Chapter 37 - Bigger predator part 2.

"No no no just make sure it doesn't get in your eyes." The man said with almost a soft comforting voice as the other could only wash his face on the small metal sink.

"You think I don't know that!?" The other one yelled while he kept rubbing water against his face, the blood that he put there himself now was being the reason to his pain.

After a minute the man finally raised his face off the sink.

He shook his hands around before the other man handed him a the metal bat.

"Thank you..." He said sternly as he grabbed the bat by the handle, only see the reason why he was like that at first.

The little Dante raised his head, maybe if his face wasn't a mix of blood, broken teeth and bruises, only then they would be able to see the smile he was wearing even through all the pain.

"Let's get back to work." The man said as his hand tightened around the handle of the bat.

Jane looked down at Crackstone split in half, his upper half reaching slowly towards the other, the clear intent of wanting to just run away in his eyes.

She looked to the side now, Enid was under debris, knocked out and completely and utterly beaten.

And to the front of Jane, her hand holding Wednesday up in the air by the neck, her hand barely leaving her throat to get some air into her lungs.

Dante looked at the scene as he stood over the roof of the quad, the peeled skin flapping around with the air, in windy times like these his hair would be moving like crazy, but his hair was drenched wet right now.

"I would've looked better, I suppose..." Dante said to himself with a tone loud enough for everyone inside the quad to hear, a hint of disappointment in his voice.

Both Jane and Wednesday turned their heads to look at Dante with wide eyes, both had different emotions when they saw him.

Jane eyes opened even more than before as she opened her mouth, surprise, hate, anger, disappointment and even fear were written on her face as she whispered.

"Why..." she said in a tone that only a mathematician would use when after all their calculations, something went horribly wrong, she delved into deep thinking already creating and erasing all the reasons why Dante was even existing.

Maybe she missed a part of the body while using her magic, maybe a stray part of him that was lost during the battle regenerated back, if that was the case, that just means he has just a small part of his soul left, what makes easier to use her magic.

Jane calmed down and so did her expression, a small smirk crept into her.

"Seeing your skin like that brings me some memories..." she said seeing the flapping skin.

"Will you do something about this thing?" She said in a mocking tone as she held Wednesday higher in the air, expecting Dante to jump into fighting like a deranged beast.

"Let her down, and I'll let you walk out of this." Dante said in a calm voice, but the cocky smile in his face washed away any sense that he became a pacifist overnight, more like he was underestimating Jane.

Jane frowned seeing the change of attitude, she has seen Dante for a long time, watching how much he changed with time and how he grew closer to Wednesday, but now he seemed like he was giving her up for nothing at all.

Wednesday also frowned, the surprise for watching Dante alive was now replaced with confusion, but even after the comment, she knew he was going to help her first.

Dante jumped down, his knees bending as he touched ground, only for him to stand up with an exaggerated pose, his back straight as possible while as he raised a finger towards Jane.

Jane looked him directly at his eyes, they were, for some unexplainable reason a crimson red, filled with pride as he frowned his eyes and small smirk adorned his face.

"Let go of her and I'll let you go." Dante said as he raised both hands in the air as if he was surrendering.

"Last chance~" He said with a cocky, confident, arrogant tone.

"I won't let anyone else choose my fate ever again!" Jane yelled as she turned to fully see Dante, but in the split of a second he dissappeared of her sight to appear right in front of her.

Just as she saw his arm go towards Wednesday she stepped aside, but his other hand caught her, a punch directly into the nose that made her let go of Wednesday.

Dante grabbed Wednesday gently, like a mother cooning their children as he stared at her bloody clothes.

"How's Enid?" Dante asked as he was already healing Wednesday.

Wednesday was going to respond, but the healing made her clench her teeth in agony as she felt the bullet slowly come out of her shoulder.

"It's stunning it didn't hit anything important..." Dante said with a soft voice that came only from his deep care for the living, and it was surely boosted that the creature he was holding was Wednesday.

"You're alive..." Wednesday said, her eyes were scanning Dante's face from his chin until his wet hair, but once the numbing pain left her body, she was able to see a difference in him.

Her eyes widened in awe as she felt herself strangely mesmerized while looking at Dante's eyes.

"Your eyes." She said flatly as she turned her head with fast swing, stopping herself from staring more.

Dante tilted his head sideways trying to see some of Wednesday face, but the stubborn girl didn't allow any of her expression be revealed as she turned her head lower.

"Something wrong with them?" Dante asked with a slight smirk marking his face, the feeling of Wednesday being actually embarrassed for something was one he couldn't delight on a lot because of her personality.

"Yeah." Jane said, and within the second, Dante was sent flying towards the sky.

Dante wasn't bothered by the kick on his gut as he only cared to close his legs and use his hands to pull the hanging skin down so no one in the ground was able to see his private parts.

After reaching the clouds, Dante put both hands on his sides, the sensation of his souls shaping his body started to come through, it was like hot water brushed his whole body, and then turned into acid that melted it into a twisted form of itself.

His ribs started to change in form, two bones ripped out of his body like nails, and once half a meter came out, he held onto them and pulled them out of his body, he grabbed the two bones and with after he moved them a bit on the air, part of them flew off like dust, the bones forming like two knifes.

He looked down, Jane was only looking at him with a focused look, first time in the entire day that her face didn't have any sort of of expression.

Dante prepared for the impact raising both bone knifes in the air and swinging them down once he was exactly in front of Jane, the bones were swift, cutting from both her shoulders her arms, perfect cut.

Dante set foot on the ground, barely seeing Jane's to the face before he grabbed Wednesday and jumped back the furthest he could.

"This one is mine, make sure Enid is safe and get her to the Lupin cages where everyone else is, I'll do this." Dante said to Wednesday with a firm tone, one that she could argue with, yet the overwhelming confidence she felt seeing Dante made her keep her words for herself.

Wednesday turned around to see Enid under the debris knocked out cold.

Dante saw Wednesday as she ran towards the werewolf, and now with a self assured smile he turned to see Jane.

And for some strange reason, the woman with her new grown arms was peeling a part of skin out of her left cut off arm, the part of skin having a tattoo of a chain going over itself again and again.

"Talk about attachment..." Dante said with a cocky tone, the same confident smile he had before coming again to his features as he saw the woman look at the skin.

"I forbade myself of using this ever again after killing mom, and now... after learning for hundreds of years a way to kill another inmortal that didn't resorted to using his creation, I find myself drawn to it again..."

Dante frowned at the reaction of the woman, or the lack of reaction to his cockyness, and even worse because he didn't understand a thing of what Jane was speaking about, because if there was a way of killing an inmortal, why not use it at first instance.

The sound of the door's closing echoed around the place, Dante felt a weight lift of his shoulders as he knew no one was around to be hurt or to presence what was about to happen.

The only presence to witness was Jane, half Crackstone and him, and was about to make sure none of the other two lived another day.

"But once my objective is done, I'll finally gain a freedom overmyself that no one will touch, for the seconf time of my life, chains."

Jane put her hand over the skin, and a silver looking chain came out for her to pull out, she tossed the skin to the ground, even more chain coming out and out as the tattoo dissappeared from the skin, roughly 5 meters of said chain came out, the tip of it had a sickle, the tool being made of the exact same material of the chain.

"Rip and tear until your soul loosens up."
