"Is this the place?"
"Let me see.... yea, number 35, exactly as she said."
"Right then! Let's get this over with."
The man wearing a slightly overgrown T-shirt and a baseball cap, opens the door. It's wooden and torn apart and whatever was left of it's structure breaks down as he pushes it lightly. Beyond the door: A giant mansion overgrown with moss and dripping with what looks like blood from the distance. His friend: a man in his 20's with an unappealing unshaved beard and a lighter in his hand, dashes down the mansion.
"Come on, Maxy! We're not getting paid gold for this one, so we best move this along."
"I have my reasons to me cautious, Brian! this place makes me throw up..."
"Oh, come on! Stop whining. We've seen a lot worse."
Maxy rolls his eyes
"If you say so."
The mansion is a lot smaller after getting through the main hall. A single floor binding the kitchen, two-person bedroom and gigantic dinner table together. Yet one room stands out, it's door is completely shut and strange noises are looming beyond it.
"This is... the one right?"
Maxy hesitates
"Only one way to find out."
Brian starts kicking the door, however, it didn't budge.
"Maxy, help me out over here."
"I got you."
One kick from the both of them immediately opened the door and just as they predicted, that was the door they were looking for.
A spider the size of a whole bed stared at them, it's limbs drenched in a blood-red goop. From a diatance it looks like blood, but it's too thick, too gooey to be called that. The spider jumps at them instantly. They both immediately dodge the attack, and set one of their own. Maxy grabs a net-gun and traps the spider in the small hallway. Brian lights his lighter, and proceeds to burn the net with the spider inside.
"Alright, we did what we had to, now let's get out of here."
Brian stares at Maxy
"B- but what about the house! Are we just gonna leave this to burn down?!"
"No one lives in this place."
"... Good point, let's bail."
They run through the room they just opened and jumped through the broken window out of the mansion, into the night sky.
"Did you take a photo of the spider?"
"Don't worry. They'll notice that we did our jobs... pretty well."
Brian points at the mansion, which is starting to burn up.
Maxy sighs in relief as they both walk across the streets.
"Tomorrow I expect you to be at the boss's office, I can't get my money without you, so you better show up this time."
Brian stares at Maxy with a very concentrated face
"Alright, alright I get it, see you tomorrow."
As they both walk to their homes, a sense of dread overwhelms them.
They have only 41 days left to live.
