Chapter 32 - It can't come quickly enough

Wednesday woke up as every other day, her body rigid, only her chest rose up like a vampire as her arms were crossed over her chest.

She opened her eyes, she saw how Enid was still sleeping.

Wednesday stood off her bed, she instantly started getting ready, she bathed, changed and brushed her teeth in only 30 minutes, which 10 were specifically only for her to do her hair.

Today there's no classes, the entire day the handful of students who stayed in the school were going to help protect the school.

Wednesday was about to walk out of the door, but the wound of a small morning yawn made her look back.

She saw how Enid finally started to wake up, and almost if like werewolves had a clock inside of them, the sun started rising.

Wednesday walked out, closing the door afterwards.

Wednesday finished her breakfast, this time the absence of a wolfgirl talking her ear out or an inmortal vampire boring her out with insights of things she has never heard about.

He once asked to himself ¿who's the better Spider-man? And she had to endure the entire day how he talked about three different people, with great detail and how he explained the symbolism and how good of a characters they were, she only appreciated how good he was to analyze their story, even when she didn't know anything about it, she ended up that night deciding Andrew's Spider-man was the best.

Her face frowned at herself, how could she lose herself in thought with such mundane things when more important things were at stake.

She was just about to stand up when she heard a voice.

"Wednesday!" Eugene yelled from afar as he walked into the Link, she saw what surely were his mothers behind, standing right outside in the driveway, their car behind of them, and a suspicion started rising in Wednesday mind.

"Eugene." Wednesday said with a serious tone, acknowledging the boy that stopped running as he stood in front of her.

"I'm sorry, really sorry!" He said with a grimace of sadness with repentance.

"Sorry for?"

"I know hummers stay together but I couldn't convince my mothers in any way possible." Eugene said, confirming Wednesday suspicion.

"Don't worry about it Eugene, I didn't expect anyone parents letting them to stay, I don't blame you."

"Uh..." Eugene only looked down now in embarrassment, he knew Wednesday wouldn't downright tell him to fuck off, bit hearing how she missed the point of this talk.

"I came to say goodbye until everything's solved..."

"Goodbye then." Wednesday said her a flat tone.

Eugene didn't say anything more as he turned back and walked to his mothers, and only after he got inside the car was when Wednesday mind started creating thoughts related to him.

He's somewhat similar to Pugsley, they don't fit, and they feel it in a way she doesn't understand, they feel it with discontent or sadness, Wednesday never tried to fit, in most cases she'd rather be a loose brick instead of being part of a wall.

So when those original thinkers as him, Pugsley and her are together, she actually develops a feeling to defend them, just now she concluded.

'It's better that you're going.' Afterall, if Eugene stays, he would be another person to worry about, in Wednesday eyes, the only proper decision would be that everyone left the school except her and Dante.

She stood up, walking towards the other side of the school, the place was eerily silent, like a war was about to happen and one side could only wait for the first bomb to drop, she walked until she reached the lake.

She used one small boat, and in the span of 10 minutes she was already in the small island.

She walked into the woods in direction of the crypt, and right before she entered the place she heard a small snap, the sound of a small stick breaking.

She turned back quickly, only to see nothing, she already had her hand inside her backpack reaching for her spellbook, but a hand on her shoulder made her already yell a spell.

"Asper!" She yelled as she turned back.

The poor recieving end being Dante's face, which head was cut from the nose in half.

It took barely even a second for him to regenerate, the cut part only connecting with his lower head as he smiled.

"Well you're certainly prepared." Dante said, his smile was one of calmness, but deep down Wednesday could see the nervousness inside.

"I'm always prepared." She responded, either narcissistically or speaking the truth, Dante didn't gave a thought to her words as he reached to open the crypt for her.

The girl entered the crypt, seeing the scene had a slight change, it was filled with warm led lights, inside near the sarcophagus of Crackstone there was some bags, and on the other side an open laptop.

"I figured since we're staying here the whole time it's best to have food and entertainment." Dante said as he sat down in front of the laptop.

"If you're trying to play your nervousness as quirky it's not working, I can see right through you." Wednesday said as she sat down next to him.

"Hey even soldiers had this type of things, maybe not laptops and such but they did play cards and stuff." Dante said brushing off Wednesday words with a smile.

"Calm down." Wednesday said, and Dante smile smeared off his face.

He looked down, his face was almost emotionless as he couldn't meet Wednesday eyes.

"I don't want any of you to die, and I don't know how to kill that woman... the only thing that would work would be fighting against her until she gets bored, but I think she'll have more patience than me..." Dante said, his voice wavered as it cracked down, he wasn't scared or nervous, but he felt a pang of pain in his chest he couldn't cure, he seemed more worried about what would happen to them rather than him.

Wednesday looked straight at nothing, she wasn't bad at comforting, she was horrible, she could work things better with a brain dead person.

But that didn't mean she didn't feel bad for him, strangely even for her, she didn't like watching Dante like this.

And then she found something inside her brain that maybe could work.

"I trust you, so stop whining and get a grip, if you're this scared you'll be insufficient, go already."

"No! I can't! Imagine what she could do!"

"She's after you obviously, if you were to go away that woman would follow you." Wednesday said, her point had all the true and just now Dante realized he maybe didn't thought about everything last night.

Dante looked at Wednesday flat expression, their eyes the only things giving away some emotion as they stared at eachother.

In what seemed like an agreement Dante said "You take care of everything, I'll take care of her."

His voice was firm this time, his expression had some newfound bravery he didn't think he had left, all this time he could say he was mostly playing around, following Wednesday to where she wanted to go, but if something could get him nervous, he thought it was only Wednesday, but now even thinking about that woman would make him spiral I'm a rabbit hole of "if".

"I downloaded all Harry Potter movies, do you want to see them?" Dante asked trying to change the subject.

"I'll indulge your human need of distraction just this once." Wednesday said as she turned away to see the laptop too, but she wouldn't admit it was because she already looked at him longer than she could withstand.
