Earth-65. Manhattan airspace.
Space tore open above New York.
Three Plumbers assault ships pierced through the clouds — blue engine flames melting asphalt on descent. Hatches popped. Hundreds of armed drones swarmed outward, locking down the blocks in precise formation.
Agents filed down the ramps.
"Officer!" The assault captain snapped a salute.
Jake issued orders without breaking stride.
"Clear the battlefield. Take over surveillance. Sinister Six into containment pods — escort to Moon Prison. Medical team to the civilians."
"Yes, sir!"
Energy handcuffs locked onto unconscious villains. Tractor beams hoisted them into the assault ships' holds. Medical robots glided toward Captain George, green restoration beams sealing the scrapes on his arm.
George looked at the orderly alien army, then at his daughter.
Gwen shrugged.
Assault ship. Interrogation room.
The lights were corpse-white.
Albedo hit the alloy floor coughing blood. Magnetic handcuffs locked his wrists. He glared at Jake across the metal table.
Jake sat down. Placed the shattered red Ultimatrix between them.
"Who gave you this technology?" He tapped the table. "Don't say you built it. Your brain couldn't engineer a cross-universal warp system."
Albedo sneered. "You don't understand. The code in this watch comes from the Abyss. Azmuth's peace theory is obsolete. Only slaughter and consumption unlock the genes' ultimate potential."
Jake didn't argue.
Whoosh!
Half a meter tall. Frog-like eyes. The smartest brain in the galaxy compressed into the smallest package.
Grey Matter.
He jumped onto the table and pressed both hands against the shattered red dial. Fingers blurring.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Albedo thrashed. "That's my core data!"
"Physical hacking."
A miniature probe — thrust into the Ultimatrix's core chip.
ZZZT!
Red arcs danced. A holographic screen erupted — thousands of red code lines cascading like a waterfall.
Grey Matter's eyes locked on. Brain at maximum throughput.
"Found it."
He pulled a red fiber-optic cable from the probe and connected it directly to the Omnitrix.
"System — force overwrite."
[Homologous mutated code detected.]
[Stripping Evolutionary Feedback mechanism... removing Abyss contamination source...]
[Extracting pure Evolutionary algorithm.]
"NO! Give me back my LIFE'S WORK!" Albedo strained against the cuffs until his wrists bled.
Grey Matter didn't look up.
[Fusion initiated.]
The Omnitrix's runes spun — consuming the red code, assimilating it, purifying it. Green light flooded the interrogation room.
BANG!
The red Ultimatrix crumbled to scrap.
[Evolutionary algorithm integration — complete.]
[System upgrade.]
[Ultimate Evolution authorization granted for entire gene library.]
[Combined with Master Control: any form can be evolved to Ultimate state instantly. Zero wind-up.]
Grey Matter jumped down.
Whoosh.
Jake — human. He raised his wrist. Around the Omnitrix dial's edge, a ring of dark-gold scales had appeared. The mark of Ultimate Evolution, permanently integrated.
"Thanks for the delivery." Jake looked at Albedo, crumpled on the floor. "As for the 'Abyss' you mentioned — I'll go crush its bones personally."
He walked out. Sealed the airlock behind him.
Gwen waited in the corridor.
"Settled?"
"Small upgrade." Jake waved his wrist. "Earth-65 status?"
"Dad's handling the city government. Plumbers branch site chosen — abandoned bunker beneath the Statue of Liberty. Construction already started."
"Good work."
Jake took her hand. They walked to the bridge, standing before the massive viewport. Below — Manhattan being rebuilt. Sunlight on ruins. Everything moving in the right direction.
For about thirty seconds.
DI.
Black alert. Highest level. Moon Base.
Jake answered.
Tony Stark's face appeared on the holographic screen. No armor. Hair wild. Eyes holding a terror Jake had never seen in them.
"Jake. Come back. Now."
"Ross again?"
"Not the military. It's the sky."
Tony flipped the camera upward.
Jake and Gwen stopped breathing.
On screen — the sky of the main universe was no longer blue.
The sun was still there.
But it was black.
A viscous, tar-like substance was wrapping around the entire star at a speed that defied physics. Sunlight was being consumed. Earth was falling into perpetual night — the kind of darkness where you couldn't see your own hand.
"Satellites disconnected. Every deep-space probe — destroyed." Tony swallowed. "That black stuff... it's spreading toward Earth."
"Symbiote."
Jake spoke the word, and the temperature in the bridge dropped.
He remembered what Albedo had said in the interrogation room. The Abyss.
The oldest darkness in the Marvel Universe. Older than the Infinity Stones. Older than Galactus. The primordial void that had existed before the first light.
The God of Symbiotes.
The creator of All-Black the Necrosword.
Knull.
"Hold the line. Activate Earth's Planetary Shield."
Jake's eyes went cold in a way that made Thanos's killing intent look warm.
"I'm coming back. Right now."
He cut the comm. Turned to Gwen.
"Vacation's over."
Jake pressed the Omnitrix.
"Target: Main Universe. All ships — WARP!"
