Chapter 144 - Chapter 144: Beerus: You Guys Have No Sense of Martial Honor!

"Fusion! Now that's interesting." Beerus' lips curled into a smirk, his eyes shining with intense excitement. "What's your name? I recall that a fused being usually has a unique name of their own."

"Kakaroly."

"Kakaroly!" Beerus repeated the name under his breath.

"Come, Lord Beerus. Let's have another round," Kakaroly said. With a sudden shift, he transformed into a Super Saiyan 5, his hair turning a brilliant silver-white in an instant.

"Super Saiyan 5 again, I see," Beerus mused.

BOOM!

Kakaroly didn't waste any more words. A dark green aura erupted from his body, and his hair shifted to a deep, mossy green. Endless waves of energy radiated from Kakaroly, washing over the entire area. In that moment, the Sacred World of the Kai was dyed in shades of dark green, as if the sky itself had been dipped into a massive vat of deep green dye.

"Transforming further on top of Super Saiyan 5?" Beerus asked with a smile.

"Yes, Lord Beerus," Kakaroly nodded.

"Come!" Beerus beckoned with his hand.

Whoosh!

Kakaroly didn't bother with words and rocketed toward Beerus. Watching the fused warrior charge at him with blinding speed, Beerus' pupils shrank, and his expression shifted.

So fast! Even I can barely track his movements!

Kakaroly threw a heavy punch. Beerus scrambled to raise his arms in a block.

BAM!

With a dull thud, Kakaroly's fist connected squarely with Beerus' guard.

"Gah...!"

The moment their limbs collided, Beerus' expression changed wildly, and he let out a sharp cry of surprise.

Whoosh!

Beerus was sent skidding backward, his feet digging into the ground and carving two long, deep furrows into the soil of the Sacred World of the Kai.

Flash!

Kakaroly flickered, appearing behind Beerus with incredible speed.

THUD!

Kakaroly struck fast, his kick landing squarely on Beerus' back. Beerus was sent stumbling forward.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Kakaroly pressed the advantage, launching a fierce, relentless assault. Beerus, struggling to mount a defense, was quickly becoming frustrated.

VROOOM!

A violet-red aura erupted from Beerus as he unleashed his most powerful form. However, Kakaroly remained unfazed and lunged back into the fray. Even with Beerus using his full power, there was still a clear gap between him and Kakaroly.

After several more exchanges—WHAM!

Kakaroly delivered a heavy blow to Beerus' chest.

"Urgh...!"

Beerus coughed up a spray of bile.

BOOM!

Kakaroly followed up with a massive kick, sending Beerus rocketing into the sky, where he tumbled through the air.

In that moment, Beerus felt like his entire world had been turned upside down. Is this really the power of a fusion between Goku and Broly? This is insane! It was the first time Beerus had ever felt that a mortal could reach such heights of power, rivaling a God of Destruction.

"Kamehameha!"

Kakaroly gathered energy between his palms.

Whoosh!

A beam of dark green light streaked across the sky, roaring toward Beerus. Beerus broke into a cold sweat and gathered his Destruction energy.

"Hakai!"

The Destruction energy collided with the Kamehameha. The immense power of Destruction began to dismantle the incoming beam bit by bit.

Snap!

In just a few heartbeats, the Kamehameha was completely erased by the power of Destruction.

"Phew..."

Beerus' eyes were filled with shock. If my reaction had been a second slower, that Kamehameha might have actually wounded me. Wait... where did he go?

Beerus' pupils dilated as his expression shifted again. He realized that Kakaroly had vanished from below.

"Oh my, it looks like Lord Beerus might actually lose..." Whis remarked with a sigh.

Realizing something, Beerus turned his head mechanically, only to see Kakaroly standing right behind him.

"Lord Beerus, I won't be holding back!" Kakaroly grinned and slammed his hand downward, a massive wave of energy enveloping Beerus.

Under the immense pressure, Beerus began to plummet toward the ground. However, being a God of Destruction, he flickered just before impact, appearing high in the sky again.

But the moment he reappeared—"I'm right here, Lord Beerus."

Kakaroly waved at him, his voice echoing from right behind him. Beerus froze, his eye twitching as his face turned a shade of livid purple.

"Lord Beerus, I'm attacking again!" Kakaroly said, charging once more.

Beerus bared his teeth, looking beyond livid. As Kakaroly closed in, Beerus threw a desperate punch. Their fists collided.

BOOM!

The shockwave from their impact rippled outward, tearing through the landscape of the Sacred World of the Kai.

CRACK!

Deep fissures began to spiderweb across the ground.

Whis: "..."

Whis tapped his staff lightly on the ground, and a wave of angelic power washed over the land. In an instant, the entire Sacred World of the Kai was restored. Kakaroly noticed this and was momentarily stunned. If we keep this up, the Sacred World of the Kai won't survive. But that guy Whis... he's no joke. He can even repair this place.

Snap!

Kakaroly suddenly withdrew his fist. Because he had pulled back so abruptly, the force of Beerus' punch sent him tumbling backward.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Kakaroly hit the ground and rolled several times before finally coming to a stop.

Whoosh!

Beerus seized the opening and rushed in, taking the opportunity to deliver a flurry of blows to Kakaroly. Kakaroly struggled to defend himself, his eyes flickering with uncertainty.

After a few more exchanges—THUD!

Beerus delivered a kick that sent Kakaroly sprawling onto the ground once more.

"Get up!" Beerus huffed, though his expression was a bit complicated.

Kakaroly stood up and took a deep breath, a wide grin spreading across his face. "You're truly incredible, Lord Beerus!"

Beerus remained silent.

"I lost after all," Kakaroly said, scratching his head with a smile.

Beerus: "..."

"I surrender, Lord Beerus," Kakaroly added.

"In that case, let's call it a day," Beerus said, deciding to quit while he was ahead. He didn't press Kakaroly any further.

Flash!

The aura around Kakaroly faded as he returned to his base form. However, the two remained close together.

"How long does this fusion of yours last?" Beerus asked casually.

"Thirty minutes," Kakaroly replied.

"Hmm. Our battle just now lasted less than ten minutes. It seems you still have twenty minutes left," Beerus mused.

"Something like that," Kakaroly nodded.

"Not bad! Your strength is truly impressive!" Beerus admitted, though he was secretly feeling a massive headache coming on.

Have I really been asleep for that long? I only slept for less than forty years, and yet such powerful beings have already appeared among mortals! And the fusion of two of them has already surpassed me. I know this guy was giving me face by losing on purpose. Otherwise, I would have been completely humiliated right here in the Sacred World of the Kai.

"Whis, take Vegeta. It's time for us to go," Beerus called out to his attendant.

"Certainly, Lord Beerus," Whis replied, sounding a bit surprised but agreeing readily.

"Wait? Lord Beerus is taking Vegeta away?" Kakaroly blinked, looking a bit caught off guard.

"Next time we meet, I won't even have to lift a finger. Vegeta alone will be enough to defeat either of you," Beerus huffed, casting a side-long glance at Kakaroly.

Kakaroly froze for a moment, not quite knowing how to respond.

"Of course, it might still be a bit difficult for Vegeta to handle the two of you fused together," Beerus added quickly, afraid that Kakaroly might misunderstand. If you guys use fusion against Vegeta... forget about him, even I would lose.

"I see. Is Lord Beerus going to train Vegeta?" Kakaroly soon realized what was happening and grinned.

Beerus' lips curled into a smirk, the meaning in his eyes clear. Without wasting any more time, Beerus stepped forward, grabbed Vegeta, and slung him over his shoulder. Then, he shot a glare at Whis. I told you to take Vegeta, and while you said yes, you didn't look like you had any intention of moving.

But now wasn't the time to argue. After picking up Vegeta, Beerus stepped behind Whis.

"Farewell, Mr. Kakaroly," Whis waved.

"Ah... see you later," Kakaroly nodded and waved back.

Whis tapped his staff on the ground, and a brilliant, star-like light erupted from it, enveloping both him and Beerus.

Whoosh!

The two of them, carrying Vegeta, turned into a streak of light that shot into the starry sky and vanished in an instant. Kakaroly looked up at the spot where they had disappeared, his heart filled with a sense of wonder.

Twenty minutes later:

Flash!

Kakaroly's body split in two, returning to Goku and Broly. The two looked at each other and shared a wide grin. The next moment, they lunged toward each other and delivered a high-five. The scene looked remarkably like Sakuragi Hanamichi and Rukawa Kaede's high-five after defeating Sannoh in Slam Dunk.

"Great working with you, Broly," Goku said with a smile.

"Great working with you too, hahaha," Broly laughed in his usual simple-minded way.

The World of the God of Destruction:

By now, Whis and Beerus had returned to their home. The moment they arrived, Beerus had Whis project an image of Kakaroly through his staff. And so, Beerus saw the two of them high-fiving and sharing a cheeky laugh.

Beerus' face immediately turned black. What the hell do you mean 'great working with you'?! Do they already know that their fusion can beat me? How arrogant! Beerus felt like he was losing face, but he couldn't find any fault with what they had done.

"Turn it off, turn it off! It's just making me annoyed," Beerus huffed, telling Whis to close the projection.

Whis smiled and closed the image.

"This Vegeta guy really knows how to sleep!" Beerus looked at Vegeta, who was still unconscious on the ground, and felt a surge of frustration.

"Oh my, it's likely because his injuries were so severe that he hasn't woken up yet. Should I give him some treatment?" Whis checked Vegeta's body and explained with a smile.

"No need. Let him wake up on his own," Beerus waved his hand, then rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "But then again, even if I train Vegeta... Goku and Broly are two people. If they team up... we're still at a disadvantage!"

"Is Lord Beerus planning to train a disciple to fight them instead of fighting them yourself?" Whis asked with a chuckle.

"It'll be much more satisfying to train a disciple and have them defeat those two," Beerus nodded.

"It seems Lord Beerus has been moved by Mr. Vegeta's growth," Whis smiled. "After all, Mr. Vegeta has already grasped the power of Destruction. In truth, Lord Beerus probably has some complicated feelings for Mr. Goku and Mr. Broly as well, doesn't he?"

"Hmph. I'm a God of Destruction. Do you really think I have room for such emotions?" Beerus rolled his eyes, refusing to admit it.

"Still, what Lord Beerus is doing is a very wise choice," Whis added with a mysterious smile.

Beerus blinked, not quite understanding what Whis meant.

"You'll understand in the future, Lord Beerus," Whis said with a grin.

Beerus didn't bother asking about what would happen in the future. He knew Whis well enough to know that even if he asked, the Angel wouldn't tell him. There was no point in wasting brain cells on it.

"I should probably find another person to train as well. Training two people at once would be even more rewarding," Beerus mused. "That way, it'll be a two-on-two against Goku and Broly."

Whis: "..."

"Whis, do you think there are any other suitable candidates?" Beerus asked.

"For that, you should ask the Oracle Fish," Whis smiled.

"Oracle Fish! Get over here right now!" Beerus bellowed.

The Oracle Fish flew over from the lake in its fishbowl, appearing beside Beerus in an instant.

"Oracle Fish, didn't you prophesy that several Saiyans would surpass me?" Beerus asked with a side-long glance and a smirk.

"Yes, that's correct. But not now—in the future," the Oracle Fish replied matter-of-factly.

"Fine. Then tell me, how many Saiyans will surpass me?" Beerus huffed, staring at the fish.

"Four," the Oracle Fish replied.

"Oh? Four Saiyans will surpass me?" Beerus chuckled. "Then tell me, besides Goku and Broly, does that include this guy Vegeta?"

"I only prophesied that four Saiyans would surpass Lord Beerus. I don't know their names," the Oracle Fish said with an innocent look.

Beerus: "..."

His face turned black. He didn't even know how to respond to that.

"However, there is one thing I can be sure of. One of those Saiyans is a hybrid, not a pure-blooded Saiyan," the Oracle Fish added.

Beerus immediately turned to Whis, gesturing for him to find out who this hybrid Saiyan was. Whis nodded slightly and began to investigate through the crystal ball on his staff.

"Hmm... good. If I bring that hybrid Saiyan over and have him train alongside Vegeta, that would indeed be a good choice," Beerus muttered to himself, his lips curling into a shallow smirk.

I don't believe it! The people I, the Great God of Destruction, train will definitely surpass Goku and Broly. I'm sure of it!

Even though these two have reached the level of a God of Destruction, they still aren't as powerful as Quitela. And they certainly aren't a match for me! The only thing I really need to be wary of is their fusion technique. As long as they don't fuse, they aren't anything special in a one-on-one fight.

"I've found him, Lord Beerus." Whis soon located the other hybrid Saiyan, his eyes shimmering as he looked up at Beerus.

"Where is he?" Beerus asked.

"He is currently on Earth," Whis replied with a smile.

"Earth? That planet with the unfriendly dinosaurs? I remember making those dinosaurs extinct back then," Beerus chuckled. Then, he paused, rubbing his head as something felt off. "Wait, did you say Earth?"

"Yes, Earth," Whis nodded.

"Don't I recall you saying earlier that Goku and Vegeta live on Earth?" Beerus pressed.

"Yes, that's correct," Whis replied simply.

"Is this hybrid Saiyan related to them in some way?" Beerus had a bad feeling about this.

"Oh my, his name is Gohan. He's Goku's son," Whis revealed the answer.

Beerus: "..."

His face turned black, and he was left momentarily speechless. That's just going too far. If I train Goku's son, can I really expect him to go and fight his own father?

"I suppose we'll have to find someone else," Beerus said, rubbing his temples with a helpless sigh.

"Indeed. But who does Lord Beerus have in mind?" Whis asked.

"Who else is there? Are there any other powerful figures in our universe? It doesn't even have to be a Saiyan!" Beerus asked.

"Majin Buu might be worth considering," Whis suggested.

"No way. I can't stand that guy. One look at him and you know he's a glutton!" Beerus refused decisively. "In fact, I have a premonition that he'd just end up stealing my food."

Whis placed a hand to his forehead and fell silent.

"Is there anyone besides Majin Buu?" Beerus asked again.

Whis didn't answer. I already suggested someone, and you shot it down. I think I'll just keep quiet now.

"Frieza! Right, isn't there still Frieza?" Beerus' eyes suddenly lit up as he remembered the tyrant.

"Isn't Mr. Frieza dead?" Whis asked.

"For you, wouldn't reviving him be a simple matter?" Beerus grinned.

Whis remained silent.

"Let's go. We'll check on that Frieza fellow first. I want to see how strong he is and if he's worth training," Beerus said, his interest piqued. He was actually starting to look forward to it.

After all, Frieza's talent was undeniable. Beerus had always felt that Frieza possessed quite a bit of potential. It was a pity that Frieza had been wiped out by Vegeta.

This is even better. Those two are rivals, so they can spar with each other whenever they have free time. That way, I can slack off and sleep. Maybe by the time I wake up, they'll have already surpassed Goku and Vegeta. Beerus felt a surge of excitement just thinking about it.

"So, shall we take a trip to the Underworld?" Whis asked.

"Yes, of course. I want to see Frieza for myself," Beerus nodded in agreement.

"Very well," Whis replied.

Whoosh!

In the next instant, Whis and Beerus turned into a brilliant streak of light that vanished into the starry sky.

The Underworld, King Yemma's Palace:

Seeing Whis and Beerus suddenly appear, King Yemma practically launched himself out of his seat. He dropped to his knees and prostrated himself before them.

"Greetings, Lord Whis, Lord Beerus!" King Yemma trembled with fear, having no idea why these two great deities had come to the Underworld.

"King Yemma, tell me, is that Frieza fellow still here?" Beerus asked directly.

"He... he is currently being held in Hell," King Yemma replied honestly, his mouth twitching slightly.

"Where exactly in Hell?" Beerus pressed.

King Yemma immediately gave them the specific location where Frieza was being imprisoned.

"Let's go, Whis," Beerus said.

"Certainly, Lord Beerus," Whis nodded.

With a few flickers of motion, they vanished from the spot.

Hell:

In a place with beautiful scenery stood a towering, lush tree. Frieza's soul was suspended from one of its branches, trapped inside a cocoon with only his head exposed. All around him, countless fairies and dolls were dancing and singing without pause.

Frieza looked utterly despondent.

What goes around truly comes around! I was reborn, only to end up right back where I started. Dammit! This is infuriating! I won't accept this!

If I ever get another chance to start over, I'll make sure those Saiyan monkeys meet a miserable end. Damnable Vegeta! I never imagined I would lose to him! Frieza's rage simmered as he recalled being erased by Vegeta.

But since he was already dead, his anger was useless. I wonder if that fellow Sorbet will gather the Dragon Balls to revive me in this life? I've changed the course of history so much, maybe he won't?

Just as Frieza was lost in thought, his eyes suddenly lit up as he saw a familiar face.

"Frieza!" Beerus drifted over slowly, appearing beside the tyrant. Whis stood behind Beerus, remaining silent.

"L-Lord Beerus?" Frieza's mouth twitched violently, and his face turned a shade of sickly pale. What is Lord Beerus doing here? Did he come all this way just to erase my soul? This is bad... this is really bad!
