Kaizo stood under the pale moonlight, the bodies of fallen soldiers scattered around him like discarded leaves.
Blood covered the stones.
Rin and Haru stood across from him, both tense.
The silence between them felt heavy.
Then Kaizo slowly lifted one of his curved blades… and slid it back into its sheath.
The metal clicked softly.
He tilted his head, that strange half-broken tooth visible in his twisted smile.
"You two…" he said calmly.
"…don't deserve my full potential."
The words hung in the air like an insult carved in stone.
Haru's eyes narrowed.
Rin's grip tightened around her katana.
The disrespect was obvious.
Kaizo wasn't even taking them seriously.
Haru leaned slightly forward, his knives ready.
Rin steadied her stance beside him.
Despite her exhaustion, her eyes burned with determination.
We can't hesitate…
If they gave this monster control of the fight, they would die.
Haru exhaled slowly.
"Ready?" he whispered.
Rin nodded.
But before either of them could move—
Kaizo vanished.
For a split second the space where he stood became empty.
Then—
A blur.
He shot forward like a cheetah launching at prey.
Haru's instincts screamed.
Too fast!
His eyes barely tracked the movement.
But his body reacted on instinct.
He threw one knife forward while raising the other to defend.
CLANG!
Metal collided violently.
Kaizo's blade crashed into Haru's knife.
The impact sent a shock through Haru's arm.
What the—?!
The force was brutal.
Haru's feet slid backward across the stone ground as he struggled to hold his position.
The raw power behind that strike felt almost animalistic.
He couldn't stop it.
Haru was thrown backward several steps before finally regaining balance.
His chest heaved.
Kaizo stood where he had struck, blade lowered casually.
His smile widened.
"Weak."
The word came out almost playfully.
Haru's jaw tightened.
Before Kaizo could move again—
Rin attacked.
Her katana flashed through the moonlight in a sharp arc aimed directly for Kaizo's neck.
But Kaizo didn't even turn fully.
His blade lifted lazily.
CLANG.
Her katana was stopped instantly.
The impact vibrated through her arms.
Then Kaizo's free hand shot forward.
He grabbed her wrist.
Rin's eyes widened.
Impossible…
He had caught her movement so easily.
She twisted her body quickly, trying to break free while slashing again with her katana.
But Kaizo released her before the strike landed.
He stepped back smoothly.
Both Haru and Rin attacked together now.
Haru disappeared into the shadows using the Min clan movement technique.
His presence faded for a brief moment.
A knife flew toward Kaizo's blind spot.
At the same time, Rin rushed forward again.
Two attacks from two directions.
But Kaizo simply turned his head slightly.
His blade moved once.
CLANG.
The knife was knocked aside.
Then his body shifted half a step.
Rin's katana cut through empty air.
Haru reappeared behind him instantly.
Two knives aimed for Kaizo's back.
But Kaizo's elbow shot backward without even looking.
The strike hit Haru in the ribs.
A dull thud echoed.
Haru staggered backward, breath escaping his lungs.
"You're predictable," Kaizo said calmly.
His voice carried amusement.
The fight continued.
Haru and Rin moved together, attacking from different angles.
Knives flashed.
Steel rang.
Footsteps echoed across the blood-covered stones.
But something quickly became clear.
They couldn't touch him.
Not once.
Kaizo moved effortlessly between their attacks.
Sometimes he blocked.
Sometimes he simply stepped aside.
Sometimes he caught their weapons with his bare hand before pushing them away.
And all the while—
He used only one blade.
The other remained sheathed.
The fight felt less like a battle…
…and more like a predator playing with wounded animals.
Rin swung her katana again with everything she had left.
Kaizo leaned backward slightly.
The blade missed his throat by inches.
His fist slammed into her stomach.
The impact drove the air from her lungs.
Rin collapsed to one knee instantly.
Her vision blurred.
I can't… breathe…
Meanwhile Haru tried again.
He moved fast, using every trick he knew.
He vanished behind Kaizo using the Min clan stealth step.
Now!
His knife rushed toward Kaizo's neck.
But Kaizo turned suddenly.
Too fast.
His blade flashed.
A sharp pain cut across Haru's shoulder.
Blood sprayed into the air.
Haru stumbled backward, clutching the wound.
Kaizo's blade dripped red.
Moments later both Haru and Rin were on the ground.
Breathing heavily.
Injured.
Exhausted.
Kaizo stood above them calmly.
Not even breathing hard.
Haru stared at him from the ground.
His thoughts raced.
What a warrior…
This wasn't just strength.
This was something else entirely.
Experience.
Instinct.
Killer's skill.
Kaizo slowly stepped closer.
His shadow stretched across them under the moonlight.
"You Min clan…" he said quietly.
His voice had changed now.
Less playful.
More bitter.
"You took everything from me."
His grip tightened around his blade.
"My family…"
"My people…"
"Everything."
His eyes darkened.
For the first time, real hatred appeared in his expression.
Haru forced himself to stay conscious.
What is he talking about…?
Kaizo lifted his blade slowly.
His twisted smile returned.
A cold, psychotic grin.
"Now," he whispered.
"I'm going to take everything from you."
The moonlight reflected in his blood-covered teeth.
His broken fang gleamed like a symbol of madness.
Haru and Rin lay wounded at his feet.
And Kaizo raised his blade.
