stuck his nose in the air and ignored me.

"Ah, since you're used to this kind of compliment, I can tell you. I feel so relieved! I was afraid to say it."

It had to be worse than all that.

That was impossible.

I had to know.

"We won't do anything to you, Angel."

I took her hands in mine.

"Ow, Kaela! You're squeezing my hands."

"Come on, tell us already!"
